I had the somewhat common unresponsive iPhone Home button issue. I read a variety of things online, easy/quick fixes to the full blow process of replacing the button. I tried one quick "fix" with short-lived success. I drive by these guys to and from work on a daily basis, so thought I'd look them up on Yelp and investigate the cost of a button replacement. Wow, so many great reviews. Good sign and some reviews quoted about 40 bucks to replace the button. Not a bad price in my opinion. So I call to get info and they say they might be able to fix it for free. Free? So I get there and Robert helps me. He said my phone was in good condition (based on looks) and button didn't feel bad at all. Then he starts to work some alcohol into the gap (after getting my permission) around the button. It's a fix I saw online but people reported varying degrees of success. So, after several minutes he asks me to play around with the button for a while while he helps someone else. I do one single and double-tap (don't worry, no bullet holes in anyone's head) after another and all seems fine. He said I should be good since he and other customers have had good success with this approach on buttons that felt far worse. His goal was to fix my phone AND save me 40 bucks. Wow, again! This place is awesome. I had a problem with my MacBook Pro so I contacted the store expecting to spend a bunch of money to fix the issue but Edmond let me know that this particular laptop had a recall for the issue I was dealing with and offered to fix it for FREE! He ordered the parts, they arrived 2 days later and I had my laptop back HOURS after I received the message that the parts had arrived. Nad if that wasn't enough, he even cleaned a stain in my laptop that many people had said was permanent. Simply AWESOME! read more

For the second time the fruit company has left me with no practical options for dealing with my cellular problems, so for the second time I went to Mobile Kangaroo. Again, they nailed the problem and had me and my phone back on track. Todays issue had my first stop telling me that my only choice was to purchase a new phone. By using my upgrade I could get set up for a few hundred dollars and a new contract. Kangaroo Mobile (my second stop) diagnosed my problem in under 10 seconds and went on to fix it for free. If it weren't for the fact that I couldn't back up my mom's iPhone 5c, I would have lost all her data and just paid the high deductible to replace her phone. As luck would have it, Ted at Mobile Kangaroo took a look at the phone and said it should be fine with a screen replacement. Sure enough I dropped it off and went back to pick it up a few hours later (I wasn't in a rush...they said it was a 30 minute job) and the phone is functioning like a brand new phone. I can't say enough about their service. To top it off I used a Yelp 10% coupon and it was honored on the spot. I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to write one for Mobile Kangaroo. Broke the front screen on my Nexus 4. Found this place on Yelp and took my phone there. They quoted a price of ~130 for the screen replacement and labor in total, which seemed very reasonable to me (a lot cheaper than sending it back to LG for repair). They also advised that buying a new phone might be a better way to spend my money as opposed to repairing it, and I respected that Robert would recommend that. However, I wanted the screen repaired, so I left it there till the parts came in, and paid an initial deposit for the part. Upon picking it up for repair, it was noticed that the replacement screen had an issue. They had to order in a new part, and I was in no real hurry to get the phone back so had no issue with the wait. When the new part came in, they replaced it in 30 minutes, and it worked great. And because of the delay, I was told by Robert not to worry about the remaining balance on the work order, and I was not charged the balance (~$50). GREAT customer service, and great job on the screen replacement as well. read more

These guys are awesome. My iPhone 5 was an 18 month-old workhorse that was suddenly shutting down every minute. I took it to the Apple store, who told me that the battery status was fine and recommended I buy a replacement for $270. I took it to Mobile Kangaroo. Within minutes the guy here had opened up the phone and started troubleshooting. It seemed that while the battery was ok, the cable connecting the battery to the phone was corrupt in some way. He tested a new battery and indeed my phone was back to life. New battery replacement was a total of $50 + tax. With the $20 for $10 Yelp deal I paid $43 out the door. Very happy. read more

I've been here 3 times - once to repair mackbook screen, another time to fix ipad screen, and another time to fix macbook butterfly keyboard. They are always very professional and their service is quick (usually get my device back before the stated time). The location is easy to find and parking is easy. Very unprofessional and bad experience! I brought in a water damaged S4 Galaxy phone a few months ago and was quoted at being contacted within 3 business days to determine whether the phone would be fixed or not. (No charge if they couldn't fix it). I waited 5 days and still no contact. I decided to call them myself after 7 days (they're closed on Sundays). They tell me that they were booked and that I would have to wait another week before the technician can take a look. I wait another 7 days and no phone call. Being fed up I, call them myself again. They were busy and told me they would call me back within 20 minutes. 30 minutes later and still no phone call. I call them myself again and they tell me my phone is basically a "goner". So I basically wasted 2 weeks to find out my phone cant be fixed. I went back to claim my broken phone in hopes of selling online for scrap metal on Gizmogul. I send my phone in and I get a notification that I am receiving less cash because the S4 was missing parts such as the SIM card reader and that the volume controls were ripped out. Mobile Kangaroo fails to followup with their customers and they stole my phone's parts/failed to replace them. Waste of time and ruined any chance of my phone being sold for parts. Avoid! read more

Fantastic service! Dropped off the phone for a cracked screen repair at 5 PM and it was done in an hour. My phone is like brand new! Quite a bit cheaper (and probably faster) than most other phone repair shops- and that was before adding on the yelp deal! The nicest guys work there. I cannot recommend Mobile Kangaroo in San Mateo enough. It's so convenient with parking right outside. Edmund provided excellent service. My display board in my MacBook Pro went out. He immediately diagnosed the problem which was pretty expensive (not his fault - just an expensive replacement part). However, he told me I could simply hook up a monitor, which would work just fine - in fact doing himself out of some business! Who does that?! I decided to go ahead with the repair. It took 24 hours; my computer was all cleaned up - keyboard and screen - and the whole process was fantastic. I have moved up the peninsula but I didn't hesitate in driving down to San Mateo to take my laptop to this great repair store. Ten stars! Thank you for fixing my laptop, Edmund. Came here 2 days ago for a really simple job, to get my contacts transferred from my iPhone 2g to 3gs and they accidentally merged my contacts with other customer contacts. The tech had to print off a list of all the new contacts (400) and I had to go through list to indicate which one was mine, then the tech had to manually clean it up. Now my contact list doesn't sort by name correctly. Now, to be fair, they did get most (90%) of the contacts on to my new phone, but now I have to figure out the remaining 10% and figure out how to fix the sort by name plus they charged me the full price. I'm sure if you have a broken screen or anything else hardware related, they do a great job, BUT, when it comes to SMS or address books, I would avoid this place for syncing. JUST BE WARNED. Updated 12/27/11: To be fair, Ted, did contact me after my original post to see if there was anything he could do, plus informed me how to re-sort my list which was a huge issue for me, but I still have to manually find the missing name/#'s, plus my original contact list on my old phone was messed up so I can never know if the list is 100% correct. I do feel they try there best especially since they followed up after the service. In my case, they did try to get most of the #'s after merging all the contacts, however, not all of them were transferred over, I did adjust my original review above to reflect the correct % transferred over. Unfortunately, I didn't remember every name/# to let Ted know what to transfer, hence the clean up I have to go through after the fact. read more

Mobile Kangaroo in San Mateo is a great place to get your phone fixed! I was helped by Ted, who repaired my iPhone (cracked back shell) in about 90 minutes, and was very knowledgeable and personable! In fact, there was a slight problem that I noticed after the repair, and Ted took care of it with aplomb (this took a couple of visits because of the intermittent nature of the problem, but it was resolved!) My computer broke down the night before Apple closed all its store because of the shelter at home order. I spoke to an Apple rep who made an appointment at Mobile Kangaroo. This is so much better than going to the Apple Store! Edmond assisted and diagnosed the problem in 2 minutes so I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Check in was super efficient. Turns out a part needed to be ordered and Edmond informed me that my model also qualified for a new battery and key board as well, so everything could be taken care of with this one drop off. Just got it back quicker than I expected with my computer working even better than before. Edmond made special arrangements to make sure I could be able to get my computer before X-mas. This place is amazing! I first went next door to a repair shop called fast repair where they broke my phone even more and then tried to sell me another one saying that the phone is Un-repairable. What a way to make things right. I have to give it to Ted. He is the reason why this store has a 5-star rating. If it were me, I'd change the name to Ted's Mobile. Sometimes, things don't always go as planned, and they didn't on my first visit. But Ted's ability to recognize that and improve on a difficult situation, even if it isn't his fault, is what gives this store such a high rating. This experience was night and day compared to my last visit. I left a bad review at first. Then the day after, Ted contacted me, hoping to make things right. I took his offer, and dropped off my 2 broken phones today at lunch. Ted fixed the iphone4 in 2 minutes. Later that evening, Ted personally dropped off my HTC to my door to make sure I had a working phone (that same day). He went above and beyond my expectations. He fixed a button problem I was having and custom built a plastic cover that helps charge the phone. This young man deserves every single star on this review. Kangaroo Mobile has a Rockstar on their payroll, and they should recognize that. A lot of places can fix phones and repair tablets, but what sets this store apart is their Customer Service. These days, with all the Wal-Marts, and Targets, and big name companies, customer service is a rarity. Coming here reminds me of how things were, and how they should be, when the customer came first. I cannot take back what I said in my 1st review because it was all true. Either I ran into a case of Murphy's Law, or it was just one of those days. My first visit was to get my phone's screen replaced. Service was quick and the job was done just as described. Didn't give it five stars was because of my second visit. After replacing the screen, the sensory of my phone is a little delayed (not super noticeable but it's obviously different from the original screen). I visited to see if there's anything they could do, and the staff was pretty impolite when telling me that's it's most likely the "software" of your phone, and nothing to do with the screen replacement. Maybe that's true, maybe not - but maybe take some time to see if that's indeed the case instead of brushing me off so quickly? read more
