This place was great !! We had tried going to opium but it was so dead so we left and came here. We waited almost an hour in line to get in, I think we started waiting in line at 11pm or 11:30, we got in around 12:30/1. You can dress however you want ! The cover fee was $10 on a Saturday night. There's lots of steps / stairs so not the best place to wear heels. There are a few different areas which play music which I found so fun. One room was playing house / techno, a room downstairs which was in wire cage kind of like a fight club themed, was playing hip hop. I didn't explore too much because my feet hurt but this place was super fun and I'd definitely go again. read more

This Halloween weekend was NUTS! I was so happy to see a woman security guard! I don't know her name but she is light complexion with green eyes and I felt more safe with her presence. I've been coming to MJQ for a while now, and one thing I always appreciate is the presence of the light-skinned female security guard at the entrance. Her job is not easy--I've personally witnessed how some women give her a hard time just because they don't want their bags checked or don't want to be patted down. But she handles it with such professionalism and calm. Honestly, I'm glad MJQ has a female security guard, especially one who clearly cares about the safety and experience of women at the club. She always keeps an eye out, steps in when guys get a little too creepy, and makes sure the women feel safe and looked after. It makes a huge difference and is one of the reasons I keep coming back. The club itself was great -- good music, great energy -- and overall it would have been an easy 5 out of 5. But the experience with the older light-skinned female security guard at the door on April 26, 2025, completely ruined the entry experience. She was extremely rude and hostile for no reason. While I was standing in line, she told me not to look at my own sister, which made absolutely no sense. She then complained about my sister's bag, saying it was "too big" and "took too long" to search -- even though it was literally a small clutch, not even a large purse. She made unnecessary, aggressive comments and clearly took her frustrations out on us. To make it worse, my sister was visiting from out of state, and this was one of the places she was excited to experience while here. Instead, she was met with hostility at the door, which left a bad first impression. As we entered the club and went downstairs near the coat check and ticket counter, we spoke with a kind male security guard about what happened. He told us this actually happens often and encouraged us to find upper management to file a complaint -- meaning this is clearly a known problem that still hasn't been dealt with. Someone carrying that much aggression, should not be working the front entrance where guests are forming their first impression of the night. I will be proceeding with a formal complaint. A great night should never start with unnecessary negativity like that. Management needs to take action immediately before this continues to drive away good guests. read more

E X P E R I E N C E We went as a duo, two girls, on a Wed night. We stopped by Bookhaven for a bite to eat and chat , before we came here to blast our ears out and get some dance on. The entire place looks janky and run down. The entrance just had a few big guys checking ID's. No cover charges for anyone when we went. They did check my friends bag briefly. To enter, we walked down a tunnel. Super dark. A bit creepy but at the end you can clearly see light. M U S I C At a club like this where Im not looking/paying for an upscale experience-purely looking for a dance club, I expect there to always be bomb a-- music, especially given the crowds vibe. I'm knocking down a star bc of the music. Definitely personal preference but i didn't like that the music would switch styles every song. So one would be hip hop then the next is rock then the next is some classic song that everyone can sing to then the next is disco. It was very confusing for me lool i like to move from genre to genre over a period of time, not after every song. I do want to note though, that the transitions were seemless. And I was definitely impressed by that. There were a few DJs manning the booth. I'm a huge people watcher so I had so much fun seeing people sing their hearts out or see the pure happiness that oozes out, by their body language. It gave me so much joy. People are here to DANCE! I'm very impressed. There were a few guys that approached us but so long as I didn't make eye contact, most guys kinda just moved away. No one was creepy. People were respectful and just wanted to be friendly. A few people asked me for my number and when I said no or yes, they didn't try to attack me, which i appreciate. I didn't know that there was actually a smaller room in the back (somewhere) that had more hiphop rap 90s!! I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more. A T T I R E I wore shorts, a light cropped long sleeve and runners. You can be as formal or as casual as you like but it seems like most people leaned towards casual. It's a little chilly when you initially walk down the entrance,, but theres no need for a jacket, even in the end of Dec. Trust me. I get cold very easily and i felt hot in the club, even with the fan blowing and good ventilation. TIP: if u get hot in the club, find the spots on the dance floor that has cool air blowing directly on you. It feels soo good. TIP: there's a stage that anyone can go up/come off of at anytime! Show your moves or hype people up! D R I N K S I did not buy anything here but everything seemed to be very reasonably priced. See photos for pricing. S E C U R I T Y People were clearly drunk but no one caused a scene, trying to fight or was vomiting on others. They were just having a great time. I loved that for them. Throughout the night i saw a few big security guys sitting at the couches, along the edge of the dance floor, and watching. I did see them move through the crowd a few times too. I appreciated their vigilance. R E S T R O O M Females had 4 stalls-two on each side- and the middle had two sinks. The floors were not kept but the toilets seemed decent. One of the stalls, the lock was broken. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and would definitely come back. Probably on a different day with music I like or try the smaller room. My favorite bar/club in Atlanta! Always such a good vibe, I love the people that come here and the music is always on point. Everyone is dancing, non-judgemental, and not creepy (which can be present at a lot of ATL clubs)! The bar can look super busy, but the bartenders are really quick. I feel like there are a lot of unique nightlife experiences in Atlanta, and MJQ is one of the top spots. It's currently located on Ponce de Leon across from Ponce City Market, underground. I have been here a handful of times. It is cash only, and the drinks are less than $10 so very reasonably priced. The cover is $10 on Fridays/Saturdays. I have never had to wait in a super long line. I tend to listen to more pop and classic rock songs, so the music genres at MJQ are not really my favorite. However, I do enjoy dancing and despise when people go to clubs to just stand around and talk, or as the girlies say, "take laps". I can definitely get down to the beat here! They have 3 rooms so if you don't like one you can move around. There's also seating in all the rooms if you really don't want to dance. Finally, they have a photo booth by the door that costs NOTHING and leaves you with a memory. I think the background on the photos is themed to whichever DJs are performing that night. read more

Wow oh wow, I think I might have found one of the best clubs in the country. MJQ Concourse is an unassuming spot, but once you get patted down and enter free on Wednesday, for $5 Thursday, or for $10 Friday and Saturday ($5 online), you'll literally go underground and find yourself in a sprawling space. On the left, there's a ring light and green shrubbery for the gram pics, a horseshoe-shaped bar, and a great dance floor. There's spots to rest up at top and sit down if you need a quick break, also lots of air conditioning because it gets HOT down there. On the right, another dance floor and bar, as well as chairs though no air conditioning there. On the night I went they had disco and it was such a blast, danced the night away. I'll be honest, I'm always afraid of going to places like this as someone with a visual impairment, but I had no problems whatsoever and everyone was very friendly and laid back, just there to have a good time. I met some incredible people and all the music was just as diverse as the crowd there. I've paid way more for way less. If you're looking for somewhere to go tonight in Atlanta, this is the move. Then when you go in the security guard harassed you and pushed me multiple times and even on their second time pushing me caused me to twist my ankle and had to leave early because I couldn't walk without my friends supporting me to walk after security pushed me into a wall. read more

I'll start off by saying that I'm not a dance club type of person, but I have been to a few with friends for various celebrations and evenings out. This is the first one I've been to in Atlanta. This casual, no-frills 21+ dance club with minimal decor, amenities, and an unassuming entrance reminded me of places I frequented during the first month of my freshman year in college (ten years ago). *Smoking is allowed inside* They open at 11pm, are *cash only* and do charge a cover. Find street parking for free, pay a few and park in the lot across the street, or try your luck in the lot of the plaza behind the club. Once you get through the entrance, you walk down a walkway into the basement. The bar is in the middle, the stage is at the end, and there are a few tables to stand at by the bar and a few with seats towards the stage, on the sides of the club. I was here on a Friday night as part of a birthday celebration and arrived early to grab a table and place to sit and place our things. The club had no problems with us bringing a cake and balloons (didn't call ahead or anything). We also had sparkler candles which didn't pose a problem either (not sure if the sparkler candles were ok or they just didn't see them). An employee just came by our table and told us to clean up before we left. Again, I'm not a dance club person, but people seemed to be having fun. It got more crowded around 1230am. People were dressed in everything from a suit to sneakers. You'll just be in for a shock if you're expecting something nice. But if you just wanted to dance, I suppose it's good enough. Leave your nice clothes/shoes/accessories at home. Seriously. The music was pretty good though. One more thing - no cell service if you have AT&T. Verizon works though! read more

It's hard to find a good hip hop dancing club but if you grow up listening to the music you'll appreciate the vibes given here. Came with a group of 5 at 10 and to our surprise this place was not open yet. There was a strict man sipping coffee in the front seated next to a lady who seemed more hipster than your typical entrance steward. He kept telling us the place wasn't open yet and to stand in line. Anyway 5 minutes later he let us in after a cover of $10 each and a dj was playing electro music which I was concerned about because I am tired of clubs that play this music - I came looking for hip hop! Asked around and a couple of the staff that worked there reassured that there are great djs coming on at 11/12 pm and that the place will fill up (15 mins had gone by and place still looked super empty). They started playing hip hop around 12! The stage was open and a couple of folks who were super into the music jumped up on stage and rallied up the crowd. I appreciated how close the dj booth felt to the sitting booth on the side where we sat. The place is not ventilated enough so if you're dancing it will get swampy. Lastly - cash only for everything. Wish I had time during my visit to check out the live music venue in the back called drunken unicorn. read more

My experience with Devon Henderson at MJQ Concourse was nothing short of frustrating. He came across as someone who talks a big game, making grand claims and promises that he clearly couldn't deliver on. He claimed to be an "investor" for the club we were in, but we quickly realized what that title really meant...Devon Henderson is a scammer. His actions did not match his words, and it quickly became evident that he misrepresented himself. Unfortunately, with us letting down our guard for one night in hopes of having a much needed good time, we became his victims for the night. He wasted our time with unprofessional behavior and empty commitments, leaving us feeling scammed and deceived. If you value your time and integrity, I'd strongly advise against working with or trusting him. This was an unfortunate and avoidable mistake on our part, and I hope others don't fall into the same trap. Devon Henderson has no money in his bank account, so if he claims that he will reimburse you in any way, HE WON'T! Please be safe ya'll and do not get your time wasted by no good bums in downtown Atlanta. They are all demons with lost souls, chasing fame and money that they'll never actually know. Shut up and take my money! I will gladly pay $10.00 to get down on this dance floor. I moved to Atlanta a little less than a year ago from San Francisco. I've grown accustomed to hanging out at casual bars with a dance floor that plays hip hop, r&b. Here in Atlanta, I've had trouble finding places like that. Opera, Compound, Havana Club, etc... those places are fun, but not always. Sometimes, I want to dance to something other than edm and trance. Finding this place was a little confusing. It's right across from Murder Kroger in the back by the small parking lot. Park at designated lots. DON'T PARK AT KROGER'S. They will boot your car. I wasn't sure if I was walking up to the right spot because there's no big sign that says MJQ, but you can tell by the crowd. It almost looks like a shack at the entrance. Plus there's a food cart parked right there. (smart). This is a 21+, cash ONLY joint. They do have ATMS, so if you happen to run out of cash, you're covered. The do allow smoking, which is unfortunate. The drinks are alright, not that strong, but a little better than watered down. It doesn't really get that crowded until midnight. I was there at 11:30, and the dance floor was basically empty. I appreciate how this place actually uses their AC. I was actually really cold before it got crowded. I felt the AC on blast, which is a good thing. So by the end of the night, around 3, it was hot, but not like a sauna. It also helps since they do allow smoking, which I hope they will change. They should ban smoking on the dance floor at least. The music was won me over. Old school hip hop and r&b. Very nostalgic. It's awesome when you hear a song for the first time in yeeeears and everyone is just singing along. The DJ was sick. Mixed the songs very well. The MC was very entertaining as well. Now the crowd is all over the place. Pretty diverse in ethnicity, age and style. There were also a few bboys who laid it down on the floor! Everyone is pretty friendly and just want to have fun, but you do see some people who are a little drunk or maybe just horny and want to get all nasty and grinding up on the dance floor. And no matter where you go, you'll meet the creepy men who are staring at you and trying to make a move on you. I don't hold it against the venue though. I just want to warn you ladies... if you can't handle crowds and guys trying to dance with you, then stay off the floor. There were quite a few guys being a little inappropriate, but just walk away or politely say something to them. Obviously, they should know better, but at the end of the day, they'll do what they want to do. I ended up coming back here on a Wednesday. Ladies free and guys are $5.00. If you are bored on a Wednesday night and want somewhere to go, this is the place. It felt like a normal night out on a weekend. There were so many people and everyone just dancing and having fun. It's also not as crowded on Wednesdays than on the weekends. There's still a really good crowd though. I was mainly hanging out with my group of friends and they were definitely great company. It's a pretty regular club, just underground (literally) and slightly damp as a result. nothing too bad. drinks are reasonably priced, the music is pretty good (just don't expect today's top hits, the djs don't take requests and seem to play stuff that anyone can get down to) and the crowd is hype. the layout is that there are two main rooms, one is a smaller dance-oriented room with a disco ball and the other is more of a vibe-y room with the bar running through the middle. went with a friend and had a good time, save for the usual creeps. the parking was limited so we did have to find parking on a neighboring street which was expected. as for the dress code, i wore a little black dress and felt overdressed tbh, a lot of people were dressed VERY casually like im talking graphic tees and jeans so honestly just throw on whatever when you come here! for my girlies, i would say safety was pretty good. despite the seemingly lax security check at the doors, i didn't see any fights, suspicious people, or ~assaults~ happening. just be vigilant as usual and always try to come as a group, i probably would have felt slightly anxious if i was alone because of the smallness of the venue not leaving many places to go if you needed to hide from someone giving you weird vibes lol. read more

The club itself is huge with different music to suit different tastes, staff was friendly, and bathroom lines were short/nonexistent. Welcome to the "no judgment" zone! The location: tucked behind Chipotle restaurant off Ponce de Leon, in a VERY tight parking block. At the door: I arrived with some friends around 11pm. We waited for about 5 minutes and then the bouncer let us in. There was no cover charge for us. The people: You will see tattooed, geeks, tree-huggers, musicians, preppy, jetsetters, ghetto-fabulous, dread heads, locals, old, young, college kids, white, black, asian, hispanic and everything else in between...oh yeah! Lots of couples were there all booed up. My favorite aspect is there are way more guys than girls in the place. It appeared to be about a 10:1 ratio of men to women, respectively. The men are so mannerable here. I heard a very polite "excuse me" at least 4 or 5 times that night from guys trying to pass through the dancefloor or get to the other side of the room. Every guy I danced with asked me "would you like to dance?" I was pleasantly surprised. The music: I heard Sugarhill Gang, Foxxy Brown, Case, Peter Gunz, Lil' Mo, Fabolous, Aaliyah, Lil' Kim, P. Diddy, Pastor Troy, Outkast, Michael Jackson and more! I visited on a Friday night which is Old-School Hip-Hop night. The only complaint I have about the music is the D.J. would cut off the song too quickly. Right as the crowd was getting pumped up, he would switch songs and you would hear a loud "awwww" come from everybody. People actually DANCE in this club! I mean REALLY DANCE and it was so much fun to actually go to a club in Atlanta where the dancefloor was packed like sardines with men and women jamming to their favorite songs. The bar and drinks: It is your regular center island bar. It was super-packed by the end of the night. Our shots were $5 a piece. The dress code: Casual, casual, casual...I wore an above-the-knee dress with flat leather sandals but my friends wore jeans, sneakers and a blouse. Most of the fellas had on jeans and a polo shirt or nice t-shirt. It is best not to wear heels and be as comfortable as possible because you will leave smelling like an ashtray. The format: I love how MJQ has adequate and FREE seating all around the club. There are these high step lounge booths attached to the outer walls where you can sit and have a drink in between trips to the dancefloor. At MJQ, it is no frills, no fuss. Just be yourself, smile and have fun. SPECIAL NOTES: (1) very smokey environment, if smoke bothers you, you will not last 10 minutes here (2) cash only, MJQ does not accept credit or debit cards (3) The bathrooms are horrible! It smelled like someone died in it. The lock latch was broken, so I had to hold my door closed with one hand while I balanced myself over the toilet to pee and hold my purse with my other hand. No mirrors, so if you're one of those cliqued up "pretty girls" your feelings are gonna be hurt when you go to check your lipgloss. (4) MJQ is like a juke-joint/hole-in-the wall atmosphere, so if you are looking for 5 star service with a skybox VIP seat...go to another club homey. read more
