Mobility Plus is among the best companies out of thousands with whom I have done business over the last fifty years. For more than four years, I searched the Eastern United States for a company that could provide me (84 and partially disabled) with a way to easily load my electric scooter in my SUV. I found none, except Mobility Plus! Companies other than Mobility Plus, even local ones, wanted to sell me a fully automated "mobility van", a converted Chrysler Pacifica, Toyota Sienna, or Honda Odyssey modified with automatic ramps and doors for $70,000-$85,000; too expensive and too prone to malfunction with all the switches and electrical devices (an over-kill for my condition). What I needed was something simple to load an assembled electric scooter into my SUV with little physical effort, something far less expensive. So, I decided to revert back to my employment years as a heavy equipment design engineer (I could find nothing ready to purchase) Researching on the Web, I selected an interior hoist system manufactured by Bruno Independent Living Aids, Inc. and also selected a rare passenger van with an unusually tall and wide cargo area, a Ford Transit Connect. The local mobility dealer in my city was not interested in installing a lift, so I phoned Bruno (the lift manufacturer) who suggested that Mobility Plus in Salem Virginia (fifty miles away) was a Bruno dealer and could help me. To my surprise, Clay Highberger, owner of Mobility Plus and his Son, Scott, were very positive and willing to help me "put together" my custom disability van. Clay researched the vehicle confirming the hoist suitability, gave me a fair price, and ordered a Bruno AWL-150 Wheelchair Lifter. Finding this willing installation dealer provided the green light to take the financial ($37,000) plunge and have the local ford dealer find me a new, well-equipped Transit Connect Passenger Van. They found a new plush LXT in two days and had it shipped in from a neighboring state (I traded my 2020 Mercedes GLA-250 SUV with only 1100 miles (too small to accommodate the scooter) Disabled, I had no way to get the new Transit Connect van from Lynchburg to Mobility Plus in Salem. Going out of his way to help, Clay at MP arranged to have someone drive to my city, bring my van to his shop, and return it to me the next day with the work completed (for a modest transportation price). My all-new custom designed mobility van (a total investment of $39,000) works great! It is easy and safe to use and will keep me mobile for many years. Without Clay and Scott at Mobility Plus, there would have been no solution. These guys are the worst! Or at least technician Clay is. Called twice for a service call on a chairlift at my mom's house. Clay, the technician was not available so requested a call back. Never heard from him. Called again, spoke with Clay, explained that I lived out of town, would need to arrange for someone to meet him and selected a day and time 2 weeks in advance in order to ensure availability. He never showed up! I'm done with these clowns. Incredibly unprofessional and inconsiderate. read more

I contacted this company to come evaluate my mom's mobile wheelchair. The guy I spoke to refused to set a date and said they would just call when they had time to come. A week and a half later I called them again and asked if/when they would be able to look at my mom's chair. They magically said they had time that day. I think they just forgot about it until I called. A friend was available to meet the technician since I could not be there myself. My friend said the technician came and that he would call me. I waited for 3 days but never received a call. I called and spoke with a nice woman on the phone. She gave me an estimate for $500 and said the technician would call me to set up a time to do the work. AGAIN, I never heard from the company! I waited for 5 days before I contacted National Seating and Mobility. National Seating has already evaluated my mom's chair and gave an estimate of only $238 to fix it. Over half the price of Mobility Plus' estimate. To this day I still have not heard from Mobility Plus. I always had to contact them in order to find out anything, they never contacted me. I wanted to support a small business in the Roanoke area, but this company is very unprofessional. read more
