Troutman Animal Hospital has quickly become our new veterinary office. My fiancé and I got tragic…read morenews about our sweet 3 year old cat, Shadow, she was diagnosed with IMHA by an ER veterinarian. We were instructed to set up weekly visits with our regular veterinarian for tests, when they wouldn't do it, we went to Troutman Animal Hospital. I called them, explained what Shadow was diagnosed with and they immediately jumped to action. The receptionist I spoke with was incredibly kind and you could tell that she loves all the babies that come through those doors. The Tech I spoke with was incredibly supportive, kind and knowledgeable - before even going in she was giving advice and explaining more of the diagnosis than the ER did! The Dr. was phenomenal, she was kind, to the point and thorough! We can't suggest them enough.

We have been guided by Dr. Novosad's advice many times. Just for one example, during off-hours, we recently had an urgent issue with our 13 yo cat, and he ended up being hospitalized overnight at an emergency clinic. Over $2k later, after coming home, he still was having same issues, and the emergency clinic still had no further ideas how to help him; we took him to Troutman Animal Hospital. Dr. Novosad determined his problem and was able to correct it, and he was fine after that. She was also wonderful during the process of treating our very elderly kitty Lucy for her many health conditions and so kind when we finally had to make the hard decision to euthanize Lucy. It IS a very busy animal hospital, but they have always been able to fit me in when we had a concerning issue with one of our pets, which is something I greatly appreciate.

Also, our new puppy, an Irish wolfhound, has recently started seeing her. The whole staff is always so attentive and friendly. Treats are always on hand. Our cats get their annual catnip fix while getting checked out. And it's not just the scheduled appointments! Our wolfhound is growing so fast and they let us stop by whenever we want to get her weighed at no cost. We actually look forward to coming here!

It's very unfortunate having to make this review. I started taking my dog here in 2023 around when…read morethey first opened and I got my first dog. For the first few years they were great, but I'm not entirely sure what happened. Everything was fine when it was just my dog, but then I started owning cats as well. Most notable experience was when my husband found an abandoned kitten (no mother, neighbors said she was dumped). I brought her in immediately for testing and she had mites and tested positive for worms. The problem is, no one communicated to me that she had the worms. No one called me after the test results were in, no one called me to pick up medication, I only found out after I took her in for another checkup around a week later and the vet asked how she was doing with the medicine. Also to mention the decline of phone availability. I remember multiple times I left a message/text asking for a call back, but no one ever did. I had to repeatedly call and leave messages until they did. I then switched vets, in doing so, they didn't send me the full and complete records for my animals. The new vet had to call, and even then, notes and information were missing so I've had to fill in missing pieces from memory. It's really unfortunate, I loved this office at first, but I've had one too many negative experiences to be able to confidently bring my pets back.

Harbor Paws? More like Harbor Pause... Nail Day Canceled…read more I prepaid $249 for a one-year Harbor Paws care plan for my dog. My appointment was confirmed 48 hours in advance, but less than 24 hours later, Tara, the practice manager, told me I was unfit for their practice and that no refund would be given. She said this was because of a previous review I wrote, not anything related to my pet's care. I was denied most of the services I paid for, including doctor visits and nail trims. I've escalated this to corporate and the veterinary board. Potential clients should know prepaid plans here may be canceled at the practice's discretion.

That vet is no longer there. I scheduled her for a teeth cleaning in February. I was called and told my dogs heart rate had dropped to about 10 and she was now in oxygen. They told me she would have to go to the ER vet in Huntersville where she could get extensive care. Apon picking her up she was comatose and they brought her to me wrapped in a blanket. I knew she would not survive the drive to Huntersville and after pleading for them to do something the vet that was supposed to do her cleaning said he would take her with an assistant holding portable oxygen. When I arrived the ER vet attending to her gave her very little chance of survival and was told I could put her to sleep that day. I refused, 4 days and 4 nights, 5000 dollars later she recovered. That is not all. A few days before she was scheduled for her cleaning, they sent me an email stating she was scheduled for euthanasia. Although I was alarmed I brought it to their attention thinking it was an awful mistake. I am beyond upset that this happened and just don't want it to happen to anyone else's animal.
