She was so kind and understanding, and went above and beyond by showing me different styles that flattered me and also walked me through the different fabrics she had available. She was also very transparent with her pricing and worked with my budget which I truly appreciated from the start. After my first visit to Miyuki, I also went to Casa Blanca and Bijou Bridal, but I just couldn't find a dress that felt like me. That's when I decided to go back to Miyuki, and I'm so glad I did! She took my vision and turned it into my absolute dream dress. Not to mention the silk fabric she used was STUNNING. I wanted a custom cheongsam made for a pageant, and after looking at her previous work I contacted her on 8/24/19 to consult! I stumbled on Miyuki's website by accident - it was one of few places that were open on the island. I knew that finding a dress in the certain amount of time I had was a long shot (I visited her on Aug. 3rd and was getting married Aug. 8th). But you never know until you try right? Her place is located in a high rise business building. We parked in the parking garage underneath because she validates! Her studio is small and quaint. She has all the dresses on a rack to the left when you enter the room. The room is cozy w/ seating on the right for people to sit and watch you try on dresses across from the little dressing area in the corner that is separated by a curtain. She had a couple for me to try on and I ended up picking the first dress I tried. We learned that she makes all her dresses from scratch and that each dress is one of a kind! Her artwork is beautiful too as she showed me some of her sketches. Truly talented. Her prices are fair and she's willing to work with your budget. If I had more time, I would've had her sketch / make my perfect dress for me. She does her own alterations and she was able to complete mine in 3 days! She also made a mask for me out of the materials that she took out of the dress!! It made great pictures! Miyuki is an absolute dream to work with. Extremely nice and communicative. Where to begin?! My husband and I had to postpone our big Hawaii wedding until next year but we decided to do a small wedding with just family on our date. I didn't have a dress but I knew what I wanted. I also went to fashion school for 4 years so I'm a bit picky, and little crazy, when it comes to design details and quality. I came to Miyuki in a panic trying to see if she could alter a size 10 dress (that I found online) to fit me. She replied that she could but it would be super expensive when she could just MAKE the entire dress for me! I could've cried. We celebrated a destination wedding on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii in February 2020 and I had the great fortune to work with Myuki Liem as my wedding gown designer and dressmaker. She was referred to me by a family member who also works in the tightly knitted wedding vendor community in Honolulu, Hawaii. Miyuki had made this family members wedding dress as well. I must be honest, initially I had some reservations as my wedding planner said that with a destination wedding and the relatively short turn around time that I would be better off buying an off the shelf dress from a retailer on the mainland or in my hometown. My first visit to Miyuki's showroom was in November and my wedding was in February. It was a tight turn around time. I am so glad that I trusted my gut. I absolutely loved my wedding dress and I appreciated working with Miyuki in particular. I knew that I was on the right track when, I left a dress fitting with Miyuki and my 12-year-old daughter remarked that she wanted the dress preserved so that she could wear it when she eventually gets married. This is unusual for my daughter as we have a very different clothing esthetic. Miyuki is a tremendous dressmaker, but she is also a visionary who goes beyond the confines of just making a dress. I was an older bride and it was important to me that my gown looked good but also age and venue appropriate. It was an elegant outdoor wedding. Miyuki helped me to imagine a style and unique elements for the dress that would work best for me. She has helped me in so many ways that go beyond just sewing a dress ... including referring me to a great place to get a manicure locally to advice on how to trim inches off my torso (including eating less ramen), she helped me decide on jewelry to wear with the wedding dress, what type of Haku (traditional flower crown) to wear or not wear, and she also steered me in the right direction with body shaping undergarments. Miyuki made the sometimes-stressful experience of planning a destination wedding into a wonderful experience. I will always look back fondly at my wedding and I felt absolutely terrific in my wedding dress walking down the aisle. From start to finish working with Miyuki on my wedding dress was an incredible experience. I have never had a dress made specifically for my body. Miyuki took a dozen measurements and sent me a beautiful sketch of a dress that went beyond my imagination. And what really made this an incredible experience was that Miyuiki was so patient with me. She never got angry at all the micro details or additional requests to alter the dress I had as we went along. The process was fun. It was so fun that I bought 2 custom made dresses. I bought a custom designed wedding dress and a dress for our out of towners reception. My daughter has asked me to have a dress made as well. Which we will one day do. I can see going to Miyuki to have a prom dress made for my daughter. I also plan on going back to Miyuki for gala dresses and custom-made dresses for other important occasions. It was that good of an experience. I have no reservations in recommending Myuki for her prompt and professional service, for the quality of her work or for her calmness and ease of mind that she passed on to me when I worked with her. read more

If I could I'd give Miyuki all the stars in the sky I would. She is absolutely amazing. I live on big island and it's very hard to find a wedding dress there. I decided to fly to oahu for the day. I had made appointments for three bridal shops and I was sure that one of them was going to have the dress I was looking for. They had some pretty dresses but none of them matched my personality and my outdoor Hawaii wedding. Long story short... after a day of running around town I gave up and decided to go have lunch. I was on Instagram looking for gowns and she popped up. When I met her I knew that I wanted her to design my dress. My dress came out amazing and she made it work within my budget. I had a pretty specific vision, and specific lace I wanted to work with. Miyuki made that vision a reality WITHIN my budget. She is kind and easy to work with. Miyuki is a brides fairy god mother. Where to start! I shopped at a few bridal gown shops and could not find the dress that was "thee one" for my special day. At the last shop I stopped at while dress shopping (WhiteHotHawaii) the owner Daisy listen to me talk about how this shop had a dress that I liked the top part of and that shop had the a dress that I liked the bottom part but I just couldn't find anywhere that had the perfect dress all in one. I had the most amazing time working with Miyuki. My husband and I planned an elopement due to covid. I had only a couple of weeks to find a dress off the rack that fit and was within my budget. Miyuki had several dresses that she could offer to me off the rack. The first one I tried on was an absolutely perfect fit and I felt gorgeous. I knew that this was the dress for me. The only alteration that the dress needed was a shortening of the straps slightly. Miyuki worked with my work schedule to have the dress ready for our wedding. I actually came across Miyuki by chance and I'm so glad I did. In June 2018, I was getting my hair and make up done at WhiteHOT Hawai'i for an event. I saw Miyuki pinning a Cheong Sam on a bride. At the time, I was vying for the title of Miss Chinatown Hawai'i 2019. I already had my competition Cheong Sam, but thought if I won I definitely wanted to have a different and more modern Cheong Sam for my reign. After I won Miss Hawai'i Chinese 1st Princess and secured a spot on the Miss Chinatown court, i contacted Daisy (owner of WhiteHOT) who put me in touch with Miyuki!!! From there, she has been more than amazing! Bringing my custom Cheong Sam visions to LIFE and adding even MORE. I however, did have a budget for my dress and Miyuki went with it. I was so happy!!! She even told me that she used to sew Cheong Sam back in Singapore and was so happy to be sewing them again. I even recommended her to several of the Miss Chinatown court members, the queen herself is also having a custom Cheong Sam by Miyuki. Miyuki goes above and beyond for clients and I couldn't have been more lucky to have found her! Miyuki is a dream to work with! I first saw her work on Instagram and couldn't believe that she custom designs and hand makes all of her creations. She was living in Asia at the time, but she was super easy to communicate with and understood my vision perfectly! She is now in Honolulu and I urge all of the bride-to-be's to contact her ASAP because she books quickly! I selected a dress from her website and she sent me a form to get measured at a tailor. Because I never met her in person for a fitting I was a little worried that my dress wouldn't fit properly, but when my dress arrivend a couple months later it fit perfectly!
