I've bought tires and wheels from Hogan in Beverly for over 30 years. Today I went in for a simple wheel/tire swap (winter to summer), something Hogan has done for me on my cars for years. For the first time ever, 3 of the staff inspected my summer tires and claimed they were dangerous with early 'dry rot' detected and refused to swap the tires, suggesting I needed 4 new ones. The date code was Feb-16, making the tires 8 years old. They claimed that DOT law prohibited them from swapping them. I can find no proof of that online, only 'suggestions'. They have maybe 8K on them and are in excellent condition, with no detectable deterioration and min 3/4 tread depth left. I am a car guy and keep my vehicles in top shape. I stopped using Direct Tire in the '80s when I witnessed multiple 'up-selling' scenarios while waiting for tire service - 'did you know your brakes are dangerous?' 'Let me show you why you need new shocks', etc. I suspect that Hogan staff is now incentivized to do the same - there's a new crew there. I'm never going back. I just had the best experience with Hogan Tire in Woburn. I had concerns about the breaks on my 2021 Jeep Gladiator. Hogan Tire looked at the entire break system from fluids to pads and everything in between then took it for a test ride. They gave me a total thumbs up and patiently explained why. 2 stars for a clean shop and courteous service. A check-engine light diagnosis is quoted as being 'complementary' via Hogan's website, however the shop tried to charge me $120 for this procedure. Brought my vehicle in for an oil change at the agreed upon time, but when I returned an hour and a half later (the estimated time of completion I was given) - they hadn't even started. When asked about the check engine light, I was told that I would have to bring my vehicle back another day. Rushed job and dishonest pricing. Would not recommend. read more

they are a rip off. i had my oil changed and a alignment, they tacked on bogus fees of $2.75 for oil disposal fee. shop supplies labor $12.46. envirnmental fee $3.94. shop supplies parts $4.28. so they stole $19.15 from me with bogus phoney fees. they are no longer owned by the hogan family. i dont think i will be rushing back there to get ripped off. by the way i know that they get paid for the used oil from a vendor and what shop supplies are used for a oil change. answer is none. and what shop supplies are used for a alignement. answer is none. if alignment was difficult and required somthing extra you can bet they would have a name for the part and a price for. they are now owned by a big company that buys up tire shops with a good reputation and they keep original name, i have been buying tires and getting work done there for many years but no more, when i need new tires i will go to costco and i will not get ripped off. read more

I had a great "tire service (flat)" repair experience at Hogan Tire and Auto, Woburn, MA. The TPMS display in our car indicated that a tire was low on air. I went to Hogan Tire without an appointment, and received a warm greeting, and an explanation of what a flat repair would take. Hogan Tire has big windows in their Customer Waiting Room, so that you can watch what's going on with your car (they hide nothing), and I watched a skilled mechanic inspect and repair the damaged tire on our car. Hogan Tire's repair appears to be a high quality, professionally performed repair. I could not have asked for more. The service was great, and the Hogan people and processes are high integrity, and high quality. I would highly recommend Hogan Tire and Auto, Woburn. read more

took my car for 10k service: basically oil change and tire rotation. when they gave the car back I noticed that they haven't done the service and only charged me. I took the oil stick out and the oil was dirty as before. such a dishonest business they run. never go back there. read more

I've been coming here for years for tires and brake work. It's been good until this last visit. I asked for an inspection as well as the brake work. They did the full inspection but didn't give a new sticker because it's just a "courtesy inspection". Very misleading, but it gets worse. Earlier in the day, I called to confirm that I would get a new sticker and the guy said yes. That's a straight up lie. I hope the $15 courtesy inspection fee was worth it. You lost a customer today. I can't support that kind of business. If they'll lie about the little stuff, they'll lie about the big stuff. read more

the following deserves 5 stars: I got an appointment the next day when other places were booked for over a week The person who took my call was polite and helpful The people in the service department were polite and helpful The waiting area was clean The following deserves 1 star: I was charged $42.50 to fix a tire that had a slow leak from a nail stuck in it I thought that was very expensive and when I was talking with friends and coworkers I was told that I was taken advantage of I concluded they were correct when I called around to competitors and their price was more than half what I paid. So, this week I took my SUV in for a new battery, tire rotation & oil & filter change. Very satisfied with the quality of the battery, the cleanliness of my engine compartment (the dealer I used to go to left oil all over engine & dripping from the oil pan), and the timeliness of all this work. We have been customers for over 25 years with multiple vehicles. We sent our daughter with her car she purchased 2 years ago. She scheduled an appt for oil change and tire rotation. She was approached saying she needed new front brakes for $700 which she was very concerned about. Then asked if she wanted her engine cleaned for $90. She denied both and went to her car noticing her tires were not even rotated. Concentrate on services asked for before trying to sell a 25 year old woman other things. I called Tuesday March 21st at 9am and my appointment was set for 2:30. Don't come here unless you plan on being ripped off. I was quoted $310 over the phone for a rim swap and tpms install plus alignment. When I get there they tell me I can't use the lugs and tpms I purchased. They then tried to charge me $730 for the work plus ordering new lugs and tpms sensors when I already had my own. So I took my car to Firestone in Wilmington and got the work they tried to charge me that amount of money for with $255. read more

Sometimes you just gotta trust somebody. My dealer told me that my tires had dry rot and needed to be replaced. Were I keeping the car, I'd have done it in a heartbeat, but I'm planning to get a new one in the next couple of months, so I wanted a second opinion. I brought the car to Hogan. I've done business with them in the past, but this was a set of warehouse club tires, now out of warranty. I didn't get the name of the tech who helped me, but his considered opinion was that while there is some dry rot (he called the worst tire a 4 out of 10) and while he would have loved to sell me a new set of tires, it wasn't necessary as a safety consideration if I'd be trading in the car before the summer. Had he told me I needed a new set of tires, I'd have bought them on the spot, 'cause, hey, you gotta trust somebody. I applaud them for their honesty. read more

Hogan tire has serviced my families vehicles for nearly 20 years. That relationship has ended. I brought my 2018 Subaru Forester in for tires. Hogan recommended transmission maintenance as I was at the recommended mileage. I agreed and the work was done. Two days later my wife broke down and the car was returned to hogan. I was then told it was probably an o2 sensor but they wanted to keep it another day. It was then carted off to fna transmission and then to Subaru of Wakefield. Because a non Subaru tech destroyed the transmission, Subaru could not honor my 100k power train warranty. 1 and a half MONTHS later hogans insurance company opted for a used transmission also violating my factory warrantee. Flash forward 5 months to today, I was told my torque converter gasket is leaking and a new 2000 dollar bill is what's needed to repair. Because of the lack of warrantee I'm screwed again. Neither hogan, their insurance company or Subaru stands behind their work or ethics. Our 20 year relationship is over. (9 vehicles) I hope this review acts as a warning to anyone else who might be thinking of using hogan tire. read more

I had replaced all 4 tires on my SUV about a year ago when I struck a curb and had a large "egg" protruding from the side of one. I called and they pulled me up and saw what brand and model of tire I had and ordered one and had me come in the next day at noon. They replaced the tire and did an alignment on all of them in less than an hour. Great service read more

Three months ago I noticed I needed new tires. I went online to Hogan tires for a quote...it never came. After a few weeks, I went online again and finally received a response. It was a decent price and the place is local, so I figured I'd give them a try. I again used the website to schedule and appointment and I was good to go. I arrived at 8AM for my appointment. I should have known something was amiss when the man at the counter asked for all of my information (name, address, car make/model). Didn't they have all of this from either the quote or the only appointment. But no matter, I moved to the waiting room to wait. The waiting room has nice windows of the garage so you can watch your car being worked on. And I watched...but no car. An hour went by and my car wasn't even in the garage. I watched other customers come in after me and leave before me. After another half hour, I went to the front desk to ask what the hold up was. After some back room chatter, I was told it would be worked on immediately...no explanation or apology. Another half hour went by and I was finally called. I've been here two and a half hours for a simple two tire replacement. The man behind the counter asked me AGAIN for my information. I couldn't believe it and told him this is the 3rd time I've provided it. He told me their website doesn't connect to their system. I was angry at this point and it showed, but I kept my cool and didn't explode. The man gave me my total, charged my card, and then handed me my paperwork without a word. No apology for the wait, no thank you for my business, not even "You're all set". He had the nerve to give me attitude. Regardless of the price or my needs, I won't be going back here. All I needed was an apology and an explanation. Everyone gets busy and mistakes happen, but these guys didn't own up to it and made me feel unappreciated. Thanks for nothing Hogan!! read more

I recently went to Hogan after my mechanic advised me that I might need to replace my tires. I didn't need to make an appointment, and they quickly diagnosed the 2 front tires as needing replacement. The work took about an hour and fifteen minutes, because they were busy, but it was a comfortable wait--there's one room with a TV and magazines, and another quiet room with desks where you can set up a laptop and do some work (they offer free wifi--the password is posted in the TV room.) If waiting doesn't appeal to you there are a number of stores (Lowe's, Market Basket, Kohls, Post Office) within a five minute walk. The tires are warrantied-- they will replace them if they get flat, up to one year. read more

I just bought 4 new tires here and was satisfied. Compared to other experiences auto-related, this went really well. After I told them I used snow tires in the winter (which I change myself) they let me know I had two choices for tires. I could get the higher end tires which work really well in the rain, or the lesser brand that would be $80 cheaper all told, but wouldn't be as good in wet weather. He said I could get away with the cheaper tires if I wanted since I had the snow tires for the winter. This went a long way for me: any place that was that straight-forward and honest and didn't immediately try to oversell me earns my repeat business. Prices were a slightly higher than other places but still fine. Waiting area was clean, spacious, offered good coffee for free, and had clean restrooms. They had the tires on in just over an hour and I was on my way again. read more

RUDE...When I went into ask for an estimate, the person waiting on me was extremely rude and dismissive of my request for the brand and type of tire I wanted. It was your typical "I am a man and I know better" chauvinistic rhetoric. Additionanly, he tried to push tires that were almost double the price for my 10 year old corrolla, which has fared quite well will the goodyears I have had for...10 years! My advice...stay away unless you like getting bullied and belittled. THANK YOU, Hogan Tire, for reinstating my faith in humanity. Okay that might be a bit of an overstatement. But after seeing a prime example of how not to run an establishment like this around the corner at NTB, I was scared to go to any tire place honestly. Walking into Hogan Tire, my worries melted. The garage area was clean and organized with workers who really seemed to not only know what they were doing, but to take their jobs seriously while also enjoying themselves. The gentlemen at the counter couldn't have been nicer to me or my husband. We both got new tires and had alignment checks, etc. and it went so smoothly. They took time to explain everything we had questions with and there was absolutely NO BS whatsoever. They were genuinely courteous and attentive. Work was done even earlier than it was quoted to be done. Prices were fine. They matched a competitor price and they even did an analysis of my tires on the spot when it wasn't even my appointment time, told me exactly what was wrong with them, and when I got my car back, no more wobbly road noise! Even the waiting room was comfortable and well lit. Bathroom was clean. Ugh, I just can't say enough about this place. I'm so happy to have gone here after having such an awful experience elsewhere because it makes me appreciate it all the more. If I'm still in the area the next time I need tires, I will be coming here without a second thought! read more

I hate tire places. Honestly, given the choice between having a tooth filled or a tire changed, I'd probably opt for the former. The tooth would be cheaper and much faster. With that said, I had a fine experience here. They didn't try to upsell me on anything other than their usual road hazard warranty and they didn't pull the usual "this is a four wheel drive car" stuff on me. They offered to replace only one tire and I pushed them to do two, at the recommendation of my mechanic. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that it took about two hours, which is slightly painful. read more
