When the stylist finally began, her attitude and overall demeanor were noticeably negative, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the stylist started blow-drying my hair without applying a heat protectant. I had to request that it be used, which should be standard practice. Clients should not have to ask for basic hair care measures. I also found the pricing to be excessive for the level of service provided. Certain treatments, such as deep conditioning, are not included in some services and come at an additional cost. During my appointment, the stylist was whispering and gossiping with another stylist, which felt unprofessional. Overall, the salon appears to charge for many add-ons while not delivering a level of service that justifies the cost. Usually bleaching my roots is a 3+ hour appointment, but she cut, bleached and styled my hair in 2.5 hours. Really appreciated that. And the cut and color was the bomb! She really understands hair. I've been in the DC area for about 8 years and struggled the first 3 years to find a stylist with whom I felt comfortable, was a top-notch professional and was respectful of others time. Then, about 2 and half years ago, a friend gave me Luxe Looks card. While she had never visited the salon personally, she swore that anyone walking out always looked fabulous. She found out about Luxe by accident when she complemented and asked several strangers who their hair stylist was; no surprise they all said Luxe and gave her a business card. After a few weeks of debating with myself, I called and made an appointment and have been coming back every since, and that was more than two years ago. I have never been disappointed with the professionalism, service, experience and ultimate class displayed by all of the employees. My hair is healthier, longer and more vibrant. I haven't tried the bundles yet (because I already had hair before I made the appointment), but the Brazilian Island Wave and Indian Steamed Curl are right up my alley and next on my list.
