It's free on Wednesday. Saturday the line is down the street and you can barely get around but it's one of my favorite spots. Very diverse music and people

    Creepy tunnel entrance

E X P E R I E N C E We went as a duo, two girls, on a Wed night. We stopped by Bookhaven for a bite to eat and chat , before we came here to blast our ears out and get some dance on. The entire place looks janky and run down. The entrance just had a few big guys checking ID's. No cover charges for anyone when we went. They did check my friends bag briefly. To enter, we walked down a tunnel. Super dark. A bit creepy but at the end you can clearly see light. M U S I C At a club like this where Im not looking/paying for an upscale experience-purely looking for a dance club, I expect there to always be bomb a-- music, especially given the crowds vibe. I'm knocking down a star bc of the music. Definitely personal preference but i didn't like that the music would switch styles every song. So one would be hip hop then the next is rock then the next is some classic song that everyone can sing to then the next is disco. It was very confusing for me lool i like to move from genre to genre over a period of time, not after every song. I do want to note though, that the transitions were seemless. And I was definitely impressed by that. There were a few DJs manning the booth. I'm a huge people watcher so I had so much fun seeing people sing their hearts out or see the pure happiness that oozes out, by their body language. It gave me so much joy. People are here to DANCE! I'm very impressed. There were a few guys that approached us but so long as I didn't make eye contact, most guys kinda just moved away. No one was creepy. People were respectful and just wanted to be friendly. A few people asked me for my number and when I said no or yes, they didn't try to attack me, which i appreciate. I didn't know that there was actually a smaller room in the back (somewhere) that had more hiphop rap 90s!! I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more. A T T I R E I wore shorts, a light cropped long sleeve and runners. You can be as formal or as casual as you like but it seems like most people leaned towards casual. It's a little chilly when you initially walk down the entrance,, but theres no need for a jacket, even in the end of Dec. Trust me. I get cold very easily and i felt hot in the club, even with the fan blowing and good ventilation. TIP: if u get hot in the club, find the spots on the dance floor that has cool air blowing directly on you. It feels soo good. TIP: there's a stage that anyone can go up/come off of at anytime! Show your moves or hype people up! D R I N K S I did not buy anything here but everything seemed to be very reasonably priced. See photos for pricing. S E C U R I T Y People were clearly drunk but no one caused a scene, trying to fight or was vomiting on others. They were just having a great time. I loved that for them. Throughout the night i saw a few big security guys sitting at the couches, along the edge of the dance floor, and watching. I did see them move through the crowd a few times too. I appreciated their vigilance. R E S T R O O M Females had 4 stalls-two on each side- and the middle had two sinks. The floors were not kept but the toilets seemed decent. One of the stalls, the lock was broken. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and would definitely come back. Probably on a different day with music I like or try the smaller room. I felt quite safe so next time I'd probably go a little harder!! I'm excited.

Wow oh wow, I think I might have found one of the best clubs in the country. MJQ Concourse is an unassuming spot, but once you get patted down and enter free on Wednesday, for $5 Thursday, or for $10 Friday and Saturday ($5 online), you'll literally go underground and find yourself in a sprawling space. On the left, there's a ring light and green shrubbery for the gram pics, a horseshoe-shaped bar, and a great dance floor. There's spots to rest up at top and sit down if you need a quick break, also lots of air conditioning because it gets HOT down there. On the right, another dance floor and bar, as well as chairs though no air conditioning there. On the night I went they had disco and it was such a blast, danced the night away. I'll be honest, I'm always afraid of going to places like this as someone with a visual impairment, but I had no problems whatsoever and everyone was very friendly and laid back, just there to have a good time. I met some incredible people and all the music was just as diverse as the crowd there. I've paid way more for way less. If you're looking for somewhere to go tonight in Atlanta, this is the move. EDIT: I saw Lil Nas X here a couple nights ago. I'm gonna miss this place.

The vibe was cool, but I was refused water several times (despite buying drinks all night). The bartender was not understanding and it was bothersome being a patron there all night and then being treated that way.

Arrive early if you want a table

I'll start off by saying that I'm not a dance club type of person, but I have been to a few with friends for various celebrations and evenings out. This is the first one I've been to in Atlanta. This casual, no-frills 21+ dance club with minimal decor, amenities, and an unassuming entrance reminded me of places I frequented during the first month of my freshman year in college (ten years ago). *Smoking is allowed inside* They open at 11pm, are *cash only* and do charge a cover. Find street parking for free, pay a few and park in the lot across the street, or try your luck in the lot of the plaza behind the club. Once you get through the entrance, you walk down a walkway into the basement. The bar is in the middle, the stage is at the end, and there are a few tables to stand at by the bar and a few with seats towards the stage, on the sides of the club. I was here on a Friday night as part of a birthday celebration and arrived early to grab a table and place to sit and place our things. The club had no problems with us bringing a cake and balloons (didn't call ahead or anything). We also had sparkler candles which didn't pose a problem either (not sure if the sparkler candles were ok or they just didn't see them). An employee just came by our table and told us to clean up before we left. Again, I'm not a dance club person, but people seemed to be having fun. It got more crowded around 1230am. People were dressed in everything from a suit to sneakers. You'll just be in for a shock if you're expecting something nice. But if you just wanted to dance, I suppose it's good enough. Leave your nice clothes/shoes/accessories at home. Seriously. The music was pretty good though. One more thing - no cell service if you have AT&T. Verizon works though!

Ask the Community - MJQ Concourse

    Is this 18+ or 21?

    21+

Is this place still open right now April 2021?

It was opened end of March 2021 when me and my friends went.

Are you allow to smoke inside?

yes but only on the week end.

What kind of vibe/music is it on Saturday nights?

    What's the age limit?

    21 is the age

Whats the music like on Saturday?

I went on a Saturday and there was a nice variety. The main room played, hip hop, trap, edm/dance, etc. The DJ was on point. I'm not sure if he was a resident DJ or a guest DJ but I left feeling like I need his mixtape. Another room played Old School… Read more

I have on question really, is it 18+?

    21 +

Is there a cover? If so what's normally the cover on Friday day/what did you pay if you went on a Friday?

I paid $10 then I went another time after that and there wasn't a cover...

    Is this 18 & up?

    Nope, 21+.

Should I wear sneakers? I used to come there 10 years ago ....Will wearing nice shoes/heels be total mistake? the floor was always "swampy". Is it still like that?

Yes it's still a hot mess. When I'm wearing nicer shoes or sneakers I stick to the bar, sideline benches or backroom. The dance floor is a wetland and your sneakers or heels will become collateral damage.

So, HERE is that review of Domaine nightclub in Atlanta: Visited domaine to catch deadmau5 when he was in town a few weeks back. WORST venue I've ever been to in Atlanta. First off, why did you convert your main dance floor into a 10 ft wide hallway? It's like you designed it to ensure crowd crushing dynamics happen. Want to get near the middle of the dance floor two hours before the headliner goes on? Good luck! you are gonna be fighting for hours inch by inch into people who already have no room to spare until you *maybe* get there. IF you do, you're gonna find there's not any more room to breathe in the middle and everyone who made it that far is also miserable. People were getting exhausted simply trying to maintain their spot and I heard at least five different people exclaim outloud that they hated being there. I watched some people attempt to shove their way forward, and for the first time ever I saw them actually get denied due the sheer lack of physical space. Literally the venue got to a point where there was no way they could even *shove* themselves forward, because every single inch was occupied by a person already. It was disgusting. I can honestly say that *CATTLE ON A FACTORY FARM HAVE MORE SPACE THAN YOU WILL HAVE* in general admission. Meanwhile over in VIP, it appeared that for many of the people, simply enjoying their seat in the booth was not sufficient. They had to sit on TOP of the booths, which funny enough blocks the view for all the people in general admission on the left and right sides attempting to find some way to enjoy the show they paid for. Of course, 2/3 into that show the VIP areas were completely empty. Which is wild because at least 30% of the total floor space was completely vacant while the other 70% were suffocating. Keep in mind I am 6' 2" and I could barely see, so if you're shorter than me you have absolutely no chance. I have been around the Atlanta EDM scene for 10 years and this venue is hands-down the worst i've ever seen. Thankfully, there are so many other good venues to choose from that we can all avoid this place the owners come to realize they have taken a once functional nightclub, and turned it into a total nightmare for 90% of their customers in an attempt to make more money on bottle service and VIP tickets. There is absolutely no reason to go see an act at Domaine.

I can't help but think the owners here just want suck money out of the LGBTQ community, not provide an actually decent experience. Let's start with the basics. When I was here around Halloween last year, I had to use the bathroom. That was a big mistake. There was a drag show that night... MSR's response? To close the women's restroom and make it a drag prep room and then force people of all identities to use ONE restroom with ONE stall and a urinal. There was easily over 100 people in the building. You mean to tell me a LESBIAN BAR is providing ONE TOILET TO A TON OF WOMEN? Be fr. I had to wait in line with the door to the bathroom open just to use a gross toilet while men are walking in and out freely to use the urinal. Why am I being subjected to that??? Another major gripe that I have with MSR- they (illegally?) deny free water here. Maybe that has changed, the last time I was here was over the summer. But out of the like 5-6 times I have been at MSR, they've denied me cups of water every single time and the bartender insisted I have to buy bottled water. Isn't it against state law to do that in Georgia? What a truly terrible way to treat your patrons. They don't care about you. At all lol. I'm sure if they didn't have to live up to health department guidelines that conditions would be even worse. My sisters room gets business and attention because it's the only lesbian bar in this area. If (hopefully WHEN) another lesbian bar shows up on the Atlanta scene, MSR better count it's days. It's really sad and frustrating to me because I want to come here and have a good time but I just can't. As a patron I've had a bad or neutral experience every single time I went. The only reason last time was neutral was because I held my pee the whole time. I shouldn't have to do that. Please do better. This bar has no right being recognized as one of the last standing lesbian bars. If you're an entrepreneur and you're reading this, please start another lesbian bar here.
