Headed over here for dinner on the weekend. They have seating inside and a few tables outside. We decided to sit at the table outside, especially since we were in a nice area that wasn't too busy with traffic. I ordered a chopped scallop roll, one piece of toro nigiri, and futomaki. The toro was just OK, but the rest of the rolls were good. My friend ordered the chicken karaage. There were two choices of either deep fried chicken wings or chicken leg nuggets. She chose the nuggets, however when it came, it wasn't what we were expecting at all. It looked like chicken nuggets that come frozen from a package and definitely not the karaage we had in mind of just boneless chicken. It came on a plate with dipping sauce and a salad. That was the only thing that was unexpected and a little disappointing. Everything else tasted fresh and yummy. The tempura came hot and crispy. Overall, the service was good especially since we sat outside and usually it is harder to flag down a server. The food for the prices was reasonable and I would definitely come back here for sushi if I'm in Kelowna. read more

This place is horrible. My peers and I order online and had our food delivered, however we were met with half our order and damaged boxes. When calling to correct this problem we were met with a man who kept babbling that he didn't know what to do and that we should order again. No refund for this order and we were given store credits instead, yeah, like I'll be spending another cent here. The food was fine but pray you do not encounter an incident as I'm to believe they will leave you as angry as they left us. read more

Awful green tea. Excellent miso. Fresh Ginger, not dyed. Salmon sashimi is unreal. No alcohol license. Spider roll is excellent. Rainbow roll also good. Not a whole lot of seating, but nice outdoor setting. Very simple décor. Very small selection, but what they had was very good. read more

Another great locals haunt found thanks to Yelp. Fantastic value for the great quality sushi here. My wife and I each tried had a sushi box, she added a couple of extra nigiri and I added a yam roll. Together with some prawn tempura we each came away perfectly satisfied. Very high quality fish with no hint of flash-frozen-ness. It's not too often we can get away from such a great sushi restaurant for less than $50 total for dinner including (non-alcoholic) drinks and tip. The service is very fast which is good as they don't take reservations and the capacity is very low so you might have to wait for a table. It should also be noted that the location is fantastic too. With a less than 5-minute walk to either a small beach or large and beautiful waterfront park, the low capacity is a but of a non-issue as you can just get take out and hoof it to either venue pretty quick. Bottom line: If you like sushi and are in Kelowna you should definitely give Mizu a try. read more

We visit Mizu anytime we are in Kelowna. They are one of the original Japanese restaurants in town and that it's very casual and near the beach is a bonus for us! The staff is always friendly, including everyone in the kitchen - which is open, so you can see that everything is kept clean and tidy. Simple menu. We usually get a mix of rolls, tuna takaki (do yourself a favour and try this here!!) and hot kitchen items. They make their all their soup stock, gyoza and teriyaki sauce in-house. My husband doesn't usually like squid and LOVES the squid karaage at Mizu. We were blown away when we tried the pork katsu donburi bowl last visit. They also have a small selection of Japanese candies, sodas and Pocky at the till. When my coworkers make work trips to Kelowna from Vancouver, I always recommend Mizu and they have never been disappointed. read more

I don't need to be Japanese to know that good sashimi should be FRESH and lest I forget BONELESS. I nearly choked on a fairly long bone. I can't say that I've ever been so disappointed, shocked, and mortified by a "specialized" restaurant that can't even get their specialty right. I won't even bother ranting about the sushi. Go to Momo's up the street instead, they'll get it right at least. read more

Always one of my stops when I go back to Kelowna, I was a regular when I lived here, I have been coming here for 9 years, the tempura is always the best and the bento boxes are great deals. They recently renovated which was long overdue and the service is as friendly as ever. I recommend the fried squid (calamari) appetizer and the bento boxes for sure. I found their food to be fresh and extremely delicious. I ordered their salmon teriyaki bento and I had no complaints. The portion was a good size and I was full after eating it. Some things I noticed that Kelowna sushi places don't include when ordering bentos is miso soup which is extra. The restaurant is small and the kitchen is visible to the guests. It's very interesting to the chefs making the meals. Overall I would definitely visit this place again. read more

If there was a no star option I would choose it. Tempura uncooked, battery and floppy. Beef terriyaki dish terrible. Beef was deli meat, as in sandwich lunch meat, veggies that came in same container as beef terriyaki dish had ranch dressing put on them. Totally gross. Will never return. Mizu is amazing!!! I have gone here to eat so many times and the food is consistently great and always super quick and affordable. My favorite rolls have to be: deep fried spicy tuna, spicy salmon and negitoro. The gyoza are also so amazing. Besides the food the staff is by far the best part of this little gem, they are all very friendly, attentive and professional. I will never go anywhere else in kelowna!!! Mizu is a MUST! read more

Okay I guess you get what you pay for, but I would gladly spend a couple of dollars more to get a Bento box lunch with sunomono salad instead of some lettuce. And there was no miso, no fruit, questionable teriyaki and the strangest udon noodles ever. After reading the reviews it was a real letdown. read more

I guess being from Vancouver I am a bit biased on sushi. Didn't get to try the sashimi so can't say how good it is but at $4.50 for 4 pieces I'm guessing it is farmed. The prices here are definitely reasonable but I guess you get what you pay for. The chef was not of Asian decent so I know it's probably not the most authentic. My spicy tuna roll was loose, barely had any fish and had a lot of mayo. The bento box I got was just meh. The salad dressing tastes like french dressing and the teriyaki sauce on my chicken was overflowing and sickeningly sweet. It said on the menu it comes with california roll but they only give you 2 small pieces. The tempura was good though and they had pocky in the store. Overall it doesn't warrant a return visit. read more

Love the simplicity of the it all. Place to grab great food (you can tell the fish hasn't been sitting around for days with the customer turnover they have) at a reasonable price, and in an unpretensious setting. Staff are super friendly, and i always get a kick out of Ken, the only caucasian sushi chef i've ever seen. If your out for a simple, and enjoyable place to eat, this is it. If I could give a half star that is what I would do. We came in for an early dinner and wish we hadn't. The greeting was more like 'you are inconveniencing us by eating in' there appeared to be at least 7 people moving about yet one barely made it to and from our table during our entire dining disaster. Tempura was beyond greasy and the prawns were similar to a cocktail shrimp deep fried. The tempura dipping sauce wasn't ready for our order and arrived at least 10mins later, we pealed the batter off and ate the vegetables. Sushi was rubbery and dry, miso soup mediocre at best. Teriyaki beef was loaded with fatty beef over saturated in sauce. When over half the meal was left on the table you think they would ask was everything okay? The best part of this experience was seeing the restaurant in the rear view mirror. 5yrs ago this was a great place...definitely lost their quality and service along the way! read more
