I was actually supposed to meet my nephew at the new location in Eagle. It's actually closer to us but my sweet nephew got confused and headed down to the downtown location. No problem, I made my way downtown to meet my baby for some aunty/nephew time. It's been a few months since I have been in. The shop is a cute as ever. Merch is now available. The pink t shirt they have available was calling my name! It's the perfect shade of pink and sooooo soft. I will have to come back and really check out the merch. My nephew had already been waiting for me to arrive. He's ready for his ice cream! I noticed that they had pistachio as a flavor at the Eagle location. Kinda bummed that it wasn't available here but sweet cream and chocolate will always be a winning combo here. So today I grabbed a kiddie swirl. My nephew grabbed the medium cup with sweet cream, cherry sauce and brownies. Our ice cream was fantastic. My nephew polished off his big cup. Not gonna lie, all the extras he added made his cup look sooooooo good! I as well polished off mine. Can't leave any behind. We got to hang out with the other customers that were enjoying their treats. It makes me heart so happy seeing all these folks come and support a small local business. It's the best! I am going on another ice cream date with my neice next week. Looking forward to checking out the new venue with her. Still happy that my nephew and I got to come here today to enjoy our sweet treat. It didn't have the vanilla flavor I was craving. My husband got the chocolate which I tried and it tasted much better. The mini size is plenty big by the way. My biggest issue was the parking here. Their parking lot has two spots, that's it! The only parking is on the street...kinda, because there were signs all over that said you had to have a permit, so my husband circled around the block while I got our ice cream. I told the gal at the counter about the parking situation, not that she could do anything about it, but she did say you can ignore the signs in the evening and park anywhere . I guess it's more enforced during work hours. If I lived in the north end I would come back and try their other flavors but I don't so it's probably a one and done for me. Definitely a try for those that live walking distance.

I don't know what they feed them cows in Idaho, but it should be standard for all cows across America! Their ice cream is soooo good! I appreciate anything chocolate and this one didn't disappoint! I got it with my favorite chocolate sprinkles on a waffle cone. It's as yummy as they come! (Note to Stella: If you had chocolate dipped waffle cones, I'd pay extra! :) ) We decided to eat in the store and the 5-year old in me came out! Unfortunately, the lunch menu wasn't available on Sunday, which was a little disappointing. We ended up ordering the Kung Pao Beef and Black Pepper Beef. Both were very good, although they were similar enough that it was sometimes hard to tell them apart. The Kung Pao had a little more zip and the peanuts helped distinguish it, while the Black Pepper Beef had a darker, richer sauce with a noticeable peppery flavor. The staff was excellent--friendly, attentive, and welcoming--and the food itself was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. At $37 for lunch without drinks, it felt a little expensive for a casual lunch, but the quality and service made it feel worthwhile. Overall, Mala House was a very good experience. If you enjoy Sichuan flavors. it's definitely worth checking out. We'll be back, and next time I'm hoping to catch that lunch menu and try the soup.

It had great depth of flavor and that classic numbing heat. If you enjoy mala, this one does the job. The hot pot ingredients are a bit limited, but they cover the basics. Things like lobster balls, beef balls, thinly sliced meats, quail eggs, and a variety of vegetables. You can also build your own dipping sauce, which is always nice. Their à la carte items didn't impress me as much though. I'll need to try more of the menu to be fair, but for now, I'd say stick with the hot pot if it's your first time. Service was great. Our server was friendly. It also wasn't very busy the times I've been, which made for a quiet and relaxed experience. It's not SGV level, but definitely one of the better options around here if you're craving hot pot.

My mom didn't let me grandma have any donut holes so I had to take one for the team and enjoy them for her. They were so good! They were soft and tasty. Every donut hole was nicely glazed. It's amazing you can polish off 7 donut holes and not realize that you had that many. They are so dainty that you don't realize how fast you're eating them. Each one was great! The gal that worked today was really sweet. I did take a bite of my husband's apple fritter and it was tasty as well! My husband also enjoyed it. My other grandma enjoyed her donut holes. Have they always and we just didn't notice? Regardless, today one of those was our choice. My 100% Italian heritage husband who grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn never has quite warmed up to cinnamon rolls, a staple of my WASP Portland-Seattle upbringing so it is usual that if we order one to share then I will get the lion's share. But as we sipped our Americano's and enjoyed this one, I nearly had to stab his hand with my plastic fork to keep him from eating some of my half. Another great surprise on this visit was their donut holes, offered in a bag and little clear container, made with their sour cream cake donut batter! Samples were offered on the counter and SO good that I thought about picking up a container before we left but a woman came in while we were eating and sipping, tasted the sample and bought the bag and every one of the six or seven containers of them to take away with her.
