Yep - I'll concur with Helena B...Upstairs is adorably random. If you seek a cornucopia of gifty,…read morecute-ish items, Upstairs Boutique is your jam. The store is owned by a lovely lady who curates goods from all over. I was especially a fan of the leather cuffs accented by metal rings and the completely over the top cute stitched change purses with random sayings plastered on them. At $5 a piece, these precious little change purses are the perfect on-hand gift. My personal fave it the red and goldenrod circus-esque option that says Boss Lady on one side and "Show Em The Bacon That Yer Makin" on the other. Beyond those goodies, Upstairs Boutique has a small selection of clothing and a baby/kids area near the back. If you're feeling gifty, drop by Upstairs Boutique.

Very disappointing experience. The lady who runs the shop is rather arrogant, and she has…read morerestrictive store hours if you are a working person. I purchased an item at the shop a few years ago, and after getting the thumbs down from my daughter, I returned it, only to be handed a useless piece of paper--a store credit. I am very good about recalling details and do not remember receiving verbal notice about "store credit only returns" nor do I recall being told the store credit is only good for one year. I just literally handed that woman $55 for absolutely nothing while being forced to honor her shoddy business practices. In this day and age with wonderful selections and store policies, elsewhere, I don't see how she continues this narrow and unethical business practice. Her clothing/gift selection is certainly nothing special, so you'd be wiser, in this case, to not shop local.

It's a newer location (old Marshalls) that is a more modern store but about 1/4 the size of the old…read moreone, the people seem nice but due to the space issue there is way less item selection and inventory... like nothing in the gym clothes and equipment category. I got some deals today but there is more to look at in Hoffman or on Roselle in Schaumburg. I hope this one survives.

I decided tonight that I am going to stop wasting my time at this store. I DID find a couple…read moreclothing items that interested me but as usual, when I went to the fitting rooms they were closed. So I went to the alternative self-service fitting rooms (All 2 of them that were both occupied and there was a line of 4 people to use the 2 fitting rooms) I brought my cart to the front of the store and left, leaving my items in the cart. The last time I was there the same thing happened, only I also had to use the restroom which was of course locked and since the fitting rooms were closed then too, I had to make my way all the way back to the front of the store to find someone to unlock the restroom. The someone never came and I again had to find someone to unlock the restrooms. There was also another woman and her child waiting to use the restroom. When I came out and went to the self-service fitting rooms they were occupied with a line of people then too. So I left my cart of things and walked out. The service there is deplorable. How does a store stay in business when their only concern seems to be the theft issues? They pay a guy to stand at the door and check your receipt 5 seconds after you have paid but no one is there to help the customers who actually want to buy something. I believe I have given up on that store.

Gosh; I haven't been in a Ross for a bit and decided to come in to see if I could find any cute…read morebaby finds but what I ended up experiencing was actually a reminder of why I hadn't been there in a while. I went straight to the baby section and half the stuff was on the floor and covered in soda. The toys were all missing pieces or shredded or even broken. I went to the home stuff to see if there were any great deals when I hear overhead that someone is waiting to try clothes on in the fitting room but needs assistance. There were a few workers standing in the same aisle as me talking about plans and what they're going to do after work, while this lady was waiting. Usually I don't mind what they are doing but the fact that we heard the overhead message 3 times requesting the help and they didn't move once. After about 10 minutes of looking wrong, I found a small gift for a family friend. So I went to pay, and there was a huge line probably about 10-12 people deep with just this one cashier open. She's the same one who has been asking for help while these other ladies were standing around chatting about places for the night. I don't often comment on the staff because I've been in there shoes, but after the 6th time hearing the fitting room call out and a name drop on the system to go help it was a bit insane. Needless to say; unless I'm looking for something specific, I think I'll keep going to TJmaxx or Marshall's for the fun goodies.
