This review won't be long. I came across this gas station while driving around in Berkeley. I noticed the gas was cheaper than where i lived and it just looked cheaper in general. Date: 11/23/2016 Time: 3:45 PM 60° Partly sunny After leaving Sur La Table yesterday and taking the street way home via University Avenue E/B, my husband and I noticed the price of regular gas at this Mobil Gas Station was $2.27 a gallon. Wow...that's the cheapest price for gas around the Bay Area. We could not stop to pump the gas; thus, we returned this afternoon to take advantage of this bargain price. Mobil Gas Station is on the corner of 8th & University Avenue in Berkeley. One cannot miss the gas station, traveling on University toward San Pablo Avenue. Entering the gas station is relatively easy; however, exiting to the main thoroughfare can be slightly problematic - heavy traffic. The gas station accepts credit cards, even Discover card. It has an ATM machine in front and a mini mart inside. I got a good deal on a 16.9 ounce of bottled water. It was only $1.00. The mart also has the usual snacks, chips, candy, cold beverages and hot coffee. Female employee was not too engaging in conversation, but at least she was courteous. read more

This is your typical gas station. There is nothing really special going on here but it's an actual name brand Mobil station that has decent gas prices. The station has a convenience store with snacks, lotto, drinks, etc. Customer service is weak but what can you do. Overall, it's a safe place to gas up. read more

On and off i've been coming here for years, maybe even a decade or two. yes, this station has been here that long. still looks the same decade ago. upgraded to Mobil recently. no more indies left on univerrsity ave. reasonable pricing for regular, now diesel too. (2.79) cheaper than oaktown. good place to gas up on university. read more

Best location for Cop watching, especially if you have a camera! You might even get footage of a chopper flying over if you're lucky enough! Clerks are Hella cool and the police in the area seem to be petrified of cameras so be prepared for a wild ride! Know your rights!!! read more

I'm still worried that it's a national chain, but it's a cheapish, janky national chain if it is one, and if we're going to continue to kill the Earth slowly, we might as well be supporting the little guy and sticking it to the man in vain. Or something like that. The gas is cheap, although not the cheapest in the Bay Area. (That would be R C Gas in the Castro in San Francisco.) But you don't have to pay cash to get your gas cheap, which is a major selling point. It can be a sketchfest, but any gas station worth its gas-stationness is a sketchfest. I don't know what to complain about--oh, wait, I remember now: The pumps don't allow you to leave; you have to stand there and hold the trigger. That's so 1983, but it's becoming a trend in the Bay Area. (OK, it's becoming a trend on University Avenue in Berkeley, but that's quite a coincidence, no?) The pumps are fast, though, and not broken (not usually). Here's a little hint: Only come here if you're traveling east on University. If you're traveling west, NTG Gas has the same prices. It's annoying to get back onto University heading west from that station, but do you really want to cross to the southern side of University? OK, maybe you want to buy a sari and some chaat. read more

Cheapest gas around the immediate area. Dont be fooled by ARCO. They charge you a significant fee to use any other tender besides cash. Its not a oasis of a gas station by any means, just friggin cheap. I apologize for the overuse of the words "freakin" and "friggin" today. Its just as obnoxious to me as it is to you. read more

Ever since Mobil took over this gas station the prices have skyrocketed and now it's the most expensive gas on University. If you want inexpensive gas you can save 20 cents a gallon by going to one of the independent stations on San Pablo Ave read more

I had a good experience here within the last month. The pump feels new and the gas seems to be consistently cheap compared to the local area AND appear to be a good quality (my engine ran just a little smoother and quieter after getting gas here). My only criticism remains that they don't open up the restroom for their customer at night. read more

Date-6/15/2017 4.31 am. This is so pathetic.I was there 15 mins ago.I drive Uber for living and have been going to this gas station from years. I Get gas for $30.00 almost everyday and been using their restroom from years as well.But from last few days this new employee that they have is not letting me use their restroom and keeps coming up with same excuse that someone put too many toilet tissues in there and I know for sure he is lying and just being racist and disrespectful.I hope the manager or the owner of this place gets my massage and will be able to solve this problem or otherwise I will start going somewhere else (it's just not me but other uber drivers experienced same thing just like me couple of days ago) read more

Very poor customer service. The only reason it gets more tan one is because the gas is pretty consistently the cheapest in town, but another gas station across the street also has competitive pricing. Last time I went there, I couldn't figure out why the machine wouldn't take my card, or why it still wouldn't start pumping gas after I paid at the booth. When I returned a second time at the booth, the attendant was clearly expressing annoyance, with raised hand screaming "OK, NEXT TIME, YOU PUT THE NOZZLE BACK ON THE PUMP BEFORE YOU TRY TO PUMP GAS, YOU UNDERSTAND? SO GO PUT THE NOZZLE BACK." F* that. First, it has never ever been a problem at any other gas station. Regardless, you deserve better customer service. read more

The trouble with this company is the hidden stuff behind it. First, they will charge your card an additional $100+ before you even fill up. Then, if you don't have at least another 100 left on the card, they won't let it process. I guess it's so you don't overdraw. However, that $100 'holding fee' they don't return to your card for a couple of days. Then there's a $1 transaction fee every time I fill up there. I don't see that at other gas stations. Due to this, I have missed work today. read more
