The club is like a prison metaphorically and literally. The room you pay in, is like the intake room. Once you go into this prison like gray shabby door, you cannot turn around because the door you came in doesn't have a handle..like a prison. Worst of all the bartenders literally STEAL from you. The bar tender told me that shits were $8/ shot. The my husband paid in cash $32 for 4 shots. And the bartender was like no it's $33. Snatched another dollar out of his hand. And I was like I thought you said the shot were $8. She was like I said $8.50 or $9. I'm like you didn't say that, she insisted she did and she did not! She lied. Plus 8.50x4 isn't $33 it's 34 and $9x4 is 36 not $33. So again she just lied, made it up so beware of that. You also cannot stand by the bar. The security literally came over to us and told us we were not allowed to congregate by the bar after buying our drinks. He ushered us into the dance floor. Mind you at this time, it is NOT crowded. This is a pretty historical spot in Atlanta. It always pretty consistent. An authentic Caribbean vibe but not pretentious. They are mostly cash only so be sure to bring cash for entry. I came here on a Sunday night with friends from out of state. We all enjoyed ourselves. They played Caribbean/hip hop music. Jasmyn was a great server for us all night. They actually made me even want to go up and dance (but I didnt bc I'm a chicken). **The guys who tried dancing with us, were generally quite polite. 2 guys just came up behind me and started dancing. 2 guys tried by starting conversation first. 3 guys asked me if they could dance w me, instead of just shoving their body onto mine. When I declined verbally or via body language, they laughed and proceeded to dance to the side of our group or walked away. They weren't rude/didn't seem offended, which I appreciated. No pressure and I like that. I also like that they were approachable. At some clubs, guys just stare at you all night and don't approach you, or the guys are creepy and awkward when they do approach. The guys here were very gentle with me and polite. But if you like it rough, there are definitely guys here who practically were doing the deed with the girls, but with clothes on. Mostly black people here. Not as racially diverse if that matters to you. I saw a like two other Asians, a few Caucasians and two Mexicans there. Your whole being will smell of cigs/weed when you leave. Nobody acted out of control or crazy drunk, which is definitely a plus! Twerking contest happens Monday at 3AM. 5 girls were chosen and went up to the stage with the pole, and competed for the $200 prize. O U T F I T If you do a lot of twerking, dancing and "getting down" I'd def go with comfortable attire. If you want to just look cute and sit around, wear a dress and heels. Some women were wearing tracksuits with running shoes, while others (like us) were wearing dresses and heels. Just depends. Vibes in the club itself is straight. The jamaicans usually have a strong presence but most of the other caribbean islands are represented well. There are groups of guys who take the center of the dance floor hostage for their choreographed routines which can be either entertaining or really annoying. Ratio of man to woman usually decent. You can usually find a few women dancing, having a good time and not acting stush but there will be a lot of girls just wanting to dance with themselves or female friends. The drinks be pretty cheap. Henny and cran is about $9 dollars for a decent cup. Beers are $4-6 depending on the night. Strippers are there certain nights and there are booty shaking contests on sunday. pretty entertaining The bad is the area this is located in has high levels of crime. 8/10 times you will experience a car break in. Ive seen this happen numerous times. I bet money if you go to the parking lot right now during the day you will find broken car glass all over. Its been happening for years and the police either cant or wont do anything to stop it. Park at your own risk takes on a whole new meaning in this place. My advice would be to get there super early and park as close to the club as possible. Dont leave ur strap, wallet, jewelry or important documents in the car l. I have been going here a very long time, like 10 years plus. However the DJS that are there now really need to step up their game, it's the same play list every time I go. And the sad part is that it's literally 3 of them, how are all of you playing the same exact list. It's so much new music out here, however no one will play it. This is my second time going, the first was for Carnival weekend so it would have been unfair to write a review based on that weekend. So I went last night on a "regular" Saturday night and was unimpressed. We got there a little before 12:30am and the dance floor hardly had people on it. Everyone just seemed to be standing around on the outskirts of the dance floor like they were waiting for an invitation to jump in. I thought, this is not double-dutch people?!?! We decided to stay a few hours and see if people would start pouring in at a later time (maybe they knew something we didn't) and it never happened. The Dj played much more hip-hop than I expected for a Jamaican Club so that threw me for a while. So for a Saturday night, the party really never turned in to a party after all, and after a few hours we decided to move on to the next. Maybe Friday or Saturday night will be better. The dance floor is nicely lit with party lights flashing everywhere and it's spacious enough for you to get your groove on. They definitely do not have a space issue. Love, Love, Love the bathroom concierge service! She's really helpful, has lots of goodies for sale, so tip her well. And it does help that the bathroom is clean, smells good and the stalls are very private. I been to the peacock years ago they didn't have hookahs then so I was excited when I saw that they do now. They had good drinks specials until 12am. At first I had a bob Marley it was $10 but then I got the special drinks which I choose the blue mutherfucker it was $5. The hookah was $30. Horrible experience. A woman, who had obviously been served too much to drink, collapsed and was roughly manhandled and thrown out by security. I was very worried about her because she was completely alone and no one seemed to know her, so i approached one of the security guards (a man about 5"9 with long dreads in a top knot )to ask if the woman was ok. He didn't even open his mouth to acknowledge me and rudely put his hand in my face, waving me off. To top things off, as we were leaving the rest of the security team hurled disrespectful remarks at us, basically kicking us out. Best nights to go are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Your best bet is to attend on weekends because the weekdays can be a hit or miss due to people working the next day. I just moved to GA about a week ago and was excited about going out to hear some reggae. A few months ago I came to Atlanta and had a great experience there. Every weekend I receive texts about what they have going on and now that I'm living here I thought to take advantage of one of the perks of being a subscriber. After driving from Douglasville and finding parking which in all took over an hour, the guy at the door was very rude and condescending to me. I showed him the text on my phone and he claimed that it had been forwarded. I was upset and in no mood to argue so my friend and I went to the bar next door and tried to make the best of our night. I felt like his actions were uncalled for and for that I refuse to support this business. I am going to figure out how to unsubscribe to the text messages and find another place to hear reggae. read more

Not a review, but a memory. I was a student at Emory U. in the early sixties. My friends and I would go to the Peacock on Saturday nights. Usually we were the only white people in the place, but we were treated like everyone else. We took our own bottle and once we even took some North Georgia moonshine. The entertainment was always great. Dinah Washington and Jerry Butler are a couple of names I remember. I will always remember the club bouncers carrying those long flashlight with 4 or 5 D-cell batteries in them. If you got out of line, they would shine them at you. Every night there is a way to get in free go to the site. The entire staff is friendly and entertaining.The best day is Sunday after 1 AM. Everyone pretty much have their liquor courage at that point.Its free all night text "FREESUNDAYS" to 545454. I've been on a Friday and Saturday and it's dead and the DJ talk too much. Sunday is hosted by V103 and it was the perfect mixture of different types of Caribbean music and hip hop.
