I got recommended this place by Central Computers down the street when they couldn't accommodate time to fix my cracked iPhone screen. I never heard of Mobile Kangaroo but always drove past it. Called them to see if I could drop off my 4s, they told me a reasonable price and I also found a yelp deal for new customers. I could already tell they had great customer service by the friendly tone over the phone. I arrived, handed over my phone for 25 minutes while I had lunch, and it was ready to be picked up in less than an hour! These people really like what they do and you can tell by the quality and efficiency that their main purpose is to make their customers happy and satisfied with the services they provide. Smashed my iPhone 4S screen this morning, only 2 weeks after getting it. Called right away and was able to bring it in first thing. The place was busy so it took about 45 minutes to fix. It was a bit less than half the cost than doing it with Apple, and the Yelp deal made it even cheaper. Fast, friendly, affordable, and professional. While on my fantastic vacation over President's Day weekend, I basically had waaay too much fun and dropped my phone shattering the back. Poor iPhone4! I was given a cover to hide the shattered back side but let's face it, it's still shattered. I remembered years ago my blackberry's front cracked and brought to the Mountain View location but now that there's a San Mateo location, it's so much more convenient. $20 and it's like nothing ever happened. These guys service laptops too and do a great job. I had a nasty malware virus on my Macbook Pro and the bozos down at Best Buy geek squad said it was a 3 week backlog for any service work. No way I could wait that long so on a whim I called up MK and talked to Ted. They had it diagnosed (no charge), backed up and fixed by that evening. And the rate was very reasonable. Not to mention they are closer to my house than Best Buy anyway. From that moment on I decided to give them all of my business including an old iPhone 3G that had what I believed to be a bad LCD. Again they diagnosed at no charge and determined that the LCD was fine but something else was wrong with the board itself. They could have done a quick LCD swap and sent me on my way as a quick fix that woudl not have solved the real problem but these guys are total pros and very honest. It also helps that the store is clean, bright and professional looking unlike some other repair shops I've visited. Prices are reasonable. I'd recommend anyone to use their services read more

I would totally give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Coming back from LA i spilled a large sprite all over my purse where my phone was located. I didnt know until the next day that the speaker got drenched! And was nervous that I would have to go buy a new phone and spend $200+. I came across Mobile Kangaroo, walked in hoping for a miracle. I came in and Robert helped me right away and was pretty sure he can fix the phone in a day or 2. I kinda didn't believe him since the phone was not working at all! So, hoping for the best, i left my luxurious smart phone with him and was nervous that i wouldn't have a phone while he worked his miracles. I have been meaning to write this review for a long time. Ted was the person who helped me with my old iPHONE 3GS. I was leaving for a trip to Asia and needed a spare just in case and the "WiFi" wasn't working since it would intermittently go in and out. This place was fabulous! I came in with a replacement iphone 4s screen that I had purchased on Amazon for about $25. My boyfriend tried to replace it, without success. I called this place and was given a price of $35 for the labor of replacing the screen (which is way better than I had seen for other places). I also got the discount due to the yelp offer- which allowed me to only spend $20 on the labor total... I don't know why I went for over 3 months with a cracked screen! I can't say enough about how great my experience was. It was SIMPLE (communications via email, text, phone all seamless), it was EFFECTIVE (in less than a few hours I had my Mac back in great shape (I'd expected a day or two), it was INEXPENSIVE - actually free - as they are associated with Apple and "diagnostics" are covered in their relationship, and my interaction with the staff person was both FRIENDLY and EXPEDITIOUS. I can't think of a time where I actually enjoyed getting my computer fixed. It's not everyday I write a review about a place I ended up not doing business with but I had to for these guys. My girlfriend broke the glass on her Nexus 4. Being a great guy, I took the phone to Mobile Kangaroo so I could get it fixed and surprise her later that day. Awesome, right? The guys at the store looked at the phone and told me that it would cost $150 to repair the phone but were honest about the repair. I was told I should consider NOT having it fixed as the phone was only worth a few bucks more than the repair and suggested some other options and sent me on my way. They could have easily taken $150 from me but I appreciated the honest assessment and advice. I got the girlfriend a Nexus 5 and I'll be sure to visit these guys again if I (hopefully never!) need a phone repaired. read more

Scouted for the best deal I could find for replacing my cracked iphone 5 screen... there is no better deal than the one offered at Mobile Kangaroo (in the peninsula anyway). I got my phone back in better-than-expected condition within 30-40 minutes. I also had some water damage behind the screen, but they were able to clean it so my screen is literally as good as new now! No visible signs of water damage anymore. I thought my phone was goner after a bad spill. The inner screen was cracked and the display displayed nothing. I was pretty sure I was going to have to buy another phone, but thought why not try one of the repair places on 25th to see if they could fix it. I walked into Mobile Kangaroo because they were the closest of the two places to my work. Ted greeted me when I came in and he was cool. Asked me what happened and looked at the phone. Good news my phone could be fixed, bad news I had to wait two days for the part to come in. He also said if the part didn't fix the phone then he wouldn't charge me for it, so no risk. The quote was reasonable so I gave the ok. On the second day they called me to let me know the part came in and I ran over with my phone. He took about 15 minutes to fix it and it worked fine. You can't even tell anything was broken. Ted honored the Yelp coupon and I was so impressed with the repair I left him my wife's IPhone, which has been officially declared dead by the coroner (Apple Genius), to see if he can fix it. read more

Used a Yelp deal to lower the already LOW prices here!! They are so friendly and helpful. I can tell they really wanna help, I don't feel like they're just trying to take my money. I got an estimate from the other mobile place a few doors down and they quoted $110 for my iPhone repair (middle button and the lock button weren't working). The guy at Kangaroo mobile did the middle button for free and the lock button took about 20 minutes and was only 25 bucks after the Yelp deal. Helped me unlocked my AT&T iPhone 5 internationally, very fast and very efficiently! I went to Kangaroo to unlock my iPhone 5 a few weeks ago, but the employee said that my phone should already be unlocked already since I got it in May. Earlier this week, I tried to use the phone abroad and it didn't work! I contacted Kangaroo on their website and Ted, the manager, responded within a couple hours. I wasn't going to fix the cracked iPhone 3GS screen, because our household has since moved on to next-gen iPhones, Androids, etc. But the price was right - $45 plus tax, much cheaper than Apple repair--and Mobile Kangaroo turned it around in less than an hour. Now I can sell the functioning 3GS on eBay for at least $100 or keep it as a web-surfing device. I will definitely check these guys out for an out-of-warranty repair. read more

about a month ago, I took my iPhone in to get my screen replaced. Teddy told me that it would be ready in about 30 minutes or less. I just went to the coffee shop across the street for a cup of hot cocoa while I waited. After 20 minutes I came back and he knew it was me who walked in- he was almost done at that point. Cracked my iPhone 4s screen twice. TWICE! The first time, I actually asked my friend to fix it for me, which was great, but... I had to drive from San Mateo to Concord to get it fixed, which is pretty far. A friend of mine recommended to me Mobile Kangaroo, and time is money. Oops, I wish I'd seen the Yelp deal before I went here. Oh well, it was still worth it. My Samsung Galaxy S2 had recently started having battery issues. Apparently it's a known issue with the phone and Ice Cream Sandwich. Anyway...I went to Sprint to see if they could help me, and the sales guy there pointed me to Mobile Kangaroo, just a few blocks down El Camino, to get a new battery. Robert was on the floor when I got there, and he told me he was currently out but that he'd just ordered some batteries and he took my name and phone number to let me know when they came in. To my surprise, he called the very next day to tell me the batteries were in the store! They recycled my old battery, and so far the new one is working great. Looking over their price list while I was there, it seems they do all sorts of mobile phone and computer repairs for a fair price. There was only one other customer at the place when I arrived. Another person from inside came to help me. He was really nice and asked me what I needed and took a look at my phone. He said he would be done at the latest in a half hour but finished in just 15 minutes. As I was there waiting, the other customer had issues with his phone. The guy there was very patient and explained what the issues were. The customer was a little upset at the explanation and the possible cost but the guy was very professional about it. He reexplained the situation and even offered to open the phone in front of him. He pointed out the issues and noted why it had to be replaced. I thought that was very profession to me. I've got a F*'d up Android phone. These guys worked on it for a whole week, and couldn't solve it. Flashed custom ROMs, upgraded my OS. No luck. But they didn't charge me, cause they couldn't fix it. Not just as good as it gets -- better. Brought my 4GS in because the last 1/8" of a microphone jack had broken off inside the port and was locked in by a detent, which meant the phone only worked on speakerphone. I tried several solutions on my own and looked at some online videos. The front-running advice was to stick something like the tube of a ball point pen with crazy glue on it down in there to "grab" the jack. That made me leery because several of the commenters stated that they had crazy-glued the tube into their phones! I tried Verizon, all they could do was give me a dental pick to try to pry it out of there -- and offer me a new contract, of course. Apple wanted megabucks and to keep it for days. I found Mobile Kangaroo on Yelp. The guy who helped me was very nice and took less than two minutes. He did a very clean job, too. I went around looking at other stores and adv. on craigslist and this is simply the best deal. There is another store next door that does the same stuff for more $ so make sure your at the right location. M. The most efficient and honest business. The camera on my HTC One x dies on the 13 months of service, AT&T is off the hook and they show no sympathy when I asked for help. Called the placed used to fix my computer and was referred to Mobile Kangaroo. Saw most of the 5 stars review and curious about this place... Walked in Monday morning, told them the issue. Robert immediately identify it's a hardware problem either on the camera module (easy fix) or the motherboard (gotta go back to HTC). Robert first recommended me to send it back to HTC for repair since they somehow extended my warranty til July, but it will take at least two weeks to get the phone fixed. I asked Robert how long it will take if I were to let them do the repair, he offered to order the camera module for me and have it shipped next day and perform the repair within an hour! WOW! Next day service!!! Not only that, Robert added if he can not fix the camera, it will be zero charge, and I don't even have to worry about the special order on the camera module! WOW! it never happened in any repair job that I have been encountered, other places always charge some sort of diagnostic fee and apply to the repair if the job is performed. I went ahead and place the order since I got nothing to lose. Called next day afternoon and told the part has arrived, dropped off the phone, return an hour later, Robert showed me the camera module he ordered and told me it's the motherboard problem, sending it back to HTC is the only option. Got my phone back, Thanks Robert for his wonderful and efficient service. Will definitely come back if I have any phone or computer issue in the future. Highly recommend Mobile Kangaroo!!! Sent off an email through their web site to see if they could change a battery in my HTC One M8, knowing it's theoretically a "non-replaceable" type, and it can be a bit hit or miss whether someone with the tools can do it, especially with an HTC, which IFixIt gives a repairability rating of 2 out of 10. Surprisingly, I got an email back a few hours later from Ted, even though it was well outside business hours. He suggested using a genuine HTC battery and said he'd try to get priority shipping to get it there for Wednesday, the earliest day I'd be able to come by. Sure enough, Wednesday came around and I got a call that they got the battery. I drove over and they managed to replace it while I got my hair cut nearby. Unfortunately after I got home, I noticed the microphone wasn't working well after the repair. A couple more emails, and Ted reassured me that they'd take care of it. I stopped back in on Saturday, and it was a matter of about half an hour to get it sorted. (The HTC speaker grills are glued down, and a little adhesive was plugging the mic hole. So it just needed to be disassembled, cleaned out, and glued down again.) All told, I'm happy that my phone will keep working a while longer, for a fair price with friendly and helpful service. If I could make one suggestion, it'd be to run a phone through a quick, full set of checks before giving it back to the customer to avoid such trouble, especially with difficult phones like HTCs. Checking all the buttons, making and receiving calls, and playing videos with both speakers working, if applicable, might be a good idea. read more
