I booked a lash lift with MJ. This was probably my fourth or fifth lash lift in general, but first time at this salon. Prior lash lifts I'd had elsewhere haven't had any issues with results. While MJ was very kind and welcoming, the lash lift itself didn't do anything for my flat lashes. I wasn't offered a correction and was told my lashes were too coarse and thick and needed more time to cure. Again this is the first time I've had issues with the lash lift. Dear everyone who has never gotten a lash lift - please go elsewhere! I never write negative reviews unless I truly believe there is a risk a business poses to its patrons. But, after my experience here, I feel obligated warn others. I went into MJ Brow and Skin for my first ever lash lift a few days before my wedding. Huge mistake on my part to do it so close, but that was the only time everything aligned with all the other things I was doing for the wedding. I wish I had looked up the procedure beforehand, but it wasn't on the top of my mind before my wedding. When I arrived for my appointment, I let MJ know this was my first lash lift and all she basically said was "great!" And then motioned for me to lay down on the table. I assumed maybe she would tell me what was normal and what wasn't while in the process of doing my lashes, but she was quiet the entire time. Immediately, I noted how incredibly rough she was with my eyes. I've had LASIK, so I'm more sensitive, but I would have been concerned even if I hadn't. Quickly into her starting, I began to feel burning. I shrugged internally and thought it was normal given she didn't warn me ahead of time that I should tell her if anything burned. After the entire process was complete she allowed me to open my eyes to look at my lashes. Immediately I noticed that the entire world was blurry no matter how much I blinked. I could only see things clearly that were right by my face. Once again, I reasoned that since my eyes had been closed for 45+ minutes, I had just been poked and prodded, and I had foreign chemicals on my eyes this likely was normal and would go away soon. She told me to call if I had any side effects or questions. I thanked her and then began to make my way home. Thank goodness I live close enough to walk, because there would have been no way I could have possibly driven! After no change by the time I got home I looked up (with my phone almost touching my nose because I couldn't see it otherwise) if burning and blurriness were normal symptoms after a lash lift. Turns out, neither are and Dr. Google recommends going to urgent care/the ER if these symptoms last. I decided that I would call MJ just to chat with her since she was a professional and probably would have some advice. She didn't pick up, and so I left a message explaining what was going on and asked her to call me back. After a couple of hours, my symptoms not improving at all, and no word from MJ, I called my sister in law who is a PA. She recommended that I go to the ER when my partner got home with the car and call the lash place again to get the name of the chemicals used in the treatment just in case the ER staff needed it. I called MJ Brow & Skin again, and once again no answer. I left another message asking her to call me back ASAP since I was going to the ER and I needed the name of the chemicals. Now, almost two months later I have still not heard from her! Multiple hours later when my now husband got home, I was in tears. My vision was still blurry, but I didn't want to pay for the ER bill after I had just paid a stupid amount for this woman to burn my eyeballs and then promptly ghost me right before my wedding!! Because my eyes weren't a glaring red and the burning had subsided - they were just dry and blurry - I decided to sleep on it and see if they got better. The next day they seemed to be improving slightly. Over the next couple of weeks they did improve, but my vision has never gotten back to normal. On top of all of this, she also either over-permed one side of my lashes or used an incorrect rod size (see photos). Boy was it hard to put mascara on during my wedding day!!! I also talked with a coworker about my experience and she gasped when she realized she had a really similar experience at the same place. However, MJ actually picked up when she called. Instead of offering advice or a refund, though, MJ blamed my coworker for not telling her that her eyes weren't burning and said it was her fault. Please go elsewhere if you can! read more

I walked out feeling so rejuvenated and fresh from the facial massages and lymph drainage: my face looks bright, glowing, and so healthy compared to when I walked in! My lashes look fantastic - I'm a little sensitive in my eyes, but MJ has always done a great job at delivering a relaxing experience. She really went above and beyond for the services. I'm so happy to have found this great local business. I've been a few times now, MJ is a wonderful esthetician who provides terrific facials, from dermaplaning to an ultimate facial, and uses more European techniques which I love. For a long time I refused to get facials because I would also break out after, not once has that happened with MJ. She really tailors the visit to an ongoing concerns you may have. The prices are very reasonable, and the interior of the business is really spa like, and I always feel relaxed as soon as I enter the business. Parking is available in the parking garage (3 hours free I believe), or on the street out front if you're lucky. read more

I had a facial here. Extractions were very painful and my skin didn't feel very good afterwards. MJ was nice but tried to upsell me on products and services. The biggest issue for me is that she tried to sell me a brand of skincare product called Incellderm. I looked it up later and was very glad I did not purchase it. I've never had either of these services before so I didn't know what to expect, but MJ is an absolutely pro and did amazing work! I have short, straight lashes that don't hold a curl ever, and was a bit skeptical on what the lash lift would do. However, I was blown away when MJ held up the mirror at the end of the service--I could actually see my lashes, curl and all! Worst mistake I've ever made. I got a lash lift and tint from MJ. She's nice and all but she never cleanse my lashes to start with. When my lash didn't lift. She asked if I had any oil on my lashes. It was a waste of my time and money. She used the perm solution that you would use on your hair. I don't know how that would be safe near the eye area. I should have stopped her when my eyes starting burning. Not only did my lash not lift. They were irritated when I got home. I immediately flushed my eyes out and I think she got the perm and dye solution in my right eye. Go at your own risk!!! I usually try not to leave negative reviews but this is probably one of the worst eyelash lift I've gotten. I could careless if my lashes didn't lift. But my eyes are so irritated. Feels like I got something in my eyeballs. I hope I don't get pink eye or infection. read more

MJ did a fabulous job on micro blading and shading my brows! I had lost most of my brows due to hypo thyroid disease and aging but the results made me feel young again! The salon is beautiful and clean and MJ very talented and kind. It is painful but just for like 5 minutes and it's ok if you swear and she has stress balls you can squeeze. I went to MJ for my first microblading experience today! I told her I was excited and nervous about it. MJ listened to my concerns and made sure I was pleased with the outline. She gave me two options to decide on when I wasn't sure if I liked the first outline. I also told her I didn't want my brows to look dark so she went less dense with the strokes. Overall, she was very considerate and patient with me! She even used a ruler to show me how she measures symmetry on each brow. At the end, the entire microblading experience wasn't as painful as I thought. Maybe 1-2/10 with 10 being most painful. Ultimately, though, what really mattered was the final look of my eyebrows and MJ gave me the natural look and curve that I wanted! She listened and she delivered! I can't to wait to see how it looks in a couple weeks and after the touch up session. read more

I NEVER ever write reviews but I had to with this place, I went in for an eyebrow wax today with the owner, fyi I like to keep my natural shape and only get touch ups for the small hairs that's hard to remove. Not only is my eyebrow HALF the size of a ball point pen the middle of my eyebrow is OVERLY PLUCKED and tweezed. It's so ugly I am literally writing this review CRYING, I had to come straight home because it was so ugly. I have never had my eyebrows so much overly plucked. If you value your eyebrows and any place visible DO NOT come here for waxing. I literally had to cancel my plans this entire week because I do know how to fix them.
