Amazing, quick service & assessment! Yesterday, I drove fast into a puddle on the freeway that I didnt expect was on a ramp due to the heavy rain. The impact of the water flipped part of the guard backwards causing me to drag a piece of my car all the way back home. I decided to call MJ automotive as soon as they opened to inquire if they could help. I spoke to them about the situation and they said to come down to assess if they can fix it. As soon as I pulled into the driveway, one of the mechanics came over to check the car. After they loaded the car up, he showed me where the damage was and also that a guard was completely missing (not sure when that even happened but completely separate from yesterday's event). So blessed it was such a quick and easy fix! They had to replace 4 bolts that went missing and inverted the piece that was dragging. Good thing it didnt need a full replacement because it wasn't necessary. I inquired about the big guard , whether it was necessary to replace as well & they said it was a piece that would just continue to get damaged and waste of money again if I did. & with that I appreciate their sincere honesty in their work. Brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Service: 5/5 stars - The gentlemen were very responsive over the phone and told me the cost would be $45 for oil change and $20 for tire rotation on my 2014 Subaru Impreza. The mechanic John worked on my car and was honest to tell me that my tires didn't need rotating because the tread was equally worn out and saved me $20. They also refilled my engine coolant with no charge. Glad I came here for $65 instead of paying at least $110 at the subaru dealership Cleanliness: 4/5 stars - The gentlemen working there both were not wearing masks while working outside the vehicle and driving the car into the garage. Also, while I was sitting and waiting for my car I saw and heard a rat crawling through some of the car parts on the side of their location. It was pretty gross. Since there's no option for 4.5 stars, I'm rating this a 4/5 stars. Hopefully they can up their game on the cleanliness aspect. Sergio and his son are the best! They've helped me a couple times now and have been very clear and friendly about what's going on and what they're doing with my rusty old Subaru. I was even turned away from another mechanic for an unsolvable steering fluid leak that Sergio was able to find an affordable alternate solution for, and it has held up well for months. I was offered coffee a couple of times as I waited for a wheel bearing replacement another time and generally felt noticed and attended to. I have been referred to this autoshop from my lawyer due to an accident and let me tell you my car was not in a good shape. It had paint marks and scratches from different accidents all over the car. When i arrived,The owner greeted me very pleasantly. As for my car, He basically changed the bumper with my insurance cost but got rid of the paint marks and got the scratches filed all over my car and repainted even on the areas that wasn't covered by my insurance for $100. They were concerned for the customers because of the heat and offered an air conditioned room which I thoroughly was so thoughtful. They did not have to do that. Great. Went in for an oil change. Full synthetic 5,000 miles, for an old VW was $70. I thought it'd be cheaper but that's about what jiffy lube charges just for the oil. It's was quick 15min. I went for a walk to Salvadoren street market and the car was ready by the time I got back. I felt bad that I didn't have cash for a tip but the mechanic was still very helpful and pointed out that I need new tires ASAP. They don't do tires there so he wasn't trying to hustle me at all. Something to note is that it looks like two or three different businesses in the lot but I guess it's the same owner? I went to the place with their name but they told me to go across to another open garage under a different name. It was all good and the owner I spoke to earlier came over to take my payment when it was all done. read more

One of the worst experiences. I took my car for years here and changed my rotors here 10000 miles ago. My brake pads started squeaking last time I came in for oil change and he told me it was fine. I brought it back in for my 5000 mile oil change and he asked me who did this terrible job on the brakes. I said he did and I've brought my car here since I got it. He was shocked and started making excuses saying it was normal wear. Brake rotors don't get destroyed in 10000 miles, it's supposed to last 50000. He couldn't quote me and he said it was too expensive. His laziness and his lack of willingness to take responsibility was appalling. I was too shocked at how easily he started gaslighting me saying it was my fault. I barely drove this car cause of Covid. I wouldn't recommend this place. They over charge and definitely don't do a thorough check which will damage your car later. I only came here to save money but he costed me more. Also he said the brake pads in my front brake isn't even for my car. HES THE ONE WHO PUT IT. I'm going somewhere else. read more

My go-to place to get an oil change. I've been coming here for the past five years because of the quick and friendly service. The owner is super nice and friendly. I have a 2009 Hyundai Elantra, and the oil change costs me $25. Furthermore, he does a general inspection of the car (Is that a given? Not sure honestly) and has directed me to needs I didn't know about (tire rotation, worn out tires, AC filters, etc). I have been fixing my car at first auto center for already 6 years. Joseph is very nice and friendly, and above all, honest. His standard is: it is safe to drive, and it seems quite clear and he doesn't add anything unncessary. As a result, price is very cheap. Once I changed a starter which is very expensive. He asked me if i am a student (at the very beginning, so he could not recognize me). I said yes, and he told me 'oh you might not have enough money...' and he gave a discount. That was so nice of him! One day I went there and said i am gonna get married and he was like 'oh really... well... well...' then he went to his office and brought lots of seasoned seaweed (lol) and said he got them from his relatives and he wanted to share them because he wanted to do something but he only has that at the moment. We've all been there: auto shop says it'll cost you 550 but today, because they like you- 480 for everything! And your mind is convinced 300 if that isn't even necessary... And then they turn the fear factor on you, it will cost you thousands later on etc... Well this place is the answer! Found this place through a friend, and was so glad I did. I had a bearing use issue that other places quoted me 250 for: here, 170. Plus other places told me to change brake pads: I asked him about it, he takes a look, and says that they are fine for at least one more oil change cycle. The guys at First Auto are Master Mechanics that have worked in the automotive industry for decades and know what they are doing. I would highly recommend. Language barrier between us was a little hard to for both of us to understand, but nonetheless they were transparent in what they were repairing every step of the way. They will call and let you know before working on a repair. These are legitimate mechanics and will not upsell or do repairs without informing you first. First to review this place? First for being first! I came here after getting my oil changed at a place a few blocka away and hearing a barrage of suggestions for auto replacements and tune-ups that would've cost me over $1000. SUPER FRIENDLY. I wanted a second opinion and I'd passed by this place a lot, so I went in just to ask questions and they immediately rolled my car on that crank thing and took a look at the brakes and engine and quoted me prices that were much cheaper than I'd gotten earlier. In fact, the guy (Brian, really nice) told me that I didn't have to get everything replaced right away since I don't drive too often. He saved me about $300 on getting my battery and brake pads replaced and rotor resurfaced! The place is owned by Koreans (it is in K-town) and so I guess it was beneficial that I spoke it, but the guys are really friendly and there was many other non-Korean customers. I will be going back here for any auto needs, which hopefully isn't very often...since I know nothing about cars and just pray my car keeps running without any problems :0) read more

Always get a second opinion. I have a Honda HR-V and I recently took my car to the dealership to get an oil change. They told me I needed new front brakes (I did) and new spark plugs (also needed). I was quoted nearly $600 plus for this work. I decided to research a local mom and pops place in my neighborhood just to get a second opinion. I specifically searched for a shop that specializes in Honda. I found First Auto on yelp in my neighborhood search. I came in and immediately was greeted and everyone was very kind. I told them my car issues and that I wanted to know what it would cost. Needless to say they did the work for just under half the price I was quoted and with all original parts no less. They also discovered and showed me that my back struts were leaking and needed to be replaced. Honda didn't catch that!!! I'll be returning for any future work my car may need. I'm not a huge DIY guy so when my car has issues I usually take it into body shop. I just moved to Los Angeles so I popped open Yelp and found First Auto Center. My car had been leaking some fluid days earlier so I wanted to get that checked out. Also, it had been a while since I had changed my oil and gotten my brake pads replaced. I took my car into the shop right when it opened and was greeted by the very warm, Joseph. I told him what was wrong with the car and he got my car in, and started doing his magic to figure out what the issue was. He explained the issue with the leaking (I needed to replace a certain hose) and that I needed to replace the brake pads (or else my rotors would get more damaged). He was really great at letting me know how much certain things would cost and which things I could get away with not replacing immediately. After I paid him, he handed me his business card and told me to call his cell immediately if I had any issues with my car. I'm super grateful for finding this honest and friendly mechanic! read more

This place is everything that other auto mechanic places aren't. HONEST, HONEST, HONEST! I always walk out of this place wondering why my bill is so low. That says it all don't you think? The owner is super honest and he seems to really charge just enough, not too much, not too little. Another thing I appreciate about the owner is that he will say something like, your car's engine needs to be looked at. I think this time it is okay but next time when you come make sure to have it checked. I think it'll run for another few months FYI, is the type of comment he makes. He is just super honest, reliable and friendly. Or, last time he said, your tires need to be replaced soon, give it another 5-6 months and lets relook at it then. This is probably the most affordable, efficient, and professional mechanic in the area. I needed to get my car battery replaced and was able to take it in on the same day WITHOUT an appointment! 2 weeks later I needed an oil change and I was able to get a full synthetic change for $40!!!! That's incredibly affordable. The service is also quick, professional, and thoughtful. Very good auto center. My car had an engine problem (car wouldn't accelerate whenever I presses on brakes), and my biggest fear was that I thought I may have to replace transmission itself. He calmed me down, and did a drive together, and concluded it was just a problem with the throttle. He repaired it within one hour, and even gave me a free oil change because I was overdue.
