Would give 4.5 if half stars were a thing. Really only subtracting a star because one of the people behind the counter seemed like they did not want to be dealing with customers. The other person there was great though! I was drawn in by the array of unique flavors and vegan options. I had really wanted to get something boozy and vegan, but they only had one flavor on at the moment that fit the bill and I wasn't particularly interested, so I sampled a few of the dairy boozy flavors and went with a vegan non-boozy ice cream for my actual order because a full scoop of dairy ice cream does not sit right in my stomach. I liked the boozy flavors more but that was only because of the flavors offered - the vegan ice cream itself was great, very smooth and creamy, not overly sugary. I got the float season vegan ice cream: blackberry ice cream with salted dark chocolate. I did still enjoy this flavor a lot. I really liked the crunchy bittersweet dark chocolate bits. I didn't get anything to drink but I was kind of tempted. The ice cream + beer or wine flights looked interesting. I don't know wine well enough to comment, but it looked like they had a good selection of beer with quality brewers and a good variety of beer types. This is technically a Warehouse Food Hall vendor but it's only accessible from the street outside the food hall. I've been here quite a few times, and it's mostly good, but a little hit and miss for me sometimes. My favorite, and one I highly recommend is the Honeycomb & Caramel. I thought it would be too sweet, but it was perfect! The honeycomb added a bit of crunch too. They also have a lot od dairy-free and gluten-free options for those who need those, I haven't tried their waffle cones, so I can't offer any insight there, but they sure smell good! I think they get a bit heavy with the sugar sometimes, and some of their seasonal flavors taste a bit "off", especially the Fall flavors. Hopefully, we're past that and they have it figured out. They have a fabulous Vanilla, so if they can get that right, then we're good! My husband loves the chinky chocolate types of ice cream, and orders some version of them every time. Yep, he's chocolate. I'm vanilla. It works! They are free flowin' with trying flavors before you buy, so take advantage of it to try some new and fancy flavors. I came here for a post disappointment of a dinner. Location was close to our hotel in downtown. I got a single of the phat Mint, which was utterly delicious. The mint was really pronounced and delicious. Service was great and even if they were busy it was very quick service. Highly recommended. read more

If I was rating the icecream, this would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately, when my husband and I came tonight, we had a very unpleasant experience with one of the workers. Despite there being no line, she was rushing us along. The second we asked for a sample, she immediately asked what size. When we asked for a second sample, she rolled her eyes at us. It made both of us very uncomfortable. We asked to share a double, and she only gave us one spoon. It felt very passive aggressive. Not sure I'll return to this location. read more

If you compile data on the highest-rated ice cream stores across the United States, the STIL (Sweetest Things In Life) in Boise is ranked an impressive 11th overall! Now, theoretically it should be unforgettable ice cream with those ratings! But locals in Boise seem to overrate their eateries, and unfortunately STIL is no exception. Despite an average customer rating of 4.77 on all platforms, the ice cream is shockingly mediocre. It doesn't even compare to decent store-bought brands, much less the life-changing creameries throughout America's top 20. Some of the flavors are creative, and of course ice cream is always good. But the ratings for STIL are way overblown! read more

I wasn't even craving ice cream since it was such a cold night, but when I spotted a flavor called Marky Mark and the Crunchy Brunch (hello nostalgia!), I couldn't resist getting in line. Sadly, it was sold out, so I went with the Idaho Wilderness, a lovely lavender flavor, and it totally hit the spot. Craving satisfied thanks to STIL "Sweetest Things in Life" ! Ice cream is really good. They have alcoholic ice cream options and several beer options. If you can't decide there are also ice cream and beer flights (4 flavors). Service was good, staff were nice and got through the line pretty quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are some limited seats inside and plenty outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is mostly street parking and it's in a popular neighborhood, especially at night and on the weekend. Cool ice cream place with lots of flavors to choose from and funny names! They even offer boozy ice cream and beer flights which is unique to an ice cream place. I got "The See me Rolling" (cinnamon roll) and "Like the Spoon" (brownie batter). The cinnamon roll had chucks of it inside of it. I liked the brownie batter a lot. I was guided to this ice cream shop by a local, and I just wanted to say "Thank you" random local person. I went solo the first trip. When my wife found out I went on my own, she informed me that it was already on her well-researched pre-trip list (so, we went again together). ANYWAY, this place was great. For my first trip, I had the Marky Mark and the Funky Crunch, the Bake Sale, and the Fresh Powder...all in one cup. Awesomeness. I forgot to note what I got the second time and what is pictured below, but just know that it is ALL good. Even if I said the ice cream was subpar, which I wouldn't, and it wasn't, they had two things that would make them a five regardless. One, their clever flavor combinations. You don't have to worry about going in and choosing between vanilla and chocolate. They live off the beaten path in their creations. Actually, the toughest and most fun part of the process was picking the flavors that would merge well together. Two, I am not sure if they selectively hired energetic kids behind the counter, or if working at the place just made normal kids more awesome, but we were greeted with curiosity, energy, and efficiency each of my times there. They could just go through the motions with their part-time job, but they actually elevated the whole experience. I got the brownie batter and it was delicious! My son got a coconut cake batter (which was vegan), and loved it (and he's not vegan). I would go back to Boise just for The STIL! Such a great place for ice cream lovers. We came in during their happy hour time (which began at 2pm). All flights are $15 during HH, which is a great deal! The employee was super nice and patient and was not bothered that we tried multiple ice cream flavors; there were just SO many good ones to choose from! He also gave suggestions about pairings with the wines and beer we got on our flight (2 wine, 2 beer, 4 ice cream). Also a flight of ice cream and either just beer, wine, or both is an EXCELLENT concept!! The ice cream was a great consistency and all of the flavors were fantastic. We settled on their Night Cap, Green Belt, Cookies with Grandma, and Picnic in the Park. All of them were delicious, but Night Cap was our favorite (forewarning it does have alcohol in it). 10/10 would recommend!! read more

No wonder the STIL has been voted Boise's Best Dessert shop for 5 years in a row! I love that they have unique flavors all made from real ingredients. It doesn't get much better than that! They also have a lot of options for everyone including dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan flavors and their famous booze infused creations. They have a wide selection of wine and beer options. In addition to ice cream, they have fresh local espresso and sandwiches too. I had two of their creations recently including the Idaho Wilderness with berry and lavender ice cream and bake sale ice cream. I loved both but the bake sale was a winner for me with the cookie dough, brownies and chocolate drizzle! They have a beautiful shop in downtown Boise with seating inside as well as a great patio with umbrellas and different seating options. They have a great vibe and great product! read more

Delicious ice cream spot in Boise! They have a variety of flavors to offer (and the majority of them are gluten-free). I've tried Fresh Powder and Summer Hike, and personally loved the Summer Hike. It was refreshing and not too sweet. They have sizes ranging from "micro" to a pint, or you can even get a flight of ice cream plus wine or beer! There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be an issue, but that's expected in downtown Boise. The service was quick and friendly! Highly recommend coming here if you're in the mood for sweet treats! read more

OMG! The STIL which stands for sweeter things in life was sooooo delicious. We stopped in on a Saturday night after dinner up the street at Fork. I don't remember the fun names of what we all order but depending on the size you order you can get 1-2 or 3-4 different flavors. I tried the apple pie blend, a blackberry ice cream with dark chocolate chunks and something with Oreo cookies. All three were delicious. If you love apple pie I would highly recommend that one, but if you're like my wife and mere like it you probably want to go with a more traditional option. They have a ton of different flavors so even the pickiest eaters will find one they love. Also, while not my jam, they also do booze infused ice cream flavor blends which seemed pretty popular while we people watched and scarfed down our ice cream. The two servers were super helpful and cheerful. They kept the line moving which was pretty impressive with all of the sampling, recommendations, and scooping involved. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I shudder to think of the crowds this place pulls in during the summer months given location downtown and ample outdoor patio space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also think they have at least one other location. While I don't love the idea of franchising because it dilutes the magic of whatever made a place great in the first place, I do think it is a compliment to recognize how successful a place would be as a franchise and The STIL could go national (but I hope they don't). read more

STIL- Sweet Things In Life My friend and I came in and had an ice cream and wine flight. Ice cream is more my thing while wine is more her thing. There were plenty of flavors to choose from and I liked the unique names. Here is what I went with: Phat Mints- dark chocolate & fresh mint I'm Your Huckleberry- huckleberry Ed and Carl Take Reno- honey bourbon Idaho Wilderness- lavender & berries The ice cream was really creamy, but there wasn't one I particularly loved. I definitely didn't like the honey bourbon though- alcoholic ice cream is not for me. STIL seems to do well though, as they have three locations and local grocery stores carry their ice cream. More like 3 or 3.5. Although I didn't order what it's famous for, since don't drink. This place is busy a good feeling atmosphere and has some outdoor seating. I ordered the summer hike (strawberry sorbet) It was smooth and light, but not overly sugary, which is a plus) but it just didn't seem refreshing enough in a hot night. Not to say it wasn't good, it is since I went and ordered another one (this time no waffle cone, since the first wasn't that good at all, or didn't mix well with that ice cream). I you want ice cream with alcohol it may be a different story, but if it's regular ice cream your after there are better places. read more

We stayed overnight in Boise, Idaho during our road trip to Las Vegas. Read great reviews about The STIL so we drove to downtown to try it out since it was a hot summer day. Parking is available around the area. The STIL is connected to a food hall so there were lots of young people out on a Saturday night. There was a line but it moved relatively fast. Customers can sample only one flavor of ice cream so I tried "licking the spoon". Hubby and I shared a double cup where you can get 4 flavours and we got the following: 1. Licking the spoon - brownie batter 2. Afternoon recess - nutella pretzel 3. Fresh powder - vanilla cream cheese 4. Apple of my eye - salted caramel apple pie My favorite was "licking the spoon" while hubby liked "fresh powder". Their ice cream is dense and has somewhat of a sticky texture sort of like frozen custard. Flavours were distinct yet not too sweet but a bit heavier compared to other ice creams. Overall, it was a great place to try what Boise, ID has to offer. read more

Pro-tip: They let you sample! Look closely at the freezer because some flavors were not on the menu. I got carded when I asked to sample the alcoholic ice creams. The flight of 8 ice creams is A LOT of ice cream, so unless you're in a big group, I would recommend ordering a double scoop or two and just doing several flavors within it - and trust me, I eat A LOT of ice cream. Highlights: I love being able to get a flight at any ice cream place. They have lots of flavors and some fun mix-ins as well. My favorites were probably the Easy Like Sunday Morning - Espresso and Caramel, Le Bloob - Lemon Blueberry Pie and the Carrot Cake. Lowlights: Some of them were overly sweet (beware of the Licking the Spoon - Brownie Batter and Afternoon Recess - Nutella and Pretzels), so it's hard to put down 8 scoops of ice cream. I wish you could get a smaller flight like 4 scoops instead of 8 - although a close alternative is probably getting a double scoop or two and splitting the flavors. read more

Amazing ice cream shop with so many fresh-made original flavors. I tried a bunch of options and the staff were friendly and knowledgable. I really liked the The Bake Sale (cookie dough, brownies and choco drizzle) and Deja Vu (Oreo, waffles cone, almond cream), but I got something with a completely different taste profile, Stary Night (orange stracciatella). Unfortunately while we were outside, we tried to get the attention of the two people at the window but they continue to talk to each other even after looking at us and then one walked away. You can have beer AND ice cream at the same time? 4 beers and 4 different scoops for $16?! Say no more! We heard The STIL is a must-visit ice cream place when visiting Boise and it did not disappoint! We came here for an afternoon cool down snack after spending 3 hour biking in the sun on the Green Belt. It was the perfect in-between meals snack. The people serving us were super helpful and knowledgeable and made great recommendations! There were so many to choose from it could be a little overwhelming if you have a hard time making decisions lol but luckily when we went (on a Thursday afternoon) we were able to spend more time with on one else behind us to pressure us. I got 2 of the dairy-free & vegan ice cream flavors and they were still creamy and flavorful! I didn't feel like I was missing out at all! The Hubby doubled-down on beers and booze-infused ice cream flavors, he really enjoyed everything! I'm also glad they wrote down the name of the drink and flavors on the flight (under the cups) since I'm pregnant I didn't want to accidentally eat the boozy ones lol! I overheard that they don't unfortunately don't give out samples to let you try, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with any flavor here . Being curious since they opened this in Fall'ish 2024 and finding myself in the neighborhood, this was a destination stop for my husband and me when we went in about 11:30 on a weekday for coffee and a nosh. Pride of ownership shines in the clean and funky feeling interior and it is clearly popular because it was full, almost every seat, of people that seemed from the neighborhood, including a number of parents with young children. They advertise this as coffee and market, but I honestly didn't notice the market part, in that things for sale didn't jump out at me. That may have been because I was just trying to navigate to a seat in and out in the crowded space. THE MO: Coffee and the limited menu for food is ordered at the counter, carry to your seat and bus your own when finished. Although we were the only people at the counter and there were two people in the kitchen, it took quite some time for someone to come to take the order, although once someone finally saw us, they were pleasant, if not welcoming, in taking the coffee order and then again when my hubby went back to order pastries to go with it. MENU: Coffee, other beverages and a very small option of eats is listed behind the counter and on a paper menu there. Options included soup of the day and Gaston's bakery pastries. There were some breakfast sandwiches by local provider Poppyseed Bakery in the fridge section, we weren't told about them but seeing them when passing by the fridge on a trip to the loo, asked if they could be heated and were told they could be. We chose a couple of pastries ($5.50 each) and were reminded why we seldom buy Gaston's products for being too buttery and one note. The cortado ($4) were good. I noticed a woman at the table across from us who was sipping a beverage and eating what looked like a sandwich she had carried in. I don't know if that is part of allowable stuff or not. The pottery used for all of their coffee service, ours and the mugs at other tables, is great. AMBIANCE: They did an admirable job here of making this light and bright and just funky enough with pride of ownership and loving care in maintenance sparkling through. Seating includes a few level in, not step up, booths along one wall, a sofa and chairs near the front and many standard height tables and chairs (maybe too many when all full as getting to seat is tough) and a play area for kids in the corner. It had far less comfortable 'breathing room' space than I anticipated from photos. But I didn't take interior photos to post because I think it is rude to do that when lots of people are going to be in them who maybe don't want to be. ;-) LOO: There are two and both are uni and sparkling clean with great murals on the wall and good plumbing fixtures. My husband even pointed out the "cool" sink. Both are ADA compliant so kudos to them for that. (Yes, it is law and code but you'd be astounded by how many ignore both.) ACCESSIBILITY: One ADA parking spot right outside the door. (There are too few spots for the parking lot but that is not the coffee shop owners' failure. That is the lot owner's issue.) Level in the door. All on one floor. The tables would probably work for a wheelchair user to roll under. But it would be near impossible, based on my experience yesterday (I have had multiple sclerosis since age 20 and sometimes use a wheelchair) for a wheelchair user to get between tables and chairs for a clear path of travel to get to seating or the loo.

With a revised and bit expanded menu and a new young Chef in the kitchen, formerly Executive Chef at a Portland area McMenamins, this was a unique little gem before and the changes have polished it even brighter. This time we enjoyed being able to try new menu items like green salad with Delicata squash and herbed goat cheese (half order $7.50), house made pappardelle with braised lamb Bolognese ($18) and mushroom Marsala on polenta ($13). As a great new surprise on the wine menu, manager Gina Sturiale (daughter of Rita) has added a really good white and red wine by the glass, like the nice Negroamaro my husband enjoyed, for as little as $5! The menu spans options from soup through appetizers and starter or main course sized salads through entrees to desserts. Prices range from $6 to $18. Total inside seating is limited to maybe 16 and maybe about that many on an outside deck. So this is not a place for big groups. It is likely not a kids' destination either. To start, I tried the Pickletini. As a fan of pickle-forward drinks, I found it "not bad"--a solid choice if you enjoy that briny profile. My fiancé opted for the All Ways Down Double IPA flight. At 9% ABV, it was a heavy hitter, but he really enjoyed the intense hop aroma and flavor provided by the Cryo Hops. For my main, I ordered the TNT Sando (Tri-Tip with bacon jam and garlic aioli) on Gaston's grilled focaccia. I requested it without pickles, and it was excellent. I paired it with the Black Bean and Veggie soup, which was a standout--perfectly delicious with a nice "zing" to it. Unfortunately, the meal hit a significant snag with my fiancé's Fish & Chips. The beer and cornmeal tempura batter was extremely thick (nearly 3/4 of an inch in some spots) and the fish was overcooked. Additionally, the blue cheese dressing on his side salad was very runny and tasted off. It was disappointing enough that we had to send it back. We replaced it with The Spicy Italian pizza. This was a total 180--it arrived looking beautiful, and the combination of the meats, pepperoncinis, and hot honey was absolutely delicious. Our server, Casey P., was generally good and attentive, though we did have to wait to start our meal because we weren't initially provided with napkins or silverware. A minor note on the atmosphere: the table we were seated at had "gay" carved into the wood, which felt a bit out of place for the professional vibe of the rest of the establishment. Overall, the TNT Sando, the pizza, and the beers are worth coming back for, but the kitchen consistency on the fried items definitely needs some work.

It was perfectly frosted and hearty. It looked like the perfect pastry to grab for him. I got my cinnamon roll all boxed up and was excited to bring it home to the hubby.
