Zero stars. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had at a nail salon. The lady who did my dip manicure was so rough that she started to make me bleed. On top of that, she was going to send me out of the salon with nail polish all over my skin on my fingers. Please see the pictures attached. And when I tried to bring it to her attention, she didn't even apologize and it was as if I was bothering her to fix her mistake and told me that it should go away after I wash my hands... it didn't, so I grabbed the acetone and cleaned it off myself. The most unprofessional nail tech I've ever experienced. On top of that, I went to pay, they gave me a different price than what I was quoted on the phone. I went in for a pedicure and noticed my heels were looking just as dry and cracked with dead skin during the treatment. I asked the worker to please use the shaver to shave off some dead skin, but they refused because they said that removing the dead skin with shaver creates more dead skin later on. Even going to say that they, themselves, don't use the shaver for their own feet for that reason. I just let it go and left after the treatment having paid over $50. These pictures of my heels were literally taken right after the pedicure. Never have I had a pedicure and my heels looked the same after. Being unsatisfied, I texted pictures and went back to the salon to get my heels looking smooth. The lady told me that they didn't use the shaver because it's more expensive $5 more, which was not the case ever before when I had frequented this salon before. Also, it was not the case for me because the worker had just refused to do it for me during first treatment, instead of letting me know it would be "$5 more expensive" for shaving off dead skin. I thought it was pretty ridiculous that they would try to make a lame excuse for my feet looking like that after an expensive pedicure, instead of just apologizing and fixing the job. Also, I wouldn't be leaving this review if they just apologized and fixed it for me. However, over two times they mentioned many excuses as to why the shaver wasn't used and why it was so dry. I won't be going back. It was a waste of my time making two trips out for a pedicure that just should have been done right from the beginning. It was much better under old ownership. Don't waste your time here! P.S: I noticed it is also dirty and others shaved nail or foot powder is everywhere on the massage chair arm stands and table stand. I don't believe they wipe down or clean it after use. I had to use tissues and water to wipe mine down when I sat down. Do not go here. There are other salons that are cleaner and know what they are doing. On another note, owner was also involving the customer next to me into our conversation when I went back, telling her, "Oh, see it's winter so it's dry and you need to vaseline your feet at night." In re-reading my former reviews, I realized I had talked more about prices and left out a lot of other information that needed to be addressed. First, this is a family with friends operation. It is owned by Kim and Tony and their daughter Tina, who often comes in to help on the weekends. Everyone working here works really hard. I have been to this salon hundreds of times and I can verify that all Urban Nails employees are genuinely focused on pleasing customers, providing the state of the art of nail services and keeping everyone safe. During the pandemic, they took the time to remodel and add EVERY possible COVID-related upgrade. The salon was transformed from local nail shop to very upscale nail salon with spa services. They changed out almost everything...from the new chairs, chandeliers- even installing lucite barriers between technician and customer and between customers. Despite their $10-20k in upgrades, Urban Nails kept their prices the same. There is no shortage of nail salons within five miles of our house in Kirkland. Still, my mom and I and all of my mom's friends who work at Evergreen Hospital choose Urban Nails over the salons a couple hundred feet away. Their nails skills are flawless and they can do anything you can dream up. Tony and Kim +employees all have incredible skill and experience doing all kinds of nails. Still, the best thing about this salon is the people who own it and work here. Everyone at Urban Nails are real and try really hard to please their customers. After coming here with my mom and friends for so long, Luann, Kim, Tony, and Tina etc. feel more like family than anything else. read more

Moved to the area, and started the dreadful "looking for a new nail salon." Has an appointment today, went in, asked if I had one, stated yes, seemed like they didn't believe me but that's ok, being right at opening isn't a huge deal, ppl are tired. I've never been to a nail salon that takes over an hour for basic short nails. Then at the end, I notice a huge bubble and the solution was to first tell me, it was dirt under my cuticle, then when I stated there's no dirt there, it's a bubble, they looked again and then buffed it down so now there's uneven nail polish that you can clearly see. Don't get me wrong the staff nice!!! Good experience. I made an appointment for a fill plus got a nail added since one had fallen off a day prior. The nail that was repaired was very thick and round compared to the other nails I had gotten done elsewhere (central wash.) and little attention to details were made. My nails were barely filed around the side to ensure straight ends and so I had to fix it with my own file at home. What I thought was a simple request was pretty hard because they wanted to give me French tip straight across my nail with no curve they had to restart a few times. All I wanted was a red sparkly French tip which I showed them an inspo pic as well as I had white French tips before the fill so I just wanted the same thing I had but a different color. More than two people had worked on my nails so immediately a red flag for personal preferences. Overall the shop is busy looking inside, they have many different services being provided such as people getting their hair cuts which was very different. I was kind of sad that I paid $70 for a fill and simple nail "design" it's kind of an outrageous price but I will maybe just go back to doing my own nails again (self taught). The smell of the cuticle oil that used on me at the end seems to still linger a day later after washing hands a lot of times. read more

Came here a few months ago. They weren't doing any walk ins so I scheduled an appointment instead for later the same day. When I arrive for my appointment, I had to wait about five to ten minutes for the tech to become available. My technician did not really acknowledge me and was rough during my appointment. Staff here is absolutely lovely and does a great job. My bridesmaids, mom and I had an appointment here to get our nails done before my wedding, and it couldn't have gone smoother. They had all our chairs ready for us when we got there, treated us all really well and even were kind enough to take a group photo. The outside doesn't look like much, don't let that fool you. I had a great time at this salon. It was my first time visiting and I came in for a signature pedicure after making the appointment online the night before. Scheduling was super easy, a simple request online and then confirmed via text a few hours later. For a Sunday morning, the salon was quickly busy but I never felt rushed. There were plenty of brands/styles of nail polish to choose from and I was so happy with my pedicure. The signature pedicure was $30 and included a cuticle trim, callus removal, scrub, oil massage with hot stones (my first time trying this and it was awesome!), paraffin wax, and hot towels finished off with polish. I had a great nail tech, good conversation with the regulars in the salon, and a very relaxing time at Urban 1 Nails. This will be my go-to nail salon in the future! read more

I went in during the day for a pedi and it was super quiet. The place looks pretty clean, and the leg and foot massages were great! It was super relaxing and even though I knew to expect that from other Yelpers here, it was still welcome and appreciated! The lady who did my pedicure wasn't overly chatty but she was super sweet. She made sure I was comfortable with the water temperature and also made sure the massage wasn't too hard. I had to get my nails trimmed and my pedicurist did a good job with pushing the cuticles back and taking care of the skin around the nails. I am taking a star off here though, because I had a huge hangnail on one toe and as she was trimming she clipped it and looked me straight in the eye as she put it on my foot to show me! Gross. Then it stayed there while she worked on my other foot... Getting the nails painted done was quick but didn't feel like it was a rush job. I felt it was pretty thorough. She then helped me back Ito my flip flops and I was on my way! For $23 it was totally worth the experience! Update: my little toe got smudged already :( read more

Last weekend I treated myself to a much needed pedicure at Urban 1 nails in Kirkland. I had never been in before, but decided to give it a try based off the several positive reviews. I didn't make an appointment in advance, I just walked right in and they were able to get me started right away. They not only lived up to the hype, but exceeded my expectations. The nail salon was very clean, recently updated, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming to me. They had a wide variety of colors to choose from and they were all displayed in a very pretty and organized way. There was music playing but it wasn't super loud in the background, and the atmosphere was overall very calming and peaceful. The massage chairs were super comfortable, so comfortable in fact I found myself dozing off a couple times haha. The pedicure itself was a great experience, I chose the deluxe pedicure option, and I believe it was around $42 before tip. She took her time massaging my legs and feet and she really paid close attention when painting my toes. I left feeling happy and well taken care of and I will definitely be back again :) read more

I went into to Urban 1 nails for the first time and I'm more than happy with the results. Everyone is super nice and I had a great experience there. Loan did my nails and she's amazing! She took her time with shaping my nails which I really appreciate because in the past I've had nails that were uneven and chunky but these are beautiful. I got a set of acrylics with gel and she hand painted everything. I went in and showed a picture of the nail design I wanted and what changes I had and my nails came out exactly how I want them. I loved getting my nails done by her, I will definitely be going back again. She is so sweet and is great at doing nails, I had a lovely time. ** short review: cheap dirty salon trying to not be cheap. But they're cheap. And the owner sucks. Gone here over a dozen times over the years. Doesn't respect customers if they have issues. Great staff, but communication needs a boat load of work. Go here for cheap, but beware you'll get a cheap service. ** So I've been going to this hole in the wall nail salon for years (despite how dirty it is). After Amy's nail salon started treating their customers with less attention and raised their prices I switched to urban, because they had better prices and seemed to be catering to my picky needs. I'm VERY picky when it comes to my nails. I fully understand this. But I always compensate for a job well done. I always say please and thank you and I may have high demand and nit picky actions, but I always am polite about it and I'm always paying for it. The last three times I've gone into Urban, the owner has been the focal point to my issues with that salon. That and miscommunication. They don't speak the greatest English; I'm always empathetic towards that fact and try my best to work with them. However, today was the final straw and I am completely fed up with her treating me like I'm a problem. They know I'm picky. I even told them I'm VERY PICKY. But she charged be $33 for a basic acrylic when it's $25 for a basic full set with regular nail polish. They never told me it would (now) cost more for long nails... Which defeats the purpose of a full set of fake nails, because the entire point is to make your nails longer. And the acrylics didn't even turn out very long. Let alone she argued with me about something completely stupid. She blamed me for taking over 2 hours in her salon like that was an issue then said I keep complaining about my nails. This was completely untrue as all I wanted was my nails painted to the nail bed, my nails to be shaped almond, my cuticles cut, and the dirt cleaned out from under my nails. The nail tech didn't understand all of this. So I was really understanding and just decided I would do it on my own when I got home. When I asked The nail tech to paint my nails to the cuticle she rushed me to the dryer counter and then got the owner. (I also didn't like the color, which I was fine with tipping extra to change it to something less flashy but all of a sudden that cost extra when before they never charged extra for that.) The owner painted my nails and while she painted them she proceeded to Scold me. "Everything she does she tries to please you, but nothing she does seems to be right. We can never please you; you take too long. I know because I counted the time." So I stood up for myself and I basically told her that if she's going to treat me like this I can take my business elsewhere, because I'm paying for this time and I'm paying a lot of money to have my nails look nice. I have my own business; I deal with customers all the time and I never argue with them like this even if they're wrong. I go out of my way to please them, because I know that their reviews and their potential returning business is more valuable to me in the long run than the time it takes to please them. Spending 2.5 hours in a nail salon for a full set and a pedicure isn't obscene. 45 minutes for the pedi and a little over an hour and a half on a full set isn't crazy. The nail tech did a great job on my nails, but she failed to communicate properly with me, especially when she was rushing me to dry my nails. If I'm spending about $80 every two weeks to have beautiful nails I don't think I'm asking for much here. So I won't be going back and none of my friends who I've sent there will be either. You NEVER ARGUE with a customer and you NEVER up your prices just because you took more time to do a basic full set. That's something I pay for in the tip which unfortunately I couldn't tip them as well because she raised the prices just for me. She's got some decent workers there, like her brother and husband and the Sunday crew. Loved chatting with Kevin, But they need to COMMUNICATE and learn to understand their customers. As for the owner, she needs to unlodge that stick from her a**. She could also use a customer service course. Not to mention learn to clean her salon properly (like learn to dust lady, it's not that hard) and look into redesigning the interior of the shop to not look like a cheaply renovated children's bedroom. read more

It's been awhile since I gave a nail salon a five star but I definitely think it's warranted. :) It was my first time coming here. Made reservations 2 hours before coming and they saw us right away. The place closes at 7 pm and we got there a little before 6:30. My manicure and pedicure were not rushed at all. They took their time to massage and put wax and then massage some more. It was very very relaxing. I think his name was Tony. Anyways he was amazing! I felt very very pampered and spoiled. I also wanted to get half moon for my nails and Kim has is actually not familiar with it. Showed her pictures and wow, she did really well especially since it was her first time doing it! I'll attach the pictures. She, like tony did not rush either. She made sure it was even and exactly what I wanted. The place looks very clean, 5 spa pedicure chairs, and other things they do there. Today was the first time I came in along with my sister and boyfriend. All three of us were getting pedicures, my sister a manicure and I was getting a full set. My boyfriend and sister were sent over immediately to get there pedicures. I was seated to wait for Kim to start my set. Kim is amazing. The only thing I would say was she's so good she has so many clients. I didn't have an appointment and my session was interrupted twice. What should have been a one hour visit tops turned into two. Thank God we have no where to be. I would highly recommend making an appointment with Kim. I don't think my nails have ever looked better but the waiting wasn't fun. Lee did my pedicure and was fantastic! Very personable. A little hard to understand her but I enjoyed her bubbly personality. Kimi did my sisters and also did a fantastic job! Very professional. Happy to have had a great experience. Originally came in for Kim based off majority or reviews I read. She was busy today so Brian was offered as a manicurist to do my full set. I'm happy he was there to do my nails. I'm thrilled with the job he did. He wasn't in a rush. Very detailed & meticulous. This was comforting. I arrived at 11:00a and was dry and out the door by 12:40p Overall good experience 10.21.15 Nail from previous full set (Monday) broke same night (they are pretty long) anywho I called for Tuesday Brian wasn't in on Tuesday so I waited for Wednesday. He is flawless in his work, very detailed & you can tell it's a art form as he works. Finished product is a flawless, classic set of nails. He fixed the broken nail & reinforced the others by making them thicker for me & repaint them. UPDATE 11.30.15 Had to knock down a star because of the simple fact they are not open as advertised. It's inconvenient & rude not to post otherwise. This was my first stop for the day amongst the many other things I have to do & it's a bummer to drive here & realize I'm not mistaken about the business hours, but rather They JUST aren't here. Not even just one person, literally closed. Makes it especially frustrating during holiday times when everyone is busy & trying to fit in the little things. I will come back because when they are open they do an excellent job. ( semi - happy) because as I write this review .... Someone shows up ! Did a wonderful job with my nails. I got the spa manicure pedicure which cost $42. For $10 more you can get your manicure to be shellac. The pedicure was wonderful. My pedicurist did a great job cleaning my cuticles, scrubbing my feet, and massaging my feet and legs. Was definitely more than I had expected. The used a pretty nice lotion to soften my legs. My shellac manicure was nice too. The lady took her time to make sure my nails were shaped and cleaned. Had a nice mini massage session as well. Shellac is $30 which a little bit pricier then what I am use to paying. I would definitely come back. Lee and Tina were the two ladies that helped me. The salon is more like a hole in the wall. I started not getting shellac from them because I think their base coat is not great and shellac doesn't last so why pay the extra money? Over this place. It's okay though and staff is pretty nice. They got me in same day and let me bring in my one yr old girl, when she started getting bored they volunteered to keep her occupied and walk her!! NiNi did my full set. I think because of how the tips were glued on after she was done, I noticed that the nails seemed to be like lifted to up like they were off of my nail beds. I have been looking for a new nail place since I moved to Kirkland. It was $17 to get a fill and well worth the money. The woman I had was very nice and wanted me to relax and enjoy. My fill was very well done and she made sure to clean up any nail polish on the edge of my nail. My only complaint is that they don't seem to go all the way to the cuticle but other than that the nail looks great. The place was very clean and if I had more time I would love to try out their pedicure options because they have multiple types for different type of feet. As well as pedicures.
