He checked in with us often and made sure everything ran smoothly. My friend's mom felt so comfortable with him -- you could tell he truly cared. They also have a great space connected to the funeral home for a celebration of life gathering, which made it convenient for family and friends to come together afterward. When the staff member finally arrived, she asked several irrelevant questions and spent an excessive amount of time talking about herself. While this may have been an attempt to seem relatable, it came across as inappropriate and unprofessional. She left the room multiple times, each time leaving us waiting for 10 minutes or more, unnecessarily prolonging an already difficult process. Our loved one was scheduled to be transported to another state for final services, yet just two days prior, the flight had still not been booked and required permits had not been properly filed, causing delays. Throughout the experience, there was a complete lack of urgency, accountability, and professionalism. We were often met with dismissive attitudes rather than solutions. When families are navigating one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, compassion, professionalism, and timeliness are not optional especially when services have been paid for in full. This experience fell far short of what anyone should expect during such a sensitive time.

Most would have you go to another location for that, which I was told it's by law, and it makes sense you can't just have cremation at the residential area/neighborhood. My dad passed away before I could call other funeral homes for info and pricing and since I spoke to Fernando here, I felt I had sufficient information to go ahead and select Casa de Paz Funeraria when I had to make the hard decision and let the hospice know where his body should go to. After we went through all the papers, picked dates, etc. that's where I feel they were disorganized. The timing of the service kept changing on us. At first we were told we have x time but then later they said we have y time...I didn't feel confident in their commitment on timing so it was a little unsettling. On the day of the service, they tried their best to set things up for us. They were respectful to leave us alone and only provided what we need or asked for, which is fine. The facility looks a little dated, FYI. The cremation turned out to be at a different location and it was not aligned with what Fernando said when I first called, so I feel like I was falsely informed. The cremation is about 10 min from the funeral home and it looked like a very nice, modern facility. I also requested later for an additional death certificate and when I called, I gave them my address to send that to yet they some how didn't...I had to call them to follow up and after that, they did. The 2 stars is because I feel like they could have been better with the details. At times when you are already stressed, hurting because you loss a loved one, you need someone you can lean on and count on. I just feel this place is ok but needs alot of nudging and improvements hence the 2 stars.
