Justin, his Mom, and staff are so helpful and friendly. They know their craft. We went in thinking that we wanted the standard black tux with accent colors. After learning a little backstory on tuxes and suits from Justin and realizing that we wanted the guys to really be POPPIN, we went from black tuxes to a champagne color tux for my groom and full maroon tuxes for the groomsmen. Absolutely no regrets. Photos and videos all look amazing with them. I truly appreciate Justin taking the time to educate and even push us to move away from the norm and do something more exciting which in the end really fit us best. I believe the price for tux rentals are pretty similar at most of the shops in Honolulu, and since we have no real need to keep tuxes it's a great price at $250 per. Vows is one of the few local, family-owned bridal & formals shop in Oahu and has been in business for decades - Vickie (The Owner) and her team had been really helpful from our first meeting all the way until the big day! For my bride & grooms out there, always try to start looking for your gowns & suits about 7-9 months prior to your big day! That way you'll be able to find THE perfect gown for you and have it tailored to fit you perfectly. I started my search around December 2023 and our wedding was set for August 2024 - I went to three dress shops and received varying ranges of attention & care based on my budget (under 2.5k for the dress). At the other shops, I felt rushed or a lack of care when trying on dresses. Vickie & her assistants helped me with dresses that fit my initial vision and then would bring suggestions within budget based on my input & reactions towards the dress. After choosing a dress, they ordered the dress based on my measurements and would text me to come in periodically for fittings and making adjustments (such as how long I wanted my train, how much to hem the dress based on my heel length). I must add that my husband went WAY out of his comfort zone for his suit after encouragement from Justin (He handles the mens wear) - For the grooms, I highly recommend coming in with an opinion on what you'll be wearing on your big day! Normally grooms select navy, or black for their suit but Justin suggested my husband to go for a stunning emerald detailed suit jacket, the coordinating bow tie to make him really stand out from his groomsmen (who wore ties). I really hate to leave a negative review for a small business, but I wouldn't want another bride to have the experience I did. This was my first time trying on wedding dresses, and I was still figuring out my style. I shared what I was looking for with the sales associate, but after that, they wouldn't let me try anything outside of that category. A man there wouldn't even let me into the room to browse the dresses -- which felt strange, since exploring options is part of the process. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share what happened during my recent appointment here. I bought my wedding dress here and went in for a second fitting. Something about it did not look right and I tried to voice my concern to the seamstress. Not only was the staff dismissive throughout the appointment making me think my concerns were invalid, but at one point, I was inappropriately touched on my breasts without consent under the guise of "adjusting" the dress. There was no communication, no warning, and it felt completely invasive. I was stunned, uncomfortable, and honestly shaken. This is NOT how any bride should be treated during what should be a joyful experience. After i got out of my dress I voiced my concern to the two ladies helping me, which is something I never do. I love love love Vows! I got married back in 2023 and this was the first bridal dress shop I went to and found my perfect dress the same day. Vicky was amazing during the dress fitting and really listened to what I was looking for and sticking within budget. I had so much fun during my dress fitting and was super happy with how the dress looked and fit perfectly on our wedding day. I actually went back to Vows for a second wedding dress when my husband and I had our second wedding in Portugal for my extended family to attend! We also rented tuxes for the wedding for my husband, his groomsmen, my brother, and dad/FIL. We had a great time trying on tuxes and and Vicky and Justin really went above and beyond with helping everyone find a tux they felt and looked good in. They also really hyped everyone up during the fitting. My brother was on my side for the wedding and Justin and Vicky were able to match his tux perfectly to the bridesmaid dresses. Lots to say about my visit at Vows to buy my wedding dress. Starting from when my partner, my friend, and I walked in for our scheduled appts. A middle aged male greeted us, and asked my budget, where we had visited and what I found that I liked. I guess he didn't like my answers because he immediately started saying that we should just go to one of the places I already went and buy the dress because probably they don't have anything for me. Weird. But I was still in the browsing stage of shopping; I wasn't totally sure exactly what my taste was and was open to trying any style. He didn't seem to want to allow me to try anything on. He said, and I quote "we don't want to show you anything outside your budget, because you know women are run by emotions. Men aren't like that. A man would never test drive a Ferrari if he can't afford it. But a woman will try a dress on outside of her budget." Crazy comment to make. But okay. He then continued on and said he understands why, because "a wedding is the most important moment of a woman's life because it is when a man finally decides to commit to her which is important because he's risking half his money." EXCUSE ME???? At this point my partner, my friend and I are all looking at each other like is this guy foreal? At that point one of the female associates motioned for me to come to the fitting room. It seemed as though they were familiar and unhappy with this male's ranting and raving but knew they wouldn't be able to get him to stop. Two women, one around his age and one older came and were asking me what styles I liked. I said I was open to trying most anything because I wasn't sure yet. They seemed impatient with me. They gave me a few dresses to try on. When I said I didn't like the style of one of the dresses, the woman sounded frustrated and said "because it's not your size!" So my partner came along (to his own schedule appt) so that he could try on tuxes to see what he would like. We are simple people and don't dress up very often. So we wouldn't even know exactly what we would want. The male refused to even let my partner try anything on because "he doesn't know what he wants" and "this isn't Macy's, you don't get to just try on anything randomly." He also mentioned that there is "no point" in him trying anything on because I don't have a dress yet. The entire time I was trying on dresses, the male was going on and on about how long he's been doing this, how many thousands of weddings he's coordinated, how my plans for my bridesmaids is going to look ugly because I need to have more than 15 bridesmaids. My partner, my friend, and I was hoping to have a fun day of playing dress up and seeing what we like since we are not fancy people and don't wear formal attire very often. But these people totally ruined it by being focused only on the sale and not the experience, despite the male claiming they "don't need to make quotas or sales because we are the only local boutique." But their attitude was far from local and it was clear that they only care about how much money we could spend there. We had booked an hour and a half worth of appts and left after 25 minutes because we just couldn't stand the horrible service anymore. The male then had the audacity to say "come here I'll explain it more to you," as if we didn't just spend the last 25 minutes trying to drown him out! It was an insane experience and we were all left dumbfounded on how unprofessional, sexist, and classist he was. Any expertise that the owner has was totally overshadowed by the male's adamant mansplaining. Even if he had a valid point somewhere in all of his nonsense, it was so horrifically delivered that no one would wanna listen to him. My relationship with them started a few years ago when both my wife and I purchased our wedding outfits from them. My wife's wedding dress was money as well as my suit and fit exactly how we wanted it to. Fast forward a few years later and I decided to return to get additional suits from them regardless of the fact that the events I needed them for were not for any kind of wedding event. That is how positive I remembered my experience working with them for our wedding. I do not regret it one bit. They remembered both my wife and I as soon as we walked through the door. Their hospitality made it a very personable and positive experience yet again. My additional suits came out exactly how I wanted them to despite my desire to change up the fit/style. Vickie and Justin were extremely flexible and tailored my new suits to the new style I desired. They gave me great recommendations when I wasn't sure what type of suits I wanted and helped guide me to find the right ones that I felt were within my comfort zone and style. They are great listeners and communicators which were essential in creating suits that I envisioned in my head and bringing them to life. This place constantly harassed us regarding missing info despite there being receipts of emails being sent and constant phone calls. One of our groomsmen had sent in his measurements multiple times via email, and each time they claimed they never received it despite confirming the email address in the sent email was correct via screenshot. Even after changing form of communication from email to text, they would still lose his measurements and never order his tux until they needed to do a rush order and charge him extra. We had also been contacted regarding a family member that was trying to get a tux the same as our groomsmen despite not being a groomsmen. I confirmed this was ok as long as they had a bow tie instead of a necktie. This call took place months ago. I get photos from said family member and I find out the bow tie was changed to a necktie. The only response I got from the business was that they paid for the tux so they could make those changes. While that is completely valid, I also ended up calling that family member and they claimed they did not ask for ANY changes at all which means this shop just tried covering their asses. I don't understand why my fiance and I had to be bombarded with numerous phone calls each month to confirm selections and measurements when it wasn't even our final call anyway. We felt harassed and bombarded during this entire process. It also did not help that the stylist we worked with did not have much selection and also refused to go with our original color preference (which they had) in the first place. read more

I went to Vow's to look for a wedding dress during my third wedding dress shopping attempt. After having a very bad experience at Casablanca bridal, the woman of Vow's was amazing. She does have a bit of a speech impediment, so it is hard to understand her, but it is very clear that she has the knowledge necessary to help Brides of all different kinds. She was kind, accommodating, nice, funny, understanding, as well as she also had the bluntness and honesty that you need as a bride searching for a dress. My budget was about $1000 -$1,500 and she had a large selection of dresses that were absolutely gorgeous for about 1500 or a little more. Prior to coming here I had gone to Masako and Casablanca. Masako had nice dresses, but vowels seem to have a bigger selection of what I was looking for. I honestly didn't even know what I was looking for and changed my mind halfway to the fitting, but nevertheless Vow's had a big selection of beautiful dress dresses. There were so many that I could've seen myself in. I would 500% recommend this place to anyone. The customer service was great, the selection was larger than other places I went, and the overall field of the place was friendly. THANK YOU VOWS!!!!!! read more

With an upcoming wedding, I had high hopes for Vows as I purchased my prom dress from this small, local shop back in 2011. I loved my prom dress and remember how quick and easy the process was. My fiance was in need of a tuxedo for our wedding and our selected colors were green and gold. I was hoping to have him try various styles, textures, and materials but that did not happen as the male worker literally made us WANT to leave as soon as we walked in. Let's start from the beginning. I made a 30 minute tuxedo appointment for 1PM on a Monday. We were greeted by 3 people - a nice and quiet young lady, a young maybe 20s male and the reason why I'm writing this review - an unprofessional, rude, and obnoxious middle aged man. From previous reviews, it looks like we're not the only one who dealt with him. He didn't bother to ask us our names, what we were looking for in a tuxedo, or anything. He kept calling my fiance "dude" and was dropping "F" bombs left and right! For 30 minutes, he talked about fancy cars, shoes, and clothes and how a "man" spends money on these things because he's classy and wants attention. He basically made us feel broke for even coming into his shop. I still don't know how these topics made any sense to our search for my man's tuxedo. He showed us his previous work and custom tuxedos, saying that it cost at least $2K. I'm sorry, but his work looked less than mediocre and did NOT look like it was even a fraction of what he claimed his clients paid for. It was pretty similar looking to Macy's, Shein, or Amazon; nothing special. We also told him our wedding's color theme (green) and KEPT INSISTING on burgundy or pink as his tuxedo - none of these colors match, nor does my fiance normally wear colors like these. This guy doesn't consider anything you tell him and I'm surprised there aren't more negative reviews about Vows because of him. In addition, he was extremely hesitant to let my fiance try on ANYTHING, even the "stock" or displayed coats, saying that it wouldn't make sense to as it won't fit him. And, I won't forgot this, he said, "In London, they don't let you try on a tuxedo". UMMM, we're in Hawaii?! And the selection wasn't anything exciting. Their selection of tuxedos were extremely lacking in color, texture and designs, so it's almost like a custom tux would be the only option if you wanted something a little "unique". If you like that, have $2K+ lying around and can deal with an unprofessional guy, then go here I guess. Finally, I am sooooo glad I cancelled my bridal dress appointment here because I would've left in tears or heartbroken with how I would've been treated. Their overall dress selection isn't even the greatest, so it's not worth spending your time and money on this place. There are other AMAZING shops with exceptional service out there. read more

I was visiting Hawaii for a wedding and had a suit rental here at Vows. As soon as I arrived at Vows, Victoria had the suit ready for fitting. After I tried the suit on, I showed Victoria and I was so shocked that she knew EXACTLY what was considered "perfect." Let's just say my typical size on a blazer is 36S but she had me try on a 38S on the first turn around (Vicky already said this is it perfect) . As soon as I tried on the usual size I get, 36S, it just didn't feel right and she was right, the one Vicki picked was the right one! She also Did final measurements to make sure of any last adjustments but from what it looks like, this lady has MANY years under her belt!! Thank you for your expertise Victoria! This boutique is a gem that is passed by so many times. The owner & her son are friendly & down to earth. Their gowns/selections are abundant with new shipments coming in frequently.
