We had such a great time snorkeling with the turtles! The day started off really well--the driver was on time and in the correct location. The only small suggestion (not really a complaint) would be to let guests know the exact pier and gate ahead of time, as we were just dropped off without much direction. The boat itself was beautiful and very clean. The staff was fantastic--friendly, professional, and they gave clear directions along with a thorough safety briefing. The ride out to Turtle Bay was absolutely beautiful, with great music that really set the vibe. It also wasn't crowded, which made the experience even better. The snorkeling was amazing! We saw tons of fish and even spotted two turtles, which was definitely a highlight. Afterward, the light lunch was perfect--just what we needed after being in the water. Captain Nick (I think that was his name!) took us a bit farther out, and we were lucky enough to see whales, which made the day even more special. Huge shoutout to the crew--Hadley and Andrea were wonderful. Hadley even joined us in the water, which made the experience feel more personal and fun. my sons and I went snorkeling to see sea turtles. We had a great crew Captain Topher, Greta and Natalie. Everyone was super helpful especially when one of my boys got sea sick and had to be swam back to the boat. We had a very private tour since there was only 8 people, but when we went to snorkel there were 100 people from 4-5 other catamarans. We took the one and a half hour catamaran, sunset cruise, and was on the Gold Coast yacht catamaran. We sailed through Waikiki, Diamond head then out through the ocean to watch the sunset. We were served cocktails and pupu's throughout the trip. The crew were so friendly and helpful. The yacht and catamaran was clean, with smooth sailing. We even saw a monk seal along the way. We went on the 3 pm whale watching trip which lasts about an hour and a half. They leave from Kewalo Harbor which is on the west end of Ala Moana. They motor on a large catamaran to the spots where they expect to see humpback whales. They also rely on reports from other whale watching companies to find the spots. We saw around 8 whales (backs and tails). No breaches. If you don't see any whales, they give you one free return trip. This month (February) is supposed to be within the season for the humpbacks. They provide free drinks which includes adult beverages. This is a pretty laid back trip which I enjoyed. There really isn't any educational aspect offered up. Friendly crew and fellow passengers. FYI: * You will have to remove your shoes and place them in a tube ( or bring a bag like we did and place them inside that) * Before you find seat there will be a safety briefing on the front area of the boat. * You should arrive early even if you are waiting right out of the gate area. This way you can have better position to get to an area you want to sit on the boat. * BRING A BLANKET AND/OR TOWEL!! Especially if you sit on the back of the boat or you are seating on the side of the boat. You will get wet and you will be cold and wet for the rest of the trip! You can never go wrong having it and not needing it then needing it and NOT HAVING IT ! * Be prepared for some of the best views you've ever seen! I brought a selfie stick and so glad I did! Absolutely loved this excursion . It was so efficient and the crew could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our crew was Flynn, (theCaptain,) and Andrea and Nick. They were so nice and anticipated our every need by giving us information about whales, pointing out whales, (blow holes,) taking photos for us, and most importantly.....serving us drinks! We were on an early morning whale watch cruise and didn't even know about a bar; let alone an open bar. It was open immediately because the crew informed us " it's 5 o'clock somewhere!" They had a few kinds of beer and an assortment of liquors. I had some delicious Kona Big Waves, my husband and friends had bloody Marys and screwdrivers. Andrea would actually get us drinks and bring them up to us so we wouldn't have to carry them on the rocky boat. Our cruise was fun and a little wavy. (Which I liked) The boat was only about 1/2 full so we weren't crammed in like sardines. Weather was perfect and we had a few blowhole sightings but no actual whale sightings. My wife of 41 great years and I wanted to watch the Friday Fireworks from the ocean, and Hawaii Nautical was able to meet our goal. We had a great time on the catamaran watching the Waikiki shore line go by as the sun had already set allowing us to photograph a great night sky line. The amount of time was just right to cruise around the harbor and see the view of the fireworks from the Hilton Hawaiian proved to be the pinnacle of our cruise experience. The crew was so polite and helpful in making sure we had a great time. The food was a nice box meal along with plenty to drink. Anthony and his crew were great we did the tour with sea turtles and dolphins and we got to see a large pod of dolphins and multiple turtles during the exploration. We had to go out to Mauka (spelling?!? ) to see them but it was amazing. We had a great time. It was 3 hours total 45 min of snorkeling and then sightseeing. Anthony was very entertaining. They are very good at their job and we felt very safe with them during this tour. I would highly recommend this excursion if you want to see the sea turtles of Hawaii and dolphins! Great service of hospitality from the boats captain, Spencer and first mate, Ben. Took us to great reef sites with live coral as far as the eye could see and lots of fish, without other boats around. Then guided our group through the water to a turtle cleaning station, with more than six turtles visible in one view. We also saw and were able to interact with an octopus. Turtle Canyon Catamaran Snorkel Cruise from Waikiki : A wonderful morning spent with a lot of room for progress at this cost. I'd they extended the tour to three hours you'd get a better bang for your buck. To start on a positive, I was able to photograph a family of four turtles together which was SO incredible and I'll never forget that moment. That said, my moments with the turtles were the only pleasantries of the morning. The crew is VERY diligent on timing, they depart right at 8 am so be sure to figure out parking before hand, and return exactly at 10. The host will berate you in front of everyone if you make them late. That said, given how tight the window is, 15 minutes was spent on prep talk and some was repeated again in the water, which could be consolidated. I would have loved to have at least 15 minutes to swim freely after the turtle sightings, was under the impression we'd have free time since drinks were being served after snorkeling, but we promptly returned to the dock. I've been walking around with a very uncomfortable scab between my crotch and thigh because of the chaffing the stupid life vest they force you to wear (to track you in the water, not required by law). Its incredibly uncomfortable and a persistent wedgie for women as it straps between the legs. Not using the strap cusses the best to ride up around your face in the water so that wasn't an option. GET A DIFFERENT INDICATOR PLEASE. I wish all the tours limited their party sizes. It was WAY too crowded to really enjoy the zen moments with the turtles, I kept getting smacked by peoples fins (in our group and others), it was a feeding frenzy. The crew beyond the host were very friendly and kind. Took peoples pictures, made drinks, charged peoples phones. All in all, would've happily paid $60 for the experience but over $100 is overpriced, unless they extended the tour an hour for chill time. read more
