I requested quotes through multiple phone repair companies. Mobi.Geek was super quick getting back with me even really late at night. I got an appointment the next day at noon, which was great. Here's where it went south. The technician showed up and told me that the quote I got was for a low-quality screen. He said they had a better Apple-equivalent screen for $30 more. I told him that I didn't think that was a very good business practice, to upsell after he's already there with my phone in his hand. So I took it to avoid having to shop around again and wait another day to get my phone fixed. The screen I got, for the record my home button now sticks out further so you can feel a sharp edge around it. This is shady. This is an addition to the original review, since the company has responded. When you give a customer a competitive quote, it is definitely shady to tell them only after you have the phone in your hand that the offer was for an inferior product. So your choice is take the inferior screen and have your phone fixed. Or pay $30 more than you were quoted for the better screen. You have to believe your clients are stupid to think you can pull a last-minute up sell and they won't know what you're doing. If it isn't shady, then just promise that you will include this information at the time you send every quote, instead of when the technician is sitting at your table, holding your phone. If you won't do that, you are misleading the customer. And that is definitely shady. It doesn't matter how many great reviews you have. The business owner is very defensive about his practice of upselling, blaming the customer instead for a lack of research. Yelp was my research. I sent a quote request that went out to 5 different phone repair companies. He was the first to respond. He wasn't the cheapest. I didn't choose him based on the price. But that doesn't change the fact that he didn't disclose the higher price for the best screen. And here is what upselling is: Upselling is a sales technique where a seller induces the customer to purchase more expensive items, upgrades or other add-ons in an attempt to make a more profitable sale. Quick for reservations. I cracked my screen at 9am Saturday morning and booked online for a 3pm reservation. The rep said he'll be a little late and I said no problem. Just arrive when you can. The iPhone 7 was repaired in less than 15 minutes outside on the truck of his car. They give you a generic screen option that is cheaper or the iPhone option which is 30 dollars more. Since mine was old and I'll probably give this one to my kid, I opted for the cheap one. It does looks a little fuzzy, so if you're picking stick with the iPhone version.
