We ultimately ended up leaving WITHOUT OUR ORDER because there were so many orders ahead of us (which we were not informed of). I cannot put in words how horribly understaffed the place was. I should mention a woman was making literally all the ice cream orders while a man just watched her behind the counter? Unclear his role at the establishment. Walked here to get some ice cream after having dinner down the street. My first time there. I didn't order anything, but the person I was with ordered the ice cream that came with a Oreo cookie. All in all there's really not much ice cream that's in the dish after they're done making it. For $10 you'd think you would get more ice cream. It's kind of gimmicky, but she enjoyed it. My daughter and I went to Mixins after a nice dinner in Benson a couple months ago. She's been wanting to go here for a while so she was pretty excited. We parked out front, walked in, and stepped up to the counter and waited for a couple minutes for one of the employees to finish the ice cream they were making for another customer. The young employee was not super friendly but friendly enough....? I believe each ice cream concoction was around $10. After ordering, it took about 10 minutes to get our order, which was fine because we weren't time-constrained and each item takes a bit to make. Each item was good but not sure if it's worth the full $10+, in my humble opinion. They were good but there wasn't much actual ice cream there, but a lot of the add-in's like graham crackers, whipped cream, and a toasted marshmallow, (or similar items). This was the worst experience in my entire life ordering food. We waited over 45 minutes and left because there were a bunch of orders in front of us still waiting to be fulfilled and we couldn't wait another half hour. The one woman actually working there was incredibly slow and there was a guy employee there too just bumbling around while many people were waiting for their orders. It was absolutely pathetic. Please don't go here. This place needs to go out of business and disappear off the face of the earth for the good of humanity. This place is not even worthy of 1 star. In Nebraska visiting from Minnesota and we wanted some ice cream, this place looked like a great place to go. Hours were til 10 so we went and when we walked in there was one person up front making stuff. She rudely said "we're closing soon" and never said if we could order or not. So we walked out. Not to mention there was atleast 6 other people sitting around with no ice cream, as we're leaving I noticed the hours were until 10pm. Why are we closing early but not only that but refused service. Never had such a poor experience at an ice cream shop. Highly highly highly recommended to anyone that thinks of coming here to not to. Wow! Goshee (not sure on spelling) at the Mixins Rolled Ice Cream location off of 108th street was patient, knowledgeable and kind. I peppered her with questions and asked for recommendations on my first rolled ice cream experience. A menu of 23 possible ice cream selections were displayed and custom creations were also welcomed. I opted for the drum stick creation and my husband couldn't resist the strawberry cheesecake. Watching our rolled ice cream morph from liquid to a frozen delight could pass as entertainment. The menu did not list prices. Large cup creations were $7 and child size was $5-I asked. The ingredients were fresh, the ice cream was scraped and rolled into four rolls of awesomeness and we will be back--SOON! My drum stick creation had vanilla ice cream, nuts, chocolate, caramel and an upside down sugar cone. Modern lighting, marble top tables and ample seating make for a comfortable indoor experience. We parked at the door but had cruised Rockbrook village looking for Mixins before we realized it was on the east side of 108th. Portions are large and on our next trip we will probably share a selection. Mixins serves up ice cream rolls, beautiful creations, and a friendly experience for ice cream lovers. Overall: 1/5 * Due to lack of communication with their customers. Stopped here for my son for some ice cream. HaThere were 7 kids & 3 adults in front of me- I thought they had already ordered, apparently they hadn't. After I had already ordered & waited 25 minutes, the staff decided to tell all the other people coming in that the wait was going to be 20 MINUTES MINIMUM for ice cream to be rolled. Not okay. The only thing suppressing my rage at this point for waiting an absurd amount of time for ice- was the sweet whafting smells. Pretty ticked that I wasn't warned or given an eta on how long the ice cream would have taken. If I had known, I'd have gone to 3 other ice cream establishments all in the 45 minutes I waited for said ice cream. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time now, and I drove by it the other day and saw a huge line outside. This place is definitely a popular place for rolled ice cream. I ended up going with other people and we each ordered four different types of ice creams. We got lucky and there was no line when we arrived, but as soon as we were leaving a line of people had already started. When they place the mix on the metal plate they write out the customers' names. It is so cute that they add in this personalized component. Writing someone's name upside down is a real talent!! We loved our ice cream and I hope to come here again!! I would say that the price ($7) for each is a bit much, but I don't mind it if it's a once in a while splurge. Unfortunately there isn't really anything positive to share about our experience. My friend and I have both been in the service industry for decades and are usually pretty grace giving and understanding. But this was beyond chaotic with no sense of urgency or communication of what was going on. When we came in the place had heavy smell of weed, never the best sign. I put my order in, was not told that there was a long wait. The card reader was down, thankfully I had cash to pay for my friend behind me. I started to notice there was quite a few people waiting around, with no ice cream and they did not look happy. That's when I noticed about 15-20 cups (orders) sitting in front of ours... as someone in the industry I would be hustling in a panic. There was absolutely no hustling, multiple people left to go into the back, no one rolling the ice cream or anything. There was one time where there was just one girl standing out there, not doing anything, 30+ annoyed people waiting. Was something broken? Were you out? No idea what was happening there was plenty of people staffed. No one communicated what the hold up was. We started chatting with the table next to us, they had already been waiting 20 minutes. We kind of just sat back and watched the ship sinking. I felt bad, but they sure didn't seem to be too phased. Again no hurry, no apologizing, no explanation. They also got all the cups mixed up, so some of the people that had waited 20 minutes got served before the people that had been waiting 40. Many were very heated. Apparently standing at the glass and hovering for your order is the way to get it made. At 45 minutes I went up and politely asked for a refund. We needed to leave. They said 'we'll make yours right now.' I said no I did not want to have our name jumped ahead that wasn't fair. They insisted. So we waited... 15 more minutes we got our melted ice cream. The time between when it was rolled to when it got the toppings was too long and it just wasn't good now. Ideas that maybe could help. I would start putting the time on your cups, so your people are aware of the order. Have one person dedicated to restocking and getting what is needed. Have people either dedicated to one order, start to finish or completely glued to their own station-they don't move. Communicate what is happening and do not lie about the wait time! (We left at an hour and people were still being told it would be 10-15 minutes) If something is broken just yell it out to the waiting customers so they can have opportunity to be understanding of your situation. Have a coupons for a free order, to help people to come back after stuff like this happens. Don't serve it if it's not up to your business standard. The hour wait wasn't worth what I received and unfortunately will now never try it again. read more

Lots of good things going for this downtown Thai rolled ice cream place. Parking is metered street parking- 16 options of flavors, which is a mix of fruity, salty, and sweet savory items. There are a lot of cookie themed flavors. All items are $7 across the board. Our wait time at 7pm on a Saturday night was 40-50 mins from order to receiving our ice cream. I am understanding that this is a labor intensive service, and with at least 12-15 orders in front of us, would take a while. However, with 2 staff working their butts off on the cold slabs on what is likely their busiest night of the week is rough on both them and patrons. Also, the set up here is not welcoming for a 35+ min wait with a full house- there is simply not enough seats and barely enough standing room. Forget it if you can't stand for that long/wearing heels/ here with your elderly, handicapped or injured friends for family- there's just no room for you to sit or a comfy spot to wait that long. This is the issue I have, not that I had to wait 40+ mins, it's that there was no great place to do it. With the weather being winter, outside was also not an option. I'm sure that it's a great experience if they're not busy, but if they are- beware. I just didn't see the value in standing on my feet in heels with my elderly parents standing also for 40 mins for $7 ice cream. The ice cream is good, but really not an enjoyable experience for us. The staff was so great though. Smiling and happy the whole time and super polite and friendly. It's not their fault, just a system that needs improvement.
