A men's haircut is a lot like the cover of a book. You don't like to judge the cover without knowing what's inside, but often enough, we all do it. I typically get a haircut once a month, and I'm willing to spend up to $40 to get it done. It's what I can afford on my budget. Recently, I was interested in trying someplace new and spent the last few weeks looking around. I decided on Razors Edge Barber shop. I think I made the best decision for my self. On the exterior, the store front is quaint and simple. Walking through the door is another matter entirely. Rustic, urban, and a classic gritty masculinity with a sense of swagger. So I meet Frank, and immediately I think this guy is unique. I tell him my usual haircut style and what I'm looking for. Not only does he give me his professional opinion but he suggests a style and cut more trending and appealing. And i might say folks, he did not disappoint. I'm nearing 40 and no longer want to have the militant cuts I've had for the last 22 years. I wanted a change to be more distinguished with a touch of "swagger". By the end, my oddly shaped head with a crazy cowlick, was hard-parted and nicely shaped with an even fade of bald to one guard. Even on my first visit, I have been pleased and looking forward to what happens next time. So much so, that I might not wait for a whole month. Thank you Frank! Don't even waste your time their customer service is horrible and the barbers are rude. I tried to walk in on wednesday and the doors were locked and nobody was in there. I called and was told that there should be someone in there and that they were open and that someone was being sent to the barbershop. I go back 30 minutes later there's still nobody there. I call the next day and schedule a appointment for 1 just for the barber to text me at 12:45 that he's still in school and to come at 1:45. I call at 1:40 and ask if he's at the shop yet and he tells me he didn't know I still wanted the cut since I didn't text him back then says "come after my 2:00 appointment, never mind ill cut you another time" then hangs up on me read more

Really liked the service. I had my cut with frank. It was walk-in and I barely had to wait anything so that's good. Great haircut. Everything I wanted: basic cut on the edges and back and then a shape up on the beard and eyebrows. Only reason it's not a 5 star is because he messed up my eyebrows pretty bad lol but he's still a great guy and knows what he's doing. My husband has been following Frank around for over a decade. After living out of state for 3 years we were back in town for a visit. We tracked Frank down across town to his awesome new shop on King street. Hubby says that he's never had a barber as consistently "on point" as Frank. I see him as an old school barber who knows what he's doing in a new school shop that's in an up and coming area of town. On this visit, Frank hooked up a sharp cut and gave my husband a shave and beard trim.....I can see why he's been so loyal to him all these years! Totally worth the trip across town! Just moved to the area and I was looking for a new barbershop to frequent since making the drive out to Orange Park if I don't need to makes no sense. Plus my friend and housemate Recommended this place and looking over the reviews and photos, I felt it was worth a shot. I mean it's hair....it grows back (hopefully)! Ernest greeted me right away when I walk in the door and offered me a seat. There were only 2 guys working and a few guys came in during my haircut, but I never felt rushed whole time. By the time he finished the job with a hot towel, I was determined to make this my new barbershop and Ernest my new barber. My barber was Steven and he was friendly, courteous, and knows how to do a killer haircut. They offer straight razor shaves with a hot towel, the whole thing. Very much a classic barber shop that I know tons of men are looking for nowadays. My ONLY complaint, and the reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is because the music playing in there was horrible. Like everybody else, I had a great experience with Frank at Razor's Edge. I stopped in today to see if Frank could save a bad haircut - I used to live at the beaches and had always gotten good haircuts there, but while in Orlando I made the mistake of going to Hair Cuttery and getting it completely butchered. Bad enough that I considered just buzzing it, but buzzing really isn't my style. Anyway, since moving to Riverside I had basically sat around and counted the days till my hair was long enough on top to do some sort of fade/undercut (I'm bad with actual haircut names). This weekend I finally decided it was long enough, so I made an appointment online (very handy) and popped in this morning. Zero waiting - Frank started promptly and within 15-20 minutes I had one of the best haircuts I've ever had. He was a really nice guy that was exceptional at figuring out exactly what I wanted from my own poor, vague description (like I said, just not very good at describing what I like in a haircut). The haircut finished off with a hot towel and as if it couldn't get any better, it was only $15. The exact same amount I paid to get my hair destroyed at Hair Cuttery. Even though $30 a month is a lot to spend on haircuts, I'm considering going biweekly instead of monthly because I could really get used to having a cut this fresh all the time. And there are plenty of places around Jacksonville where a single men's haircut can run you $30 without the friendly service of Frank. I'm in town on a bike trip and had called up the guys at Zen Cog (great bicycle) shop asking where I could get a good haircut, without hesitation they told me Razor's Edge and recommended Frank. Made my appointment quite easily over the phone and have to say the experience was top 1 or 2 in my life for barbering. Haircut was excellent but the old fashioned straight shave complete with hot & cold towels really set it apart. As someone who uses a straight razor on myself to shave there are very Few people I would trust to do it for me, Frank being one. I've never felt more inclined to write a bad review. As a matter of fact... this would be my first. I'm sorry but this was a terrible experience. I go in for a shave and a cut. I should've specified a "haircut" and not cut my face. This was my first time experiencing a "professional" wet shave and it will be my last. I came out with SEVERAL cuts on my face and under my chin. Also there were spots that were missed completely. The haircut was ok... but I was really hoping for a noticeable fade. It was just ok. I'm very disappointed. I feel terrible about leaving a bad review, but I want you to know how dissatisfied I am and to warn everyone else about my barber. I'm sure the owner is going to want to know who the barber is. Unfortunately I didn't get his name. Only that he is slightly new and he came here from Alaska. To the barber: Sorry man. New to the area and needed a haircut before I went to work. I was surprised by the old school feel and great service for an awesome price. Left there knowing for sure that I'll be a regular. If you want a quality cut in a great place for a good price set up an appointment. UPDATE Got up on a Saturday and arrived at the shop at 9:00 am, as their sign and website said they would be open. They weren't there so I took off for a half hour and when I arrived back at the shop 30 minutes later there was still no one there. There was also a car waiting outside next to me. We both left. I came back later and after waiting 45 minutes I got my cut. At the end of the cut the barber informed me that the price for a fade went up to $20. Small joint, had three barbers. The wait was a little long, no one recognized you when you arrived. The barber I had failed to realize that customer comfort is a thing.
