A lively place of mainly 20s and 30's. Great music and the food was okay. Your usual wings and fries type fares. You have to go up to the bar for all food and drink orders but the sales persons wee friendly and the drinks wee tasty and well balanced. It's dark inside but not too. The DJ knows what to play and her MC was lively and kept the crowd going! There is a $10 cover charge and $10 parking in the AC hotel lot.....see the MSR website. I wish I could love MSR, I really do. But sadly no matter how hard I try, they just mess up so badly it's impossible. I can't help but think the owners here just want suck money out of the LGBTQ community, not provide an actually decent experience. Let's start with the basics. When I was here around Halloween last year, I had to use the bathroom. That was a big mistake. There was a drag show that night... MSR's response? To close the women's restroom and make it a drag prep room and then force people of all identities to use ONE restroom with ONE stall and a urinal. There was easily over 100 people in the building. You mean to tell me a LESBIAN BAR is providing ONE TOILET TO A TON OF WOMEN? Be fr. I had to wait in line with the door to the bathroom open just to use a gross toilet while men are walking in and out freely to use the urinal. Why am I being subjected to that??? Another major gripe that I have with MSR- they (illegally?) deny free water here. Maybe that has changed, the last time I was here was over the summer. But out of the like 5-6 times I have been at MSR, they've denied me cups of water every single time and the bartender insisted I have to buy bottled water. Isn't it against state law to do that in Georgia? What a truly terrible way to treat your patrons. They don't care about you. At all lol. I'm sure if they didn't have to live up to health department guidelines that conditions would be even worse. My sisters room gets business and attention because it's the only lesbian bar in this area. If (hopefully WHEN) another lesbian bar shows up on the Atlanta scene, MSR better count it's days. It's really sad and frustrating to me because I want to come here and have a good time but I just can't. As a patron I've had a bad or neutral experience every single time I went. The only reason last time was neutral was because I held my pee the whole time. I shouldn't have to do that. Please do better. This bar has no right being recognized as one of the last standing lesbian bars. If you're an entrepreneur and you're reading this, please start another lesbian bar here. read more

Had a good time here came to celebrate my niece 21st birthday. This is definitely a younger crowd but we had fun. The staff was very nice and the bar tenders kept up well with everyone. I believe they have food but we got there after the kitchen closed. Parking is street or closest garage. Overall again for the younger crowd a safe space to have fun and be yourself! Tonight was my first night visiting this bar. It started well, the door lady was sweet and smiled, the bar staff were a bit overwhelmed but they made it through well. We paid for tickets early to see Yvie Oddly while she was in town performing. The bar obviously didn't plan for the event though! On the flip side, the upstairs DJ (the guy that looked too young to be in the bar) cut the speakers mid show so he could play random music we could literally hear in any bar. WE DIDNT COME TO LISTEN TO RADIO MUSIC! We came to see Yvie Oddly and we paid for it as well!!!!! The security staff were completely ridiculous and incompetent. If you can wave a flashlight while you text on your phone, you can work here. If you wanna hear the show you paid for and you pop your head around the corner to hear it, instead of the crap DJ music DONT...the security staff FINALLY come to life. "Don't block this", "my butt hurts that" ,"I'm underpaid and couldn't graduate high school, but wanna pretend I have authority". This is when we left. We gave up and decided 20 years in business is enough for this bar, they need to keep up with times or close. So far it's nothing to rave about! Get up or get out! I had to think for a while about what to write for review. My Sister's Room (MSR) has moved multiple times through the years. In its previous location we saw Yvie Oddly. At the time we thought it wasn't a great place for a drag show. The meet and greet was nice though. We got to meet Yvie and talk a minute. The drag show was hard to see and it was cramped. So, when we heard MSR had gotten a new location we were so excited! A group of us decided to go and see Anetra from this last season of US Rupaul's Drag Race. We got VIP tickets so we could meet Anetra. The whole meet and greet was a disaster. The space was too small and it was hard to tell where the line was supposed to form. And for the very first time ever, we were not allowed to go up and get a group picture with Anetra. I've been to drag show all over in multiple cities and states and venues. And we have always been able to get a group shot. We had to do individuals. And it took forever!!!! The drag show itself started late because of the meet and greet disaster. The people that were there to see the show were also very rude and did not respect anyone's space. For a Ru girl show, I do not recommend MSR and would say it's a one star venue. But as a cool bar to go and hang out where there is a great outdoor space it's a high four star to low five. read more

Seems like a cool club. If you want a place to hang and get drinks, you should be happy. But I only ordered take out since they were open late. I got hot chicken wings, fries, extra blue cheese dressing, and extra celery. The blue cheese was put on the wings so they were hot. There was no celery or carrot sticks. The fries were whatever. The wings are very salty, and i was expecting them to be buffalo sauce. I'm not sure what this is. I have to be honest, these are the worst wings i've ever had. I bought tickets to Crystal Methyd and tonight my experience was fine until the very end. After the first show, security guards forcefully made patrons vacate the premises to the backyard, and once it was full, patrons like myself were forced onto the street. Security told us to wait in line at that point with FULL DRINKS in hand which is illegal because there is not an open-container policy in public. I personally was holding about 8oz of Jameson whiskey when I was forced onto the street to wait in line to be re-admitted. I am a business owner and have been self employed for almost 6 years. This is illegal. I was not allowed to access the rest of the facility (*which I paid for with my show ticket) without being readmitted. Not even to go pee on the same level that I already had admittance. So I left. As a business owner that supports other small businesses, I have been here twice, and both times I've not only been disappointed, but I've been appalled by the illegal business practices. As an LGBT+ individual I am reluctant to advocate disciplinary action on another gay venue, but I feel that this business should lose its license and should be closed due to customer treatment. If challenged, I have video of the whole process tonight with every security guard I encountered. I made it clear I was not upset at employees doing their job, but that it was very clear they were following illegal orders from management. read more

We came here because it was part of bar crawl. They were playing 90s music which was a pleasant surprise. It is a small venue which made for a packed house. Although it was small, people were enjoying themselves. I had tacos simply because they were $2. They weren't that great either. My friend ordered a Margarita here and she said it was good. MSR is one of the most fun places in the whole city. I've been coming here every couple of weeks since I moved down here and I've never had a bad time. They always play great music and have a wide variety of performances in the basement. The drinks are also pretty cheap and will do the job. Out of all the Midtown places I bring my non-ATL friends to, they enjoy MSR the most. Definitely stop by if you want to create one of the best nights out you can have in Atlanta. read more

I won't be returning here again. I've had my 3rd, and final, bad experience at MSR. I purchased two drinks for a friend and myself at 11:08 pm on a Sunday night. This establishment closes at 12am on Sundays, but they cut the music off at 11:25pm. At 11:30 pm they said last call for alcohol, then at 11:40pm they were pushing us all out of the bar saying, " You ain't gotta go home, but you gotta get the hell outta here. Always has my vote as a lesbian exclusive bar in America! WE NEED MORE HOMES! I appreciate this place. It reminded me of a club we used to have in Indy but not anymore. The clientele was not what I would have wanted it to be but I still had a good time. The club has two levels, the bar and show room as I call it upstairs for drag and talent shows. Downstairs is the club which is super small with a small stage where there is talent shows and a dance floor with a bar. Has a smoke section on a patio outside where a lot people hung out. There are some couches to chill at in the club area if you want to people watch. There is a $10 cover charge not sure if that is every night or not. Drinks are priced as any club would.
