My husband and I were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary with a hiking trip in Franconia. The website pictures of Lovett's Inn look clean and adorable. When we arrived this was not the case. The exterior upkeep is minimal. There is a smell of mold/must in the main house and in the cabin we booked. There was a swarm of flies in the bathroom on our arrival and the remains of flies/bugs in all of the window sills. The bed was not comfortable. Lastly, the curtains did not close completely, leaving us feeling rather exposed. We left and stayed somewhere else last minute. Michelle, the innkeeper, has refused a refund. In response to your comments, we had several emails where I did list my complaints on the room. And I never received a phone call from you the next day. Your response is misleading. Regardless, I have never in my life left an online review before this stay which speaks to how strongly I feel. I realize I will not be refunded, although I disagree with your decision. I just felt I should share so people don't make the same mistake I made. Book here with caution. read more

Michelle, the owner, is an absolute rock star and essentially a one-woman show. Check in was super easy and she met us at the main building even though we arrived late, after normal check in hours. She had put the heat on and a light on in our cottage so it was ready for us. Room was cozy and cute, as we expected. No fluff and relatively small but has everything you need including a microwave and small fridge. Bed was okay, not super comfortable if you have a bad back or anything like that, but fine since we were tired from hiking and passed out! Housekeeping services are not provided daily which did not matter to us, just something to note since that's important to some people. The grassy area walking from parking and the main building to the cottages is a little sandy/gritty, so the floor gets dirty quickly. Wish there had been a doormat to wipe our feet before entering our room to keep it a little cleaner. Every morning for breakfast Michelleprovides fresh fruit and some sort of super fresh and delicious pastry that she makes from scratch (we had cranberry orange muffins, coffee cake, cinnamon sugar doughnut sticks and cinnamon sugar/coffee cake topped muffins). That is just the start of breakfast! She makes you literally whatever you can possibly think of and doesn't even provide a menu - if you can think of it she can make it! Throughout our stay we had breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, French toast, pancakes, fried eggs, sausages and hash browns. She also even remembered after the first day that we liked ketchup with our hash browns and that I like OJ! We also ate here for a super late, small dinner one night and got Margherita pizza. The dough and sauce is home made which is why we got it! It was VERY cheesy, which can be good, but needed a little more sauce on it to balance it out. Quite tasty (although we're from NJ/NYC so we have unfair standards for pizza) and what we needed for a quick, late snack. Loved the fresh loaf of Italian bread when we sat down - again, of course, made fresh by Michelle. So doughy and warm that we actually ordered some large loaves to take home with us at the end of our stay. read more

Absolutely loved staying here in September! We were greeted by Michelle and she was so friendly and gave us great recommendations on food near by. She let us know to come hungry for breakfast. We did, and she absolutely delivered on her promise to make anything we wanted. We highly recommend her sausage gravy and her French toast! We stayed in a cottage and everything was as described and clean. Michelle truly knows how to run an amazing Bed and Breakfast. I hope to be able to stay here again. read more

Had the most amazing experience at Lovett's Inn to start off 2021. We cannot say enough about how cozy this place is, and how hospitable the staff is. The owner Michelle is the best. She treats you like an old friend and is very accommodating. Plus, her cooking is top notch! (make sure you set an alarm in the morning because you do not want to miss her breakfast!) The rooms are separate from the main building, giving them a real cottage feel. Our room had a fireplace, which was sat next to as we watched the snow fall outside through the large windows. Couldn't ask for a cozier situation. The large tub was a home run with the lady. The staff was also very compliant with COVID guidelines. Everyone had masks on and there were signs all around the Inn reminding folks to keep their masks on and their distance at 6 feet. Never did we feel at risk or endangering to anyone else. If you need a stay for the nearby slopes or just an escape from the city in the mountains, this place is a hidden gem! We are already planning our next stay. read more

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT: I say this because there are so many old reviews on here that are completely inaccurate. The new innkeepers are wonderful, wholesome hosts. I cannot stress enough how wonderful they are. So cheerful and seem like they truly enjoy hosting all their guests. The room was rustic chic and beautiful. The bed and pillows were comfortable along with our bathroom. Everything was super clean. We stayed in the main house. Breakfast in the morning was delicious (especially the muffins, which Michelle was nice enough to pack a few to go). Everything is homemade and reminded me of staying at a relatives house. Our family had a super time at this nice Inn. Michelle went way beyond any inn keeper in helping us feel special and welcome. Michelle even baked a an amazing key lime pie for my husband's birthday! Lovett's has recently come under new management. I haven't stayed the night, so I can't speak to that, but I did have dinner! Excellent service and food. The amazing views of the mountains don't hurt either. I'd recommend trying the pig wings as an appetizer. My husband and I will for sure be back. read more

This place was a disaster. Check in: not a soul around. Cold, empty. Unplowed, slippery. Was told there was no dinner, no bar, breakfast only 8-9:30. Pointed in the general direction if our room. Charged more for the room I had requested. Then was told she was alone, couldn't get into the system, husband was not there so no plowing and no bar. Room: path was unlit, not shoveled, covered in ice. Tried two units until we found ours after i fell in the dark on the ice. Get in, light at door didn't work. Room freezing. Took forever to get heat working, one in bathroom doesn't. We then went our to look for food and drink. Come home to again a freezing room. Heat shut off. Was supposed to have a fireplace. there was, just no wood. Go to use the jacuzzi. Only 2 jets work. In the freezing, new Hampshire in February cold. Went to bed, comfortable. Only good thing so far. Wake up, miss the tiny breakfast window. Though not even sure if there was any. Still have not seen another soul. Used the Keurig provided. Teacups can't hold the coffee. Overflowed, AND had to stir with my stylus. Nothing was left with the coffee. Out for the day. Come back, freezing again. Heat off, room cleaned. Still no stirrer . Used the jacuzzi again but just gave up. No dinner, no delivery available in area. Just went to bed. Woke up in the middle of the night freezing. No heat again. Woke up and made coffee, but this time the whole basin overflowed. U g h. Still cold, still no bathroom heat because they removed the knob. Snowed again, no plowing, no sanding. Missed breakfast if there was any. Still have not seen a single person around. At this point I'm disgusted. Go to check it out prepared to discuss all this. What I paid for was expensive and was not received, along with a sore back and knee from falling. But guess what? No one to be found. Left the key, never to return. Feel like we were robbed literally. We pulled up and it was really run down for 300 bucks a nite. We tried to ignore it and have a nice day. We walked into our room and there was lady bugs all over the walls. We ignored it and had a nice hike and came back. We went to turn the T.V. on and it didn't work so we went to get assistance. Nobody to be found. We went to bed. Woke up to use restroom and saw mouse in bathroom. Ignored it and went to bed. In morning woke up and dogs food was eaten by mice . My wife tried to get refund but was told No. We paid 580 for 2 nites for a Jacuzzi and a dog and got no Jacuzzi or T.V. or even wi-fi. Worst experience of our lifes. Suppose to stay for 2 days only survived 18 hours with no refund. read more

Cobwebs all over our room; literally dozens of dead flies in the window sills; no breakfast (which was to be included) one morning because staff "didn't show up;" no hot water for shower another morning (had to shower in a cottage separate from the main house) because "oil truck let them run out." Unexpectedly amazing! Came to Lovett's inn for my 3 yr anniversary. Had dinner and I am very pleased- food was delicious and service was amazing! Breakdown time... To start: Hot delicious roll! App: Crabcake with salsa on the side. Crabcake was perfect- hardly any fillers and super yum. The best part, the salsa was spicy. My bf had Brie wrapped in phyllo dough with a side of green apples and toasted bread. Entree: Shrimp and scallop linguini with lemon sauce. Simple and delish! Dessert: Homemade peach and blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Service was definitely 5-star. Brian was attentive and perfect! We stayed two nights in a cabin by the pool. Couldn't have been happier. The breakfast was delicious and the hospitality was top notch.

Absolutely loved my stay here! I stayed over the long weekend while skiing at Loon mountain, and the new managementt has done an amazing job! Delicious dinner, we got our food quickly even with a party of 19+ also in the restaurant, and there was live music! The rooms and bathrooms were clean and decorated so nicely, and Staff was super accommodating with whatever we needed! Wrapped the stay up with a delicious complimentary breakfast! Lovett's Inn is pricey but you get what you pay for. We got stuck in a snow storm on our way back to Boston from Jay and spent the night in the Sunset Room. Our room was clean, well appointed and plenty big enough for us and all our bags. The attached bathroom was also clean and big enough. The view I remember was of the roof but we had more than one window so maybe I'm just not remembering the good view. We peaked into one of the other rooms in the main house, looking at the web site I think it was Sweet Serenade. It was huge, a monster of a room. It contained a giant king bed and tremendous amounts of floor space. The breakfast was tasty and the view from the dining room picture perfect after the snow storm. read more

Just spend this past weekend at Lovetts Inn and it was great. We stayed in one of the cottages on the property and it was nice and big, along with being comfortable. Owner and chef Janet made a delicious breakfast (included in the room price)- the first morning I had buckwheat blueberry pancakes and the second morning I had a herb & cheese omelet. Yum. Last night she prepared a tasting of roasted duck with a cherry sauce, lamb, and swordfish with salsa. All three dishes were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this place to both stay and/or eat dinner!! read more

The rooms were clean, spacious and beautifully-decorated. This is a really well-run establishment and you truly get a lot for your money. Oh. My. Gosh. We traveled to Lovett's on a trip looking at potential wedding venues, and as soon as we stepped in the door, my first thought was, "Oh yeah. This one." The website made Lovett's look nice, but that was nothing compared to how peaceful and beautiful the house and surrounding grounds are. You can see Cannon Mountain from the back porch, and there are a lot of lovely hikes and things to see nearby, but this area--and this place--were much quieter and less commercialized than other places we looked at further north near Conway and Jackson. Janet and Jim, the innkeepers, were amazingly friendly--I am sure everyone will comment on this, but it bears restating. Since we were the only guests at the time, they invited us to have a drink with them and some of their friends downstairs, and I felt perfectly happy to put Janet in charge of running the logistics of my wedding there. Compared to a lot of other places we looked at Jim and Janet have been in the area a long time, sixteen years, and so they really know the area and the sorts of services that Lovett's Inn can provide, and feel like they're a part of the local community. While we were there, several of their friends stopped by in the afternoon just to say hello to the innkeepers. At no point did we feel--even though the word "wedding" had been bandied about, which normally provokes avarice in the heart of every retailer and vendor within a hundred miles--that the place existed to wring as much money as possible from out-of-towners, or that it was just a bed to sleep in. Staying at Lovett's Inn was a part of our experience in New Hampshire, something to talk about and remember in and of itself. And...omg the food. Holy crap the food. So good. When they were out of the pork loin I wanted to try the first night, Janet went out and bought some the next day--but only one, because apparently the rest weren't up to her standards. Everything she made was delicious, fresh, and better even than the food at some of the fancier places we visited. Our time at Lovett's in the Franconia was the best part of our tour/vacation. Hands down. Other places may have more amenities like health club or spa or be more kid friendly--for that we highly recommend the Christmas Farm Inn--or have a better party scene--check out the Woodstock Inn if that's what you want--but Lovett's was exactly what we wanted after a hectic flight from Texas followed by a fun but chaotic visit with my fiance's family. This is a wonderful place for a relaxing overnight stay or come with a large group and have a party!!! Either way you will be treated like special guests by the owners Jim and Janet. The philosophy here is to give each guest a carefree experience including beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms, and great food! The main building is rustic and beautiful with room after room of antique clocks, knickknack's, comfy sitting area's and dining rooms from a by-gone era. There is even a small, well appointed bar. This is a great little get-a-way place with the wonders of nature just outside the front door of each well equipped and comfortable bungalow. If you are I the area and looking for excellent food you need to try Lovett's ! You need to call ahead, as they seat a minimal amount of people, to assure excellent food and service. The rod alone are worth the trip; I had the Filet, and my fiancée had the seafood pasta..... Honestly one if the best meals we have ever had. The steak melted in my mouth, and did I mention the rolls ! The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is perfectly rustic. As much as I love the Horse and Hound, I have to recommend Lovett's, if your searching for the perfect meal in Franconia. The best part was the personal attentiveness of the owner. He met us at the door by name, and chatted us up for a few minutes before and after the meal. read more

We drove up to NH only to find that our reservation had been cancelled, and were left with no choice but to drive all the way home. The owners (or the person I talked to several times) were totally unapologetic and actually rather brusque in rushing me off the phone. Here are the details: We booked through booking.com in advance. Then, a few days before our trip, I injured my knee and had very limited mobility. The cancellation policy offered no refund (it's a small family-run in, so i can understand they can't afford last-minute loss of revenue), but I called the Inn to see if they'd consider postponing our reservation IF they could rent the room. I told the gentleman on the phone: "I'm injured, but I understand your cancellation policy. However, if you're able to rent our room for this weekend and let us postpone our reservation to another weekend, please give me a call." He said ok. I asked if he needed my number so he could call and let me know. He said he had my number. I didn't hear from the Inn, so we drove up to NH as planned. I called to confirm our check-in time, and the lady on the phone couldn't locate our reservation. She seemed very confused and said she didn't know how to use the computer (to interact with booking.com reservations?). She asked me to call back. When I talked to her again, she told me that our reservation had been cancelled, our room had been rebooked, and then she loudly talked over me as I tried to ask her if there was some mistake. I asked to talk to the gentleman I'd spoken to before but she wouldn't help me out at all. I found out later that rather than calling us, they had re-rented our room, called booking.com to cancel the reservation, and requested that the full fee be paid by us! Fortunately booking.com handled this perfectly, by not canceling the booking without talking to us, and ultimately not charging us for a our room that the Inn gave to someone else. I really don't see how this could be a misunderstanding. At best it is sloppy bookkeeping and very rude customer service. read more

My boyfriend and I recently booked a room at the Lovetts Inn for New Years Eve. We booked this trip based upon the average review of this establishment which showed a 4-4.5 stars. We booked a 'delux room' with a king sized bed and jacuzzi for $220. Upon entering our 'delux suite', we noticed how horrible the room smelt. I have allergies and the entire room STUNK of mold. We couldn't even stand being inside for more than 15 minutes.......the bed was also not a king sized bed like we PAID for. We decided to be nice and not to ruin the owners night because it was New Years Eve and he went to dinner with his wife. We left and figured we would let him know about our dissatisfaction the next day in a polite manner. We sent an email following up about how we never stayed in our room due to my allergic reaction (the suite smelled like mold and must, had a headache right after leaving) and how run down the room was. The owner refused a refund. If I could give this place 0 stars I would and the most they should charge is $50. They should really put some money into the rooms if they are going to charge the amount they are. We are really disappointed with the lack of concern and hospitality. THE CLEANING STAFF STOLE !! The property was clean and cozy but when we left for the day we came back to a few personal items and money missing, we brought it up to the owner as soon as we saw that our things were gone. The owner couldn't even apologize for what his staff had done and it was almost as if he didnt believe us, when we approached him about the situation this morning to see if he made any progress he told us that he believed that they didnt do it when he asked them (a young couple that has worked for him for just three years) BUT OUR THINGS WERE STILL MISSING I would normally recommend a place like this but a staff that steals is absolutely ridiculous! Please share this so no one else loses any valuables! Next time we will be staying elsewhere. This establishment is not worth what youre paying for the rooms, the jets in the juacuzzi and fireplace in our room did not work. We paid almost $500 for two nights for our property to be stolen and for half the amenities in the room to not work. read more

Our meals were fabulous (as usual) and the quaint New England charm of this inn did not disappoint for ambience. We were in Franconia for one night for our daughter's flute camp recital and concert. First it was great to find a place that would rent for one night. The Inn is really beautiful and charming. We stayed in the main house in room 16 (I think the Sunrise room, for families). It was two connected good sized bedrooms (a double bed in each) with a private bath across the hall. The price is very reasonable, maybe because of the hallway bathroom, but there were nice robes in the bedroom and it wasn't an issue. Jim is the greeter and Janet, his wife, is the chef. Jim showed us around and made us feel welcome. He was really nice when our daughters set off the fire alarm with steam from the shower (luckily quickly remedied, even though we felt terrible about it). Since we were only staying one night, we thought it would be nice to give them our dinner business too. Because of the recital we needed a 5 pm reservation but on the phone were told they open for dinner at 5:30 - when we explained the reason, Jim was nice enough to offer to serve us at 5 pm. We were so glad we dined in - Janet is a great chef! My husband and one daughter enjoyed the filet and said the red wine reduction was fantastic. I had the trout with lemon and capers - cooked perfectly - and my other daughter enjoyed the mushroom ravioli with spinach. Our server said we'd have time to fit in dessert, and we were glad we did - unbelievable creme brulee, brownie sundae to die for, flourless chocolate torte, and strawberry/rasberry crisp. In the morning Janet served a full breakfast - the day we were there choice of bacon/cheese/mushroom omelet, scrambled eggs with scallions, pancakes, or oatmeal with ice cream. I loved the scrambled eggs but am sorry I missed out on trying oatmeal that way! My husband raved about the omelet - pancakes were large and on the dense side, all served with fresh fruit, homemade oat and walnut muffins, coffee and juice. There is a beautiful pool (that we didn't get to enjoy) and the cabins looked great. The setting is lovely too - not built up and nice views; the road around to the cabins made a nice morning walk. We spent some time reading in the library area but didn't have time to enjoy the bar or TV sun room. For birders, my daughter was thrilled to see a number of cedar waxwings in the berry bushes outside. They also have three very well-behaved yellow labs who stayed outdoors and are clearly trained to wait to be approached, but are very friendly if you give them any attention. We'd love to go back and spend more time enjoying the Inn and the area. read more
