For anyone out there who missed that part of 2010, Four Loko was a controversial cult beverage made of alcohol, caffeine and a bunch of other sh*t that pretty much should probably never be consumed by a living organism. There was a whole big stink about the FDA banning it, supposedly because it could kill you, but more likely because it was pseudo-marketed to teens and impaired your ability to judge just how impaired you really were. I can tell you from one (very stupid) experience involving little ole me drinking 2.5 tall boy cans of Four Loko that you don't feel drunk, it will feel like your heart is pumping out of your chest to the point where it's impossible to sleep because the sound of your own rapid heartbeat in between your ears will keep you awake and the next morning you might feel fine, but by the time the afternoon turns into evening, you'll be looking for ways to put yourself out of your misery and probably contemplate hanging yourself from the shower curtain... or at least that was my experience. ... Anyway, you can get in on all that action starting here... As for the station itself, I have some beef with them involving an incident over winter where I really needed gas, and had a personal policy of only paying with cash. It was late, the lights were on but both front doors to go in and pay were locked. Lame + annoying + super pissed me off because this is one of those gas stations where you can pay with cash and gas will be like 8 cents cheaper a gallons than paying with a card, but because they were asleep at wheel or who knows what, I had to use my card and pay the stupid premium price for gas. Hrmph. I still want my 80 cents back. Today, only after a brief protest by me about getting gas from this station that was quickly followed up with my realization that this is the only convenient place to fill up before getting on the highway due to it's location on the left hand side of the street, did i agree to patronize the pumps that I was once burned by. I went in to pay cash and this time both doors were open, I peeped the mighty road soda selection where I saw the Four Loko, and had a really friendly exchange with the man and woman working behind the counter where I felt like we could partially bury the bad no-service hatchet and work towards new beginnings. I could see them becoming a 4-star in the future with the conveniently attached Dunkin Donuts w/drive through and their pretty stellar selection of beer (for a gas station)... but just for the record, I'm still not a fan of places that do the one price for cash, the other for card thing. I think whether cash or card, we should all be treated as equals. Stop the segregation. word.

So much so that I would like action to be taken against this employee. Unfortunately, I did not get his name, but this is not the first time that he has treated my sister and I this way. Immediately when we walked into this store, he practically told us to get out. This employee never acknowledges us. I simply asked if we could purchase IL scratch-off lottery tickets. I was immediately told in a very aggressive tone that lottery is closed. I can use the machine. Trust me, I would have preferred to use the machine, but the ticket I wanted was behind the register. I then asked why scratch-off lottery was closed and he yelled that they close at 9? Still prompting for an explanation, as I knew that you could purchase and redeem lottery scratch-off tickets, until 2am, he simply screamed that it was closed and to get out. Please refer to the link stating specifically the timeframe you can purchase and redeem scratch-off tickets in Illinois. What time do they stop selling scratch off lottery tickets in Illinois? (askinglot.com). At this point I began to videotape because I was that upset. I proceeded to ask to speak to a manager and he said, get out, you can come back in the morning. I asked if I could give him/her a call and he refused. In the meantime, my sister wanted to check out an item she won through your current Fuel Runner promotion. He did finally check her out but was not happy about it. In fact, he mentioned under his breath that you only come in here to get everything free! Yes, we do come in because this is the only location near us, to redeem our promotion earnings, but if they did not want to honor these, they should not be a Circle K Franchise. This is simply unacceptable as nobody should be treated this way, especially as a customer. To make matters worse, I stopped back in this evening 4/28 at 8:30 p.m. to purchase the scratch-off tickets. It was a different clerk, so I asked him what time they stop selling scratch-offs behind the counter. He told me never. You can purchase those 24/7! So, here in lies my point. Absolutely ridiculous. It's not pretty, but it's really basic....no thrills. No car wash. I say that because so many places now have car washes and the price per gallon is different if you buy the car wash. I drive a jalopy (Google it) and probably wash it never. Why should I be penalized for not washing my car? That's why you should go to this station....no penalties, no scams. It's an independent station from the Bucky's Mobil stations around the area. The people who own/run the station are always nice and friendly!
