This is a review for my experience at Moab Eyecare and Dr. Colin Hunsaker a couple of months ago…read more I came up with a strange eye problem while I was on a vacation trip to Moab, and considered it urgent to see an eye specialist as soon as possible. I called Moab Eyecare, and they told me someone could see me if I could come down right away. I did. After filling out paperwork, within 15 minutes of my arrival, I was called into an exam room and seen by Dr. Hunsaker. He did an incredibly detailed examination, told me that nothing obvious was wrong, and confirmed that it would be OK to continue our journey, even though a flight was involved. Two months later, I had a relapse of the problem at home. I called Moab Eyecare and spoke to Jenny to see if I could get Dr. Hunsaker's exam record in advance of an appointment with my ophthalmologist here. There was no long wait on the phone (as there often is at my own eye doctor!), and Jenny was extremely pleasant and helpful. Within 5 minutes, I had the exam record in my email inbox. What more could you ask for from an optometrist - an office staff that understands urgency and gets you in as quickly as they can, an extremely thorough exam by a competent professional, using some of the most advanced optometric equipment I've ever seen, and a super-helpful, professional staff that would help out an out-of-towner after the fact in a friendly, kind, and timely fashion. Thank you, everyone at Moab Eyecare!

Oh honey... buckle in, because this one deserves a slow clap and a bombastic side-eye…read more So my daughter decided to trust EyeMart Express in Grand Junction, bold choice, apparently. We did not know she was offering herself up as tribute. What followed? An absolute Insurance Hunger Games: Optical Edition. Let's start with the basics: she needed a simple list of benefits faxed directly from her insurance. Standard. Normal. Happens every day. Meanwhile, her husband waltzes into another EyeMart Express location like it's a VIP lounge, appointment, exam, glasses, DONE the same day. Efficiency? We love to see it... just not here, apparently. Now this location? Oh no, they said the doctor doesn't take her insurance. Fine. Annoying, but fine, out of pocket it is. But tell me why EVERYTHING ELSE also fell apart like a clearance rack sandal? Enter: the sales clerk. Suspicious. Unhelpful. Acting like my daughter was trying to commit identity fraud just to get a pair of frames. Claimed the insurance company had "no record of her." None. Zero. Vanished into the void. Meanwhile*plot twist*my daughter can literally pull up her info on the portal, and so can her husband. It's magggggicccc! So my daughter, being more patient than I would've been, asks, "Hey... what number are you calling?" Turns out... wrong number. WRONG. NUMBER. And instead of, I don't know, fixing it? Calling the correct one? Doing literally the bare minimum? Miss Thing says she'll just "keep trying." Keep trying WHAT, sunshine?? Dialing into the abyss?? Communicating with spirits?? At this point it's less customer service and more performance art. Angel baby... figure it out. Service: zero. Effort: negative. Vibes: aggressively unhelpful. I'm giving this location 1 star with a full-body sneer. Grand Junction, do better. Side note hats off to the FOCO location who graciously offered to help us out of the debacle. Girrrlll, we love a timely rescue. We will allow the cape this time.

I have been going to Dr. Hicks for several years. I purchased a set of Oakley's with a two-year…read morelens replacement warranty on them before she moved to Eyemart. The lenses that I got from her are scratched and I informed her that I needed a new pair of lenses, and Dr. Hicks says that her warranty is not gonna cover them anymore since she moved. I went in to get my eye exam at Eyemart where Dr. Hicks is now working. I got my eye exam and some new glasses with the lenses and the lenses were killing my eyes. So I went back in to let Dr. Hicks know that the prescription she gave me was not working for me. Dr. Hicks told me that it's Eyemart's problem, not hers and then drop me as a patient. I personally would not recommend Dr. Hicks to anybody in the Grand Valley. So in short do not go to Dr. Hicks or trust her medical abilities for eyeglasses. No wonder why her partners didn't want to work with her anymore at the old place!!!

I give Doctor Holt 5-STARS since he is extremely kind and qualified. However, ICON appointment…read morescheduling is pretty awful for both the patient and doctor, so I give them 1-STAR. I have been a regular patient at ICON for about 4 years and it is not uncommon to find patients being over-booked or even double-booked for the exact same appointment times. This results in SUPER long wait times-as in waiting over 2 hours before even seeing the doctor. Doctor Holt seamlessly blends deep clinical expertise with high emotional intelligence. He communicates well, listens intently, and treats the whole patient with kindness and respect. And I believe he actually loves his job! However, witnessing the breakneck speed at which he must move between his patients is painful. Burnout in physicians is real. I hate to think that one day Doctor Holt may find himself both physically and emotionally exhausted because the thing he loved, the thing he was SO good at, no longer holds meaning. It is my impression that Dr. Holt is an 'on-staff' employee of ICON Eyecare-a corporation that obviously views their patients as 'time-slots' and 'revenue' AND their physicians as 'workhorses'. If this is the case, it screams profit over people which is both wasteful and stupid. The demand for good eye care is obviously high in Grand Junction, so given the backlog of patients why doesn't ICON Eyecare hire another doctor to assist Dr. Holt with his workload?
