I have a ton of thick hair that can be insane. A lot of people never knew how to cut it correctly, and majority of my hair cuts ended in tears... Until, I met Carol. She started cutting my hair in 2003 and I never let another person touch it. She really takes her time and will not give you a cut that looks bad on you. I trust her with my hair explicitly. And, I cannot stress how anal I am about who I let touch my hair. But, with Carol I can just go and give her a really vague idea about what I think, and I let her take it from there. I've never been less than ecstatic about every haircut she's ever given me. Even when I moved to Tallahassee to go to FSU, I came back for Carol's haircuts. Recently, I relocated to Chicago and realized it would no longer be practical to travel to Jax for my haircuts. Recently, I was interested in trying someplace new and spent the last few weeks looking around. I decided on Razors Edge Barber shop. I think I made the best decision for my self. On the exterior, the store front is quaint and simple. Walking through the door is another matter entirely. Rustic, urban, and a classic gritty masculinity with a sense of swagger. So I meet Frank, and immediately I think this guy is unique. I tell him my usual haircut style and what I'm looking for. Not only does he give me his professional opinion but he suggests a style and cut more trending and appealing. And i might say folks, he did not disappoint. I'm nearing 40 and no longer want to have the militant cuts I've had for the last 22 years. I wanted a change to be more distinguished with a touch of "swagger". By the end, my oddly shaped head with a crazy cowlick, was hard-parted and nicely shaped with an even fade of bald to one guard. Even on my first visit, I have been pleased and looking forward to what happens next time. So much so, that I might not wait for a whole month. Thank you Frank! At my last visit, when I finally wanted it back to the way it was, in order to get her to do it I had to stress how much I didn't like the new style and wanted the old style back. My highlights and trim usually took 1.5-2 hrs and I always left a tip. My final visit for the cut/style I wanted back and highlights only took 40 minutes. At payment time, I was charged usual price plus my usual tip was added automatically without asking me. The appointment length was so short; maybe she knew I wouldn't be back so it didn't matter what I was charged. I just thought I should share my experience.
