I did a soak-off while the he was waiting for his client to respond back and thankfully they agreed to be moved back to 11am (thanks Terrie!) So happy I gave this place a try. There were only 3 techs working when I went in, and even though it was quiet, each tech was with someone and it seemed like a solid team and work environment. My tech, maybe his name is Ky?, he was amazing. Super fun to talk to and easy going, I'm not rlly one to talk but he was asking all the questions and being funny and making me feel right at home. I had a really good experience, plus my nails turned out freaking bomb It was my first gel-x set because I was tired of how thick acrylic sets can be and how the color on them often chips/scratches off. Ky paid such great attention to detail, checking the underside of my nails after polishing them to make sure they were neat all the way around and periodically asking if I was satisfied with how they looked. We actually arrived 30 minutes early just because we could and were seated fairly quickly. The water in my tub was much too warm and I told the girl to make it cooler. I'm not sure if she didn't understand, but it didn't get cooler, so I asked again. It STILL didn't get cooler. Ugh. We sat in chairs at 4:04 and we were out of there by 4:42. While the polish looks fine and it was generally an overall "fine" experience, it just didn't stand out to me and we expected the massage parts to take longer. She didn't even massage my feet. The massage chair was my least favorite part; felt like I was riding a roller coaster or something. The control panel was whacked! I think the cleanliness of the salon is lacking as well. There were hair particles on the chairs and on the counter when I went to pay. Yuck. I've already got a dedicated nail place in VB, so I'll stick with that one.

I stayed with Davina at Devinn Nail Bar for nearly two years because it was convenient to my house and they could do the simple nail art I liked. Looking back, that was a huge mistake. They butchered my nails. Every single appointment was painful. I repeatedly told them they were hurting me while filing, and every time I was told to "relax." I trusted that maybe this was normal because they were the professionals. It wasn't. I finally went to a new salon, and the nail technician was shocked when she examined my nails. She told me this was one of the worst over-filed sets she had seen in her career. The techs at Devinn nail bar had not only over-filed my nails every time, but had filed deep grooves into my natural nail plates. Every fill left visible gouges in my actual nails. Because of the damage, my nails are now lifting from the nail bed. I've been told I need to remove my nails completely and take a long break to give them the best chance to heal. Recovery is expected to take many months, and there is no guarantee they'll return to normal. This is on top of being treated rudely, long wait times, constantly increasing prices, being confronted by management over my honest review, and being treated differently after I expressed concerns. I regret staying as long as I did. If I had known the long-term damage being done every time I sat in that chair, I would have left a long time ago!

Once I arrived, however, the experience exceeded my expectations. The live piano player created a relaxing and unique atmosphere that I wasn't expecting and truly appreciated. I was told to pic a color, but, I have to be honest here, there was really no choice to make for me. They had very dull color choices and not very many which totally surprised me. I kept saying that nothing was interesting to me. Anyhow, finally decided (all the while being not happy with color). Might I add that this was the most expensive pedicure that I ever paid for and I have traveled all over the world. It was so basic, they don't even trim up the cuticles around the nail, they do nothing to the areas around the nails. NEVER had that happen before. They look horrible to me. The manicurist did not go in order of file all nails consistently, and he was too gentle with removing cuticles and did not do a though job of removing all the old cuticles. The manicurist was not straight with the painting and he missed the sides. I actually had to borrow the nail polish and do it myself. Then, the owner came over and did not do much better at all. Really the same quality which was poor. She could not remove all the old paying so I actually had to remove it myself. WHAT AM I PAYING FOOR WHEN I AM DOING THE WORK. The second manicurist said "we don't do that here " referring to taking off the polish. WHAT?!?!? I never heard of such a thing. Poor workmanship from two employees and the same poor attitude to the customer. They clearly wanted it to be done quickly so they could make $ from the next customer. Everyone is in your wallet these days without caring for the quality of work. Believe me, I am not a fussy person but I do like my nail polish put on with some accuracy. Please DO NOT GO HERE.
