They lie. Don't get a vehicle inspection here. I live on North Street, it's the side street where the station is located, so it was convenient location for me, but I'll never go back. Brought vehicle in and was told my I needed a new wheel bearing and rejected it. Fine, it was a little loose and starting to make the typical bad-bearing noise, so I went home that day and replaced it with the help of my father - I've been working on cars since I was in diapers and my father has been a mechanic for literally 50+ years. Bearings can be a pain, especially if they're stuck on so I had been avoiding the replacement but bit the bullet for the sticker. Brought it back to the shop with the new bearing installed and they rejected it again saying the bearing was still bad and they needed to complete the work or it won't pass. Went to a different inspection place and received a new sticker without issue. When asked why I didn't bring it back to the original place, I told them the story and they suggested filing a complaint with the state. Seriously, don't go here for an inspection. Even if you know cars and how to handle mechanics that lie you'll likely end up with a rejection sticker. Not worth the hassle. read more

ok an update on the rusty rear brake/rotor. recently while driving I heard some faint noise bouncing back, and after driving on the highway for 30 min or so I noticed the rust didn't go away, so I'm guessing a sticky caliber issue. I still don't know if they are supposed to fail a state sticker for that on a rear tire (the other mechanic told me no), but to be fair they did notice/guess the problem. So I added back 2 stars. Still pissed about the misquoted oil change and the double charge for state sticker though. read more

Stopped by here to fill up my tank. A young guy that worked there came over and politely asked me if I wanted to get my inspection sticker renewed. After the Covid year we've all had, I absolutely did not notice that it expired two weeks ago. $35, literally a 5 minute wait and without asking, they filled two of my tires that were a bit low. I brought in a 2009 Subaru outback. It was showing codes for cylinder one and cylinder two misfires. I had purchased a new set of cables from Subaru Wakefield which cost me just over $100. I bought an aftermarket coil pack from AutoZone which was just over $100. After replacing the original items with new ones, the problem persisted, so I brought it into their shop for them to diagnose it citing what I had already done. The next day they tell me that there's some sort of blockage or restriction in the exhaust somewhere which they didn't pinpointed. Makes sense so I wasn't arguing that. What I'm not happy about is I paid $625 for them to replace the new items which I just installed when there was no need to do so, they also tried telling me that the ignition wires that I bought from Subaru of Wakefield were not OEM but the ones they installed were OEM. I looked at the cables they installed and they're aftermarket. The cables I got from the dealership where identical to the original cables that I took out of the vehicle which were original to manufacture date because the vehicle only has 52,000 miles on it. So I basically paid $625 for them to tell me that there's a blockage or restriction somewhere in the exhaust. All they did was replace the brand new coil, pack and brand new original equipment, spark plug wires that I bought from Subaru in Wakefield the previous Saturday. They charged me for parts. I didn't need when they didn't even need to replace them to rule them out as a possible point of failure. You can plug a spark plug into the end of the wire, without screwing it into the engine and looking to see if it's sparking in the future I might use them for an inspection sticker just because they are literally around the corner from my condo, but I will never return their for their overpriced fuel or any kind of repair.even the diagnostic work they performed did not specify the point of failure. All I know is that it's behind the exhaust manifold which is 90% of the length of exhaust. After $625 in cost they did not do anything to resolve the car problem. Honestly this shop is not some neighborhood Mom and Pop shop. I would have received better service and better value had I brought it to the Subaru dealership. After paying $625 I'm in the same exact position I was in when I dropped my vehicle off. I don't think this practice is approved by the Better Business Bureau. read more

Pains me to write this review as I have been doing business with this place for several years and inparticular with Brian Wriight head mechanic. Was having problem with my power steering, left car with promise it would be back late that day - finally got it back 3 days later and the problem was not fixed even tho Brian assured me it was. By the way it cost $1800 for the repair that wasn't done. Back again left this time for 6 days - Brian brought car to me and when I just got in the car and backed out of space the same thing was still the problem with the power steering. He took car back and the next day called to say he could not fix the problem. Asked for my money back and it was to no avail. I recommend not doing business with this station. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR INSPECTION STICKER HERE. They will fail you and not even bring you to the vehicle first to discuss the issue. Tires were failed. Never measured the tread in front of me to show me the results. I did the penny test myself and Lincoln's head was sunk. My tire tread was still fine, not in a dangerous state what so ever. Last time I brought my vehicle there for inspection, my tail light was out. News to me. Hmmmm. While waiting today, the guy before me had 3 bulbs out. They like to make the quick, easy $$ on crap knowing it's hinged on a "pass" inspection. FYI You can challenge a rejection sticker with Vehicle Safety and Compliance Services Department in Quincy at 857-368-8130, and you must complete an Inspection Station Complaint Form. read more

I got my car fixed there after negotiating with them to ONLY fix what was broken and nothing else because after their "diagnosis" they gave me a quote for the work and it had things on there that didn't need fixing. They just thought I didn't know anything about cars and wanted to jack up the price on me. After I picked up my car on the way home my steering wheel was very wobbly. I thought great these a-holes probably did something to my car on purpose so I would bring it back and spend more money. I decided to drive home on back roads instead of taking the highway. Thank god I did because when I got home and inspected my car they didn't tighten the lug nuts on my front tire and I lost 4 out of 6 lug nuts. My tire was barely on with 2 lug nuts. I almost wrecked because of them. I will never go back there again. Fuck that place!!! read more

My guess is the three consecutive negative reviews are from the same person the way they're written. I've been taking my cars here for 6 years and have never had a problem. Inspections, regular servicing, repairs, tires, everything. I started using them because they were near work but even having changed jobs I still drive 35 miles to bring my cars here. Avoid. Agreed to a price and brought car back 2 days later for service. At drop off, the price had more than doubled. Also tried to get me to replace brakes that the dealer had already graded as "good". I walked. This place has a reputation for pushing you into unnecessary repairs - and it appears to be well-deserved. Inspection stickers are quid pro quo - me and the 3 cars before me all passed but it was "I'll pass you, but you need to get this work done". Scam. Avoid at all costs. read more

Same as users below. Do not go for an inspection sticker. They will fail you just to up-sell a different service that is more expensive than the actual cost of said service. After failing and being told I needed to replace a part, I brought it to my family mechanic of over 30 years to get the issue fixed. My mechanic mentioned that 1. what they failed me for isn't a reason for failure in MA. 2. The item that needed to be fixed shouldn't cost as high as I was quoted and 3. the item that needed to be replaced, was not actually an issue. They took one look at me and assumed I didn't know anything about cars and could be intimidated into getting the work done through them without getting a second opinion. read more

Pathetic service. The guy who is in-charge is incredibly rude. Went here for Mass Inspection, the guy failed me saying my OBD system is not ready and gave me a Reject sticker. Asked me to drive 500 miles and come back. On re-test he again failed me saying there is something wrong me with my muffler and tried to tell me that I didn't get the problem fixed - which he had never told me about in the first place. I have to tell you all how great the auto repair is at this place. I had an auto emergency - my car overheated and was spewing awful smelling stuff from under the hood. I pulled in and even though they were booked solid this day, Johnny the mechanic, went way above and beyond the call of duty by taking my car right then, and identifying the problem as a busted radiator hose. He replaced the problem hose and then went on to identify the root cause of the overheating problem in order to keep further complications from happening. The pricing was more than fair and the quality of work was super high. If you ever need your car fixed, I highly recommend this place. read more

When my car failed inspection the guy immediately went into a super high pressure sales mode to get me to have the "necessary" repairs done immediately, and by them. He quoted me a very high price but said he'd give me a deal and knock off $100. I went elsewhere and had the repairs done for more than $1300 less than the "deal" Lexington Mobil offered. The staff are friendly, but Jose the mechanic is just awful. I asked for new tires to get me through the winter and what did I get? Cheap Federal summer tires! You can get it online for $100 and they charged me $150 a piece. My car had some strange noise and Jose diagnosed it to be the front struts and rear shocks. I said fine. $1400 later, the noise was absolutely the same! On paper their labor charge is reasonable but they charge you an arm and leg for parts. I guess they have to make money off me one way or another but at least get the job done right. Don't expect me to ever come back again. read more

I used to love this place for repairs. Brian, the service guy was great. He was very honest and knowledgeable, the pricing was fair and the work was done well. Now there is this guy named Jose working there under Brian, that has just ruined the place. He exaggerates the repair and it's cost and how it needs to be done immediately. He basically lies and cheats you out of your money while telling you what a great deal you are getting. Beware also of his offers to do side deals for you without the Mobil's knowledge. I was overcharged for work that the dealership would have done for much less and done right the first time. Definitely go and get a second opinion if Jose gives you an estimate and don't listen to the rush technique he uses.You can look up repair estimates online on sites like cars.com and they offer lists of certified service and dealers who honor the site's estimates. One bad apple does spoil the whole bunch in this case. It's a shame. read more
