We spent 4 hours here with 7 and 4 year old kids. We loved it! Especially the outdoor park area and the outdoor walk adventure where you see the dinosaurs. My kids loved digging for bones. We watched the two movies which were fun, though the T-Rex one was a bit violent for young kids...and did the aquarium - that freaked my 4 year old out at the end, but he was okay and it was fun. The only letdown was the actually museum, it was kinda lame. Should have made it more kid friendly and fun. It was a bit boring. Need skeleton models and more excitement. This was our second visit here, but it had been many years since our last time. It was just as we remembered and they had added a few dinosaurs to the outdoor display. Our kids had a great time despite the heat. Definitely go early on the hot days. They had a couple spots along the trail with misters, which was a nice addition and provided some needed relief from the heat. We only did the outdoor portion and spent about 1.5-2 hours there. On a cooler day the kids would have definitely spent more time on the playground. We spent $60 for our family of 6 to get in. It is a fun spot to stop at if you have Dino fans in the family. We had passed this museum/park so many times driving to hikes outside of Moab and the dinosaur replicas in the field caught our attention from the first time we passed and we eventually made the leap and went in despite the expensive prices. We got the VIP pass which was about $30 and we got access to the theater and the prehistoric aquarium, both of which had repeating shows every 30/45 minutes. We went to the 5D aquarium experience which was very cool and fun and not too long. The dinosaur trail was long with details about all of the different creatures and their tracks and followed a chronological route through the prehistoric periods. The museum, although small was also very cool but by the time we got there we were very tired and didn't end up reading everything. There was also a simulation but it was closed which we were bummed about. Very family friendly with a wide variety of activities, overall fun but pretty pricey which makes it inaccessible. read more

This was a highlight of our trip to Moab. I really thought from the outside of this place that it was mainly for kids. However, the museum is really somewhat oriented in the presentations to adults with researchers presenting results from scientific studies on dinosaur tracks much in the same way they probably did in their scientific papers. I found it really interesting, but it does take a little time & understanding to absorb. There are interactive presentations & models that are fun for kids, but the readings panels are mostly beyond a kid's level. I really enjoyed how the researchers presented their analysis & theories of how the dinosaurs looked & evolved from their excavations & investigating of tracks. The outside areas with dinosaur models is great for kids, but also has great information on different kinds of dinosaurs & fun facts about what they ate, how fast they ran & where they lived. I was really surprised that the museum is really only open during the hottest times of the day 10am to 6pm in summer. There was a crowd wanting to go in at 5pm, but they didn't offer discounts to try to go in for just the last hour. A lot of the kids are just tiny & the outdoor area is a pretty big loop with little shade. I think they could really make money extending hours to the cooler part of the day. When we did come back the next morning, there were a decent numbers of families though. We visited the restaurant & ordered 2 big salads. They were made fresh & delicious. Free refills on soda after the morning in the yard. We went in the gift shop & bought some cute dinosaur-themed items. I do also want to mention that just down the road (& not associated with this or any park) are some pictographs & petroglyphs (look up intestine man). Those were really great too. This stop though at Moab Giants was great. It's the best dinosaur museum I've ever seen & I learned a ton. read more

What a great spot to stop for all Dinosaurs lovers and not. Our family of a 12 and 15 year old absolutely loved this place. The fun walk and learn about life size dinosaurs and dinosaurs tracks was really cool and the back ground of the beautiful mountains. (It was overcast so it made it even better) on the hot summer day. The movies both dinosaurs alive and trex were very interesting and fun to watch. They did a good job producing the shows with actual education with a mixture of fun 3D. Our favorite part was the 5D walk around Aquarium. We went to Moab Giants with a bit of trepidation. It looks so touristy. We've been to places much more so, so don't let that deter you. You don't even have to go through the gift shop! The employees were very friendly and the scientists especially so. They even have tracks from pre dinosaur age! We started in the museum which has videos of what dinosaurs may have looked like and how they walked. They were informative about how they left tracks and how the tracks calcified and were found. Kids would love the interactive displays, and all enjoy the dinosaur displays. It's a small museum but packed with lots of information. We watched the 2 movies offered, one on dinosaurs in general and one on T-Rex. Both are fairly new, has great graphics, and about 20 minutes long. The woman running them is friendly and easy to understand. We enjoyed T-Rex more but both are worthwhile. The aquarium requires 3d glasses (provided) and akin to seeing live animals in an actual aquarium. They were quite entertaining. The docent must be new at his job. He read the descriptions of each off a page too fast, too quietly, and too incoherent. Please slow down and speak distinctly. After an ice cream in the cafe (dairy and egg free options available) we went on the dinosaur walk. It's an easy hike along a gentle, sometimes sandy path. I highly recommend it! We enjoyed it and certainly dinosaur lovers would also. Maybe a couple dozen large statues of a variety of dinosaurs. Amazing artistry. We probably stayed at Moab Giants for about 3 hours. We were super excited to visit this business as our kids are die hard dinosaur fans. The cost is a bit high but I guess there isn't much to do like this is moab. The outside life size dinosaurs were super cool, but sadly for us that is where it ended. The 4d aquarium was closed which we found out when we got there so that sucks. This is a cute gem before arriving to Moab. Its not that big but it gives you and idea of how the dinosaurs looked and how big they were!! They let me walk around with drinks while you take pictures and learn The history!!! They have a gift shop and a cafe..we came in while they were closing and not once did i feel like they were kicking us out of the cafe the food was amazing the hamburgers were delicious. I finally got around to visiting this quirky place and I'm so glad I did. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't what I found. I didn't plan enough time, and had to be hustled out at closing. Half a day is a good strategy, but you could take even longer to just linger in a very cool place. Probably best to think of this as a dinosaur themed "mall" or amusement park. You park outside, then (with the correct pass) wander around visiting or just hanging out at the restaurant, museum, observation tower, playground, theatre, 3D aquarium, walking trail, and other attractions. The theatre is a good place to start for an excellent film introduction to the place...and the universe. Check the show times and coordinate with the times for the 3D aquarium--everything else can be done on your schedule. The "aquarium" is also surprisingly cool, with backgrounds that include era-appropriate corals and smaller animals as well as the charismatic large sharks and ichthyosaurs. But the stars of the whole show are the gorgeous dinosaur reproductions, made startlingly lifelike by skilled Polish artisans from scientific models. Though most of the animals represented lived in more tropical habitats, the introductory film tells us that dinosaurs occurred in all environments, including arid deserts like Moab. This helps you suspend disbelief as you suddenly encounter a seemingly startled bright-eyed Dino behind a bush as you walk the trail through time. These models are truly stunning. There's an interesting tradition in Europe of studying the past by doing, as well as just observing. For instance, archaeologists have created Gladiator schools, and fashion factories to learn by trying to replicate the past. It feels like Moab Giants is designed in the same vein, with working paleontologists in the back, and the models helping you understand the diversity of dinosaur evolution as you observe morphological variations, especially of the often crazy feet that left us fossilized tracks. The park does seem to be very personal, largely focusing on the work of the founders, Drs. Gerard Gerlinski and Martin Lockwood who actually did paleontological field work while camped at this site back in the day (there's a mock-up of their Indiana Jones-style camp in the playground). The two also feature prominently in the museum's multimedia. Gerlinski and Lockwood specialize in ichnology: the study of dinosaur tracks. The park heavily emphasizes this focus, even suggesting sites in the Moab area where you can visit real tracks. Perhaps it's a little too personal? For instance, maybe I missed it in my hurried visit, but there's no mention of one of the most astounding bits of knowledge gleaned from dinosaur trackways, though not by these scientists: that the animals were warm-blooded (learned through analysis of predator : prey ratios and stride-length). It also appears that the non-native English speaking scientists wrote all the text and voice-over. Let's just say that they probably should have hired a proof reader to correct the grammar errors. Another semi-criticism is that it's not always clear when you are looking at a real fossil vs. a reproduction here. Maybe it doesn't matter? But there appear to be real tracks in the playground, with kids scrambling all over them. But these are just quibbles. It's a thought-provoking place for curious adults, not just Dino-crazed kids. And it's an excellent pivot on the "Dinosaur Diamond" to contrast with the Natural History Museum in Vernal. read more

We really like this place, drove about 8 hours to get here because the last time we were here 4 years ago the kids had a blast. I checked online on Yelp and the park clearly states that they were open to 6pm on January 23rd, nope all closed, all the signs on the door had no opening times so no chance to plan tomorrow. If they are to incompetent to keep opening hours up to date they don't deserve any loyal customers. We are done here. read more

We had no idea this place even existed until we saw a life-sized T-Rex off the freeway on the way into Moab. What a great way to get people's attention! On the way out of Canyonlands, we figured we would stop in to check it out. As we looped around the park, we were amazed at how detailed and lifelike the dinosaurs were. Apparently they have roughly 100 dinosaurs on display. Our visit here was quick since it was absolutely BAKING outside, but we took some great pictures which led to some great laughs, learned a few things, and cooled off in the gift shop which had AC. If you have kids that are into dinosaurs, this is absolutely a MUST SEE attraction. We would have never guessed that in a trip to Arches and Canyonlands, the thing we would remember most was our random trip to Moab Giants. read more

Moab Giants is more like a dinosaur expedition than a museum. The main portion is a trail (stroller/wheelchair friendly) where you come across dinosaurs positioned in fun ways as you walk. Each species has a little sign that gives some details about them, and perfect photo ops from every angle! Plus, there are a couple of big dig sites that little kids can really enjoy. It costs extra to go to the aquarium part, but with general admission you can go inside the small indoor museum section. There are a couple of fossils in there, but the main appeal is the videos all over showing different principles like how fossils are formed, or interviews with archaeologists around the world talking about their work. You're not going to see many real dinosaur bones or many ultra-educational elements, but it's a super fun, Dino-immersive activity that can keep the whole family happy for hours! read more

Really amazing fun for all ages. There's a dinosaur discovery walk that is as fast or slow as you want to go in a loop. There are great photo ops and interactive activities spread around: some to touch, some to climb on, some to observe, some to dig in. There is a prehistoric "aquarium" with beautiful, imagined species in a virtual water environment. The Megalodon ending with a lightly thrilling simulated jumpscare is well explained so anyone (young or old) who might be frightened can easily skip that part. The gift shop and snack restaurant are nice. The museum is challengingly interesting for dino buffs but not so intimidating in scope or size to turn off those with shorter attention spans. The scientists behind the research glass will wave you inside with warmth and welcome, a wholesome touch to further engage and cultivate interest in young STEM minds. read more

Moab Giants is a fun oasis for dino-philes. As it's mostly outdoors, plan accordingly. The base ticket price ($18/person) allows you into the tiny museum featuring videos but you have to pay extra to see the 5D aquarium ($6/person) or the 10 minute 3D movie which doesn't spend much time on the dinosaurs (another $6/person). The fun is in walking the trail, reading the informational signs, and taking pictures with the life-sized dinosaurs. There is a cute little "dig site" for kids which is partially shaded. Because we were keeping toddlers happy and talking LOTS of photos, we meandering along the trail for about an hour. While not as educational as a natural history museum, seeing the life-sized dinosaurs on the trail is enjoyable. We should've been able to go for more than one day. For that price it should be for the month or for the week. Mine and a couple others were constantly flickering and going blank making it very hard to see, giving me a headache. "5d" video effects were horrific *this needs to be fixed! Also, I could not hear the tour guide. There also needs to be warning signs at the end of the walking attraction to see the megladon. The floor jolts unexpectedly which is really asking for a lawsuit. The babies were also terrified. Theater: Very short 10 minute film. Again glasses need major servicing so does the 3d effects. I was seeing two people when the gentleman was talking on the screen. Also it was a little difficult to hear him. The levels of the film need to be adjusted. Water: The water fountains around the park tasted like metal. However, I do know we are in the desert and the filtration systems might not be as great. Park closes at six at 4:55pm. We tried getting tickets and the doors were closed and locked. Tried calling and some poor excuse of a customer service rep answered and pretty much told us, we are welcome to buy a ticket and checkout the gift shop. But the park was off limits. If I was the owner things would be a whole lot different and I'd be trying to sell 7 adult tickets and 2 children for just one hour in the park. Informative plaques about the kind of dinosaurs on display are found at each dinosaur "gathering." There is also a kids play area and an indoor aquarium. My husband and I thought this would be a good fun outdoor adventure before setting off to our next destination. The cashier who we bought tickets from seemed bored with her job. Like she didn't want to be there. Pros: The 1/2 mile dinosaur track was fun and full of interesting facts about each dinosaur. The museum was small and some of the touch videos didn't work. But it was a nice cool down. Cons: Service dog handlers beware. The cafe tried to segregate us from the other patrons. Basically saying the kitchen extended to the dining area and we were told we needed to stay in the back. They were not listening to us trying to explain the ADA federal laws. She was adamant that we could not sit just anywhere. We were going to get food but with their attitude towards us we chose to go elsewhere. Recommended? The trail and museum yes. Cafe hard no. We got really lucky with the weather, the dinosaur journey was fantastic! A real Eye-opener. Moab Giants made the dinosuars lifesize, so it was really easy to imagine the dinosaurs roaming on this earth. the Journey is broken up into the different periods. i think the journey, which is an outdoor walk is about 1 mile. The walk also provides an opportunity to get up and close to the dinosaurs, there are sections in the fence to allow visitors. it is a nice stroll with weather permitting. It is not possible to have shades because the wind is very gusty. the 3-D aquarium was really well done. It was a live audio tour. We are a family of 5, so we did the VIP, well worth the price. Don't forget to stop by the Musuem, for more foundational information like how the tracks are preserved and why Moab Giants is located in this specific spot. We would go again. read more

We were just driving by and came across Moab Giants. Price was a bit much. It was hot but I suppose that is expected during the month of July. Staff very friendly. There is even a cafe and ice cream next store. The dinosaurs looked realistic! Great dinosaur pictures and a nice short trail. I am glad we did it. I'm not really sure how to describe this place, other than an indoor and outdoor dinosaur attraction with a small gift shop and cafe north of Moab. We went for the full experience with no kids. The facility is very clean. It consists of two 3d experiences, a museum area and a trail of life size dinos. Being there in October, it wasn't too hot for outside, so a big chunk of time was walking the trail. There are a few places along the way where you can stand next to one for a selfie if you want. A information card is located with all of them. I felt the 3d movie was a bit cheesy, especially the narrator. The "aquarium" is a "5d" experience. In the musuem, there were some interactive displays, but we couldn't get many of them to work, so I wasn't too impressed with it. It wasn't really busy when we went. We did have fun. read more

It was somewhere between a strong 4 star or a weak 5 star. I am including the quality of the food at their cafe as part of the review so let's call it a strong 4. If you are not a dinosaur geek or you don't have younger kids I don't think you would bother stopping here. If it weren't for my 2 year old grandson who finds anything the size of their dinosaur recreations interesting, I would have kept driving. It is very clean and well designed. The outdoor display was interesting and the dinosaur recreations were actually well done. It was interesting to read the information on each creature and to think of how thankful I was they were wiped off the earth before man had to deal with these carnivorous pain in the butts. The 3D indoor aquarium was interesting as was their small museum. The cafe service was slow and disorganized but that was likely due to the COVID restrictions they had to work with. The food however, was good and considering there are no other food places for a few miles you aren't giving up anything by having lunch here. Overall it was a nice break from driving to the different local parks and especially if you have young children, you could easily kill an hour or more exploring here. read more

This is a good stop to kill a few hours if you're passing by. I know it's supposed to be a children's museum but they lost interest quickly while us older guys liked it. There's only one thing that really bugged me here which nobody else would probably even care about and that's the sloppy way the paleo camp tents were built. The wood structure isn't period correct wood and the galvanized lath screws holding the canvas down definitely are not either. Also, 1.5" screws into .75" boards so half the screw is sticking out on the inside of the tent? Everywhere inside? Seriously? I know it sounds weird but seeing that ruined it for me. Demolish the paleo camp tents and start over. Other than that, nice job on the park. read more

Attended this place with a 3.5 year old. It is pretty expensive (over $70.00 for 3 adults and the kiddo was free for the outdoor area and the "aquarium" event which is really a 7 minute 3D walk through some screens and a final short show in a separate room). Please be warned the last part of the "aquarium" was far too scary for a small child. He had little 3D glasses on, and liked the first part but then the final scene was basically made it seem like a shark was breaking through the glass at us repeatedly. We should have just exited, but didn't know how intense it would be. There was no warning about this (the guidelines only said kids under 10 needed an adult with them). read more

Came here with my family and they are not enforcing their posted covid restrictions. They have their cafe entirely closed due to the pandemic, and yet they tried to pack us into their theaters with a ton of maskless tourists, over the normal capacity of the postings. What: indoor and outdoor dinosaur museum. The best part is the outside trail that is about 1/2 mile long dotted with tons of very realistic looking dinosaurs. They progressively get bigger as you walk the trail to the finale of the humongous T-Rex. There is also explanatory signage along the way. There is a very good. 3D movie explaining the beginning of life, how the solar system evolved and all the Earth life prior to the dinosaurs. In another building is a walk through 3D "aquarium" which is a guided tour and as you get to each "tank" the guide explains the sea creature, how big it was, what it ate and how it became extinct. It ends with a fun motion simulation shark attack that may be too scary for little kids. My 11 year old liked it. Cost: $22 for adults, $16 for kids. I wish they would offer AAA discount but they don't anymore for some reason. Great way to kill 2 hours and very educational. read more

This place is simply amazing. The outdoor walk around to view the life sized dinosaurs was wonderful-I LOVED it. They even open up portions of it so you can get close up to some of the individual replicas and pose with them for photos, and check out how cool they are close up. But-the best part was the indoor aqua dino aquarium. Holy cow, that is realistic. They give you 3-D glasses, and you then walk around with a guide and he tells you about each creature as if it really as being kept in these huge tanks. They look amazing, and me and the two adults I was with absolutely thought it was amazing. The actual 'museum' was a bit of a disappointment, as there is nothing 'real'. All replicas of fossils and bones. I was pretty disappointed with that portion, but the rest really made up for it. We even had a load of fun with the dinosaur wagons and the dino replica head that you can crawl into and take photos, as if he was eating you. We did not have a ton of time, so, we buzzed through here in under two hours. But if you are with kids, I am sure you can make a day of this. So glad we did this. read more
