He was thorough and explained my options on various deficiencies, some of which were due to building standards having been different when the house was built (e.g., less vents in roof and soffits so more moisture in the attic). We used MK home inspections to inspect a property we were interested in. Mike was a seasoned professional with a construction background that was very useful in gauging damage and quality of the structure. I was impressed of his ability to go above and beyond. Although it was wet from the rain he still brought his ladder and got on the roof that was 4 stories. From afar the roof had some moss showing which could mean a huge expense pending on how bad the damage was, however, from his inspection on the roof he was able to determine some annual maintenance would be sufficient. His pricing was very fair. He explained the issues and what it would take to repair. Provided some DIY guidance and general estimates on costs. He also provided a detailed analysis of the inspection in less than 4 hours. The inspection only took 2 hours and we went from the roof all the way to the foundation of the garage. As a first time home buyer, my husband and I have been very hesitant during the whole process. Our realtor recommended Mike with MK Inspections to be our home inspector. Our realtor recommended Mike at MK Home Inspections to do a home inspection on a house we were considering buying. Mike did a very thorough and complete inspection of the house inside, outside, underneath in the crawl space, and above in the attic. He stayed after the inspection to point out and explain the general problems he had found with the house and to answer our related questions about what he had found to be a concern. He also pointed out the many plus features of the house so that we did not feel overwhelmed by what needed to be fixed. Mike emailed us a very detailed inspection report with numerous photographs of the problem areas the evening of the inspection. Considering that the report was 37 pages long and included a very comprehensive 12 page summary we were quite impressed to have the report in hand so quickly. After reading over the report we had several questions that we emailed to Mike over the next few days and each time Mike had answers to us almost immediately. We proceeded to make an offer on the house that was based on the sellers completing some of the fixes that were needed. After seller completion of the designated repairs we had Mike out to do a follow-up inspection (for a very minimal charge) and he found items that the seller claimed were fixed but in actuality had been missed entirely. We were able to update our offer to ensure that the repairs were done to our satisfaction based on Mike's additional information.
