How do you get EVERYONE on the dance floor at your wedding? Hire Chris the Rebel! Planning our wedding with no professional help was quite stressful and to be honest, Chris was one of the easiest vendor I had to deal with. My friend recommended him to me and I recognized his name from Wild 94.9 so we were pretty much sold. His packages and prices can accomodate most wedding budgets and we went with everything but lighting since our venue already provided it. Most of our communication at first was through email and he is very responsive. What I was most impressed with was his professionalism and ability to accomodate us so that everything was very "us." Chris provided a form with a few questions so he knew what direction we were going with. Having never planned a wedding, it was a great checklist for me. What songs to play, what not to play (ex girlfriend's song?!), when to play (dance jams in the beg and then bust it out like the clubs towards the end when all the older generations have gone), what genres, specific songs for before the wedding, procession, afterwards, cocktail hour, intro, cake cutting, garter/bouquet toss, dances, etc... I had some obscure songs in mind and Chris had no problems getting them. One of them was from a Pepsi commercial. Another was the Top Gun theme song. But he got them and it was good. I also did not want any mics or mic stands at the ceremony and Chris provided lapel mics for my officiant since I didn't want our pictures to turn out like we were at karaoke. I only physically met up with Chris once before the wedding and that was during the walk-through at the venue with the rest of my vendors. This was very helpful because he could locate the power sources and know where place the speakers and to project the slideshow. It also allowed me to show him my vision. After everything, as the bride, I just wanted to dance and not stop and that's what happened. We had to extend the wedding so the party could continue until the venue didn't allow us anymore. It has almost been a year and people still tell me how rad our wedding was, especially the music. Some of the best photos from the reception were from the dance floor I must admit. Chris deserves all five stars on Yelp and more! After some intensive research and a handful of interviews, we hired Chris to DJ and Emcee our wedding this past October at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco. FRIENDLINESS Chris is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He was always professional and very easy going. He was really delightful to speak to on the phone during all of the planning stages and was never difficult or frustrated with me. I appreciated these qualities about him given that I was a very stressed bride! LIGHTING We also hired Chris to warm up the ballroom with wireless up-lights! The venue did not allow for up-lighting that had any wires/cords sticking out, so we had to find a vendor that could supply these wireless units for us and Chris came through! Beautiful amber lighting surrounded the ballroom creating a warm ambiance and glow. The colors of the lighting changed during the dancing portion to fit our wedding colors (blue and gold)! EMCEE Chris did a great job with the introductions and more importantly, keeping us on our timeline for the evening! There were a few moments when our wedding coordinators were unavailable and Chris along with our photographer stepped into make sure all the events planned for that time at the reception went as planned - I couldn't have been more grateful! MUSIC One of the most important decisions when wedding planning! Chris has every song or can find/get any song you can think of. Not only did he have/play all the songs on our requested list, he was able to get a Chinese theme song to a Kung Fu movie for our parents' grand entrance! Not to mention, he also helped with a musical surprise during one of the speeches! When it came time for the dancing, Chris had the perfect mix (blend) for everyone of all ages! EVERYONE - and I mean EVERYONE was on the dance floor when the music started and danced the night away, literally - there were several dance parties and dance-offs into the evening. Even more, once the "last song" was played, there were still a good amount of guests dancing that Chris played a few extra songs going past the end time of our wedding. I received so many compliments about how great our DJ was after the wedding! Simply put, Chris helped make our wedding unforgettable! Sure, everyone knows 2 or 3 people who DJ, but making sure you have THEE DJ for your special day is a whole new story. Chris is that guy you need at your wedding. If you've been on a search for a DJ for your wedding or special event, stop looking and book him! From the second we sent an email inquiry, to the phone call, to the initial meeting at our venue, to a follow up at the venue again to execution on the day, Chris was professional and wanted to make sure we had our input every step of the way. From the beautiful uplighting, to the non stop moving dance floor, and even to making sure to duct tape our DIY decor that fell down outside, to even coming to the rescue with a screen projector when the one we anticipated to use from a friend began falling over. Chris was there and we never once had to ask him, he did it willingly on his own to make sure our day was memorable. Chris is not cocky in any way. But super friendly and made sure to keep that dance floor moving all night. We had guests who always refuse to dance at weddings, dropping it low and being super sore the next morning. He was able to bring back the old school jams we requested to the newer hits and never once did someone ask "God, what time is it?" because no one wanted the music to end. Everyone was in the zone to those good jams. I wish we could put Chris in our pocket and bust him out at every wedding we go to. Because, we all know, we've been to those weddings where once the music turns on, people slowly get their groove on, and then begin filtering out 30 minutes into it. Not with Chris. Chris was our DJ for our wedding 3 years ago. He was recommended by family. I'll be honest, I only knew a few tidbits about this Chris the Rebel guy. I knew he was a DJ for Wild 94.9 back in the day so I just made the assumption that he would play all the pop-y stuff we hear on the radio and all the cliche wedding ish for the older grown folks. Which was fine with me since I just wanted the vendor locked down and as long as there was music right? Wrong...I never realized until now that the music/entertainment played at weddings would play a huge part in the overall turn out of an event. Chris was super duper easy to work with and replied to all of our emails. Mind you all of our communication was through email, we didn't meet with Chris till the day of our wedding. As with any DJ we sent him a must play list (which all of them were played) and we gave him a very general idea of the type of music we liked. He went above and beyond our "general" idea of music. All music that he played from the ceremony, to the dinner to when it was time to cut the rug up was friggin' AWESOME! Chris came highly recommended from a reputable nightclub DJ. We wanted a DJ that could keep the dancefloor packed and place the focus of the night on our guests, not on himself. Chris did both those things often reading the mood of the room and changing up the tunes to match the needs of our guests. No one had to walk up to the booth to request a song because he played it before they even knew what they wanted to hear. While Chris came recommended from a nightclub DJ, his mixing skills places him on par with any DJ in the club today. From the beginning Chris was very easy to work with and he understood our vision for the evening. He was professional from beginning to end. His website was very user friendly and allowed us to make a "must hear playlist", but was able to fill it with other songs that matched our musical preferences. We had everything planned with three short phone meetings including name pronunciations and "day of" timeline. Hearing those words come from someone in the industry was very confidence- inspiring, so we decided to set up an initial meeting with Chris. He was flexible with his schedule, even driving over 90 miles to meet us on a weeknight without complaint. The interview flowed well, was comfortable, and didn't seem awkward at all. Chris's extensive DJ experience, competitive rates and value, and his compatible personality was ultimately what made us decide to hire him. We didn't even want to interview anyone else! It was a pretty clear choice to book him 9 months in advance! All throughout the wedding planning stages, Chris was quite accessible and easy to communicate with via email, text, and calls. The song selection process was pretty streamlined through a website, where we were able to select songs for our "Must Play" and "Do Not Play" lists. He has a vast library of songs to choose from, or he'll get the song you request if he doesn't have it already. About a week before the wedding, Chris met us and our wedding coordinator at our wedding venue (again, driving over 90 miles on a weeknight!) to finalize details. He explained how he planned on carrying out what we envisioned for audio and visual and made sure we were okay with it. Going through this ahead of time definitely gave us less things to worry about during our big day. During the wedding day, the strategic placement of the audio equipment blended in with the background and was unobtrusive. There were no issues with the mics or volume during the ceremony nor reception. The uplighting and GOBO pattern projected on the dancefloor "upped" the ambiance to the next level. The music also rocked! One of my main pet peeves is rough transitions between songs during the dancing hours. Chris's mixing was smooth and people were on the dance floor the whole night! Everything went off without a hitch. We were able to focus on our wedding and enjoy ourselves. Chris is a seasoned professional. He's very thorough and dependable with his services. And in the end, we truly felt that HE appreciated our business as clients. He even mailed us a thank you card afterwards. Chris DJ'd our wedding back in November and it was easily one of the best decisions we made. Prior to that, we had been to a wedding that he worked and it was the most fun we had ever had on the dance floor. Somehow he outdid himself at our wedding. He is super easy to work with because he knows pretty much every song ever made, and he is great at getting everyone in the room out on the floor. We had a pretty diverse crowd at our reception, but he was ready with salsa, classics, and pop to accompany all the rap and 80s that we requested. We hired Chris for our wedding reception, and found him to be very friendly and professional. He met with us at the venue a few months ahead of time and walked us through the various options and the basic plan. He was very responsive regarding questions we had and last minute song changes and did some custom mixing for our first dance song. He also hooked us up with a last minute dance floor order, which was very helpful. Basically, we gave Chris a list of songs we liked and he extrapolated from it, making the reception incredibly easy and worry-free. Chris was also really good about keeping things moving and staying on top of the schedule (toasts, dinner, first dance, cake cutting, etc.). My husband and I hired Chris for our wedding at the Bently Reserve this past June, and we truly we loved working with him. He made our wedding such a fun, memorable evening, and we cannot recommend him more highly! When we started looking for a DJ, my husband and I knew immediately what kind of music we DIDN'T want at our wedding: no cheesy wedding songs, no lame novelty acts, basically nothing that came with its own dance moves. We wanted music that was actually GOOD and got people to just have fun and dance and be themselves - something we've found distressingly rare at weddings. But more than that, we wanted our wedding to have a very specific vibe: my husband and I are both children of the 90s and aficionados of hip-hop and R&B, and we wanted every part of our wedding to reflect that part of us. When we first talked to Chris, we knew right away that he was perfect -- and, if you're looking for a fellow fan of 90s hip hop, you honestly won't find anyone more excited about that music than Chris. We worked with him to create a very specific cocktail/dinner mix with lots of hip hop throwbacks, and slow jams (think Erykah Badu, Common, Tribe, Biggie, etc). So you think you can dance?! I was so anti-typical wedding DJ that I went actively searching for someone to make me feel like I was a young clubber (back to the hey days in Montreal). I found Chris through the Wild 94.9 website. For a "rebel", I have to say, he's genuinely one of the most upstanding guys. He was professional from start to finish. Organized, affordable, and I think he called me more than I called him just to touch base. He handled our ceremony music and presentation of our slideshow, and did mashups at our wedding, which my university friends really enjoyed! Where do I even begin? I wasn't even the bride for the wedding but HAD to write this review because Chris and his team were so amazing and awesome. I was one of the bridesmaids that was tasked with doing the slideshow and Chris reached out ahead of time and set up a folder to upload the file. Chris was so incredibly responsive, quicker than any vendor that I have ever worked with. He was amazing....On the day I was to upload the file, my password did not work and I emailed him super early in the morning and what do you know, within minutes my password was reset. Talk about taking care of your customers. Music? Hands down, THE BEST!! I kept turning around and asking "Are you serious?" because his music was so so good. He was given direction on the genre but he nailed it. I don't dance but he got me grooving the whole night, to the point of soreness! Of course, every wedding has one individual that might have drank too much. Well.....Chris handled with such professionalism and grace, even though the guest kept trying to take over the DJ booth. Chris was wonderful! We gave him a few ideas of the type of music we liked and didn't like (who actually wants to hear the Chicken Dance...again) and he took it from there. We had an excellent mix of music from Frank Sinatra to Tupac. Additionally, he had a few Flogging Molly and Iron Maiden tracks, allowing the groom to mosh on the dance floor (insert eye roll from bride). The music for our entrances and exists were flawless. We also used Chris for lighting, and while a little more expensive than some of the other quotes, we felt better knowing he was there the whole time. We hired Chris for our wedding this summer and he was amazing! He was professional, responsive and reasonably priced. We asked him to follow a specific playlist (with some obscure songs) for a portion of our wedding, and he did exactly what we asked without hesitation. For later in the evening, we gave him a few songs that exemplify our tastes and asked him to go from there. It was fantastic! He read the crowd and played the right songs at the right time. I am beyond thrilled with Chris. He is so easy to work with, knows his music and is very professional. He gave me suggestions for a cake cutting song, and bouquet toss song. Also, the day of the wedding my dad changed our father daughter dance song at the last minute & Chris made the change without any issues.
