Booked through the Chase travel portal. Excellent service, great all female crew. Very relaxing to be around. I did the turtle canyon snorkeling cruise. We saw about 7 turtles when they came up for air and then dive back down. The snorkeling was unsatisfying though because it was too murky due to the trade winds to see the beautiful reef the turtles were diving down to or the fish. So you will see turtles but you could just watch from the boat. That being said the boat ride was very relaxing and we sailed for awhile before coming back to harbor. They made an excellent pina colada and I enjoyed a nap in the sunshine on the way back. They have restrooms for number one only which were easy to use. No toilet paper in the toilet. The family took a "sunset cruise" with Moana Sailing and it was wonderfully relaxing. The four person crew was confident and competent in handling the sails. A little past Diamond Head, the ocean waves were making the ride a little too rough (i.e. not relaxing,) so the crew brought the boat around for a slow return past Waikiki under reduced sail instead of the original plan of proceeding farther beyond Diamond Head. When not required for handling the boat, the crew was very attentive to the passengers. The boat was well stocked with beverages, including juices for the kids. The crew was especially attentive and respectful of the needs of the kids on board. read more

I also wanted to point out that prior to this there was an error in booking w/o being notified about the cancellation but all is well and we understand that it can happen. They canceled the tour last minute, when they had 20 passengers waiting. The passengers made it on time, but the Captain couldn't and he therefore decided to cancel. I don't recommend them. read more

When you have a national weather alert on your phone in the morning and you have a scheduled event in the afternoon, you'll get initially worried. My daughter-in-law confirmed with Moana Sailing it was still a go, so my husband and I trusted Moana Sailing especially when we love to fish (even though this wasn't a fishing excursion) in the rain while in Alaska. Location is easy to find. They're located in the back at Pier D in the Kewalo Basin area. Prior to boarding, we were greeted and signed a waiver. Once boarded, Bella introduced herself along with the rest of the crew who were also lifeguards and went over safety rules. Very efficient, friendly and engaging. When we anchored, they were all situated to watch everyone as we swam around. (Note: They have floaties and life vests for use) You're able to bring food but they also have a bar for non-alcoholic or alcoholic drinks (the prices were pretty reasonable for a charter company). The weather conditions were great despite 80% cloud cover because the Sun did come out! The sailing back to the pier was peaceful. Overall, great experience for anyone looking for a reasonable priced water activity to do while visiting or doing a staycation "playing tourist". Highly recommended read more

Booked this tour on the Chase Portal website & had no problems! We booked the 5pm sunset tour and made sure to get there a little early so we had time to find and walk to the correct pier. The staff collected our shoes before boarding and locked them up to keep them safe. the boat is big enough to allow all passengers to walk around comfortably, and had lots of seating available too! the bathroom on deck was comfortable and clean. there was also netting near the front of the ship that you can sit on. the drinks were fine- the first drink was complimentary and the rest were $8. the crew was quick with taking drink orders, helped take pictures of their guests, played great music, and made the experience nice and fun. we even came across some dolphins on our tour!! the boat drives towards Diamond Head which allows you to get a gorgeous view of Waikiki. This was a wonderful experience- i'd be happy to book again in the future. note: if you're sitting at the front of the boat, be ready to get soaked by the ocean at some point! read more

Moana Sailing was the highlight of my Hawaii trip! It was my first time snorkeling and I had such a great time. The employees were very kind and helpful. They walked us through all of the steps of putting on the gear and using the snorkeling mask. The trip consisted of ~1.5 hours of snorkeling and then boat took us to Diamond Head and back. When we reached the snorkeling area they always pointed out where the turtles, fish and coral reefs are so we could swim to them. They were readily available in case people needed help. The ride itself was very smooth sailing and you also can get a complimentary cocktail to enjoy after snorkeling. Very fun experience!! read more

A relaxing barefoot sunset cruise with great Mai Tais. I liked that they started at a marina where you left your shoes at the dock and then entered the boat versus the ones that launch from the beach where you have to enter the water, get wet, sandy and climb up steep steps or a ladder. We were treated to multiple rainbows with a lovely sunset, and great downtown Honolulu, Waikiki beach hotels & Diamond Head views. Plenty of seats and room to walk around to get different views. We had some visitors come in from out of town and thought they'd love to do something fun and a little touristy. We were originally looking at the cruises with an open bar, but this tour allowed us to swim for a bit longer and had drinks for sale on the ship too. Drinks were like $8 and did the trick. It's bring your own food, so bring snacks if you'd like. The captain was very friendly as well as the two girls on staff. Heads up, on the initial ride to the swimming location, the boat goes very quickly, so there are large sprays that will completely soak you if you are in the benches in the front. On the way back, we made sure not to sit in the front as we wanted to ensure we were dry by the time we got back. To our surprise, we took a leisurely stroll back to the harbor, with no one sitting in the front even getting a splash of water on them. Goggles are allowed, but not snorkel masks, or any goggles that cover the nose. read more

This experience was the highlight of our trip! Our group on the boat was small (about 9 guests and 4 crew) for about 2 1/2 hours and it was perfect for us! We travelled to our destination where turtles go for feeding and cleaning (I can't remember the name). When we got there, there are about 5-6 other company sailing boats in this spot so be prepared!! When we got to the destination, they gave us a brief overview and rules/regulations! They provide you with a floatie that you have around your waist, snorkel gear (mask + fins), and amazing guides in the water. If you aren't a great swimmer or want some guidance, the guides are in the water with you and can guide you to make it comfortable! If you never snorkeled before, they can help teach you how to use it! My fiancé and I were regular swimmers so we felt comfortable exploring around the area! We saw so many amazing fish and turtles!! It was super neat to see a turtle at a safe distance and look at the beautiful coral below! I honestly could have been in the water all day watching the turtles! Our guides helped find turtles and cool things in the water to check out (we even saw a puffer-fish)! After maybe 2 hours snorkeling, our guides took the catamaran out more for us to explore the ocean and relax! We saw amazing coral and reefs and even saw some dolphins!!! They gave us a free drink on the house which was really sweet of them as well! We honestly had a blast and never wanted to leave! The guides made the trip even sweeter by their amazing service! I had to share with the community how awesome these 4 ladies were and this company!! read more

I sailed with Moana (cue Disney song) in 2022 and had a blast. I'm not sure how I found them and picked them out of all the other catamarans available, but I honestly think I selected them from the combination of price and style. They offer what seems like a quieter sailing expedition than others, and I think I got lucky because there was only one other family who booked this experience at the same time, so our journey was more private and relaxing. The tour I chose was Sea Turtle Snorkel Adventure from 2:30-4:30pm, and it was "discounted" to $75 per person for 2 hours. The pricing seems to fluctuate based on season or timing. When I took this tour, they did not offer complementary drinks, but it seems they do now. The tour takes you to Turtle Canyon, which is the location of coral reefs near Waikiki where turtles and sea life hang out. We mainly saw turtles and fish, but on the ride there, we spotted some dolphins as well. For the adventure, you must sign a waiver prior to boarding. You should bring clothes that will get wet - we just wore our swimsuits with a shirt over them so we could easily change, though there was a restroom on board (that you can't take a dump in). I also highly recommend sunglasses and sunblock, because there's pretty much no shade on the catamaran. You also need your own towel - though we dried off pretty quickly - and they provide you with snorkel gear (mask, flippers, and mandatory vest or floaties). They depart from piers next to Kewaio Basin Park, and we found reasonable paid parking in adjacent lots, so it was no problem driving here. You go through rows of docked water vessels categorized by letter (D), find the gate number (108), and wait there. It is recommended to arrive half an hour before departure. After getting a run down of the catamaran, safety guidelines, etc. and taking your shoes off to be on the boat, you take a nice roughly 20 minute ride to the area. I typically get motion sickness from rocking motion, but this was completely fine for me because of the fresh air, wind, and pretty smooth ride. When you arrive at Turtle Canyon, you get around an hour to snorkel and/or chill. There are other catamarans vaguely nearby doing the same experience, and you may even see some party boats. As someone who considers herself an average swimmer, I thought it was kind of rough floating out in the water while trying to go under a bit to see the turtles. The water wasn't too clear, so I was squinting while pushing my upper body down through my floaties, while trying to use flippers that I have no experience with, while holding my breath for an extended period, while making sure I didn't drift too far away from the catamaran, while battling eye discomfort from goggle suction. This part would have been way easier if I was more fit or an advanced swimmer, but it was still cool and interesting. I enjoyed the rest of my time chilling on their comfy bean bag chairs vibing to their playlist and taking photos (staff are very helpful and nice about them) until 4pm, which is when we started to head back to shore. I felt so grateful and calm from having this experience, and would recommend it for anyone as an activity to do around Waikiki. My specific tour with Moana Sailing had way less people than the other catamarans I saw, so I was really happy about that too. The staff was incredible, as they had really chill vibes and made sure everyone felt comfortable and at home, and were extra observant in pointing out the turtles and other sea life they spotted. Fun fact: I still had full bars 5G reception from T-Mobile the entire trip. read more
