Food was tasty, but nothing special. I got the grouper wrap and it was yummy, but small. The fries were frozen crinkle cut. My girlfriend got the spicy catfish, but it wasn't spicy AT ALL. The hushpuppies were good, though It was kind of pricey, being that you only get ONE piece of catfish for $13 It's not a fancy place at all - like a dive you might find near a port. The service was fine, we were seated promptly and our orders taken. There were a bunch of really loud drunk dudes watching sports on the Sunday afternoon that we stopped in, and it was pretty irritating. Overall, it was decent, but if you're looking for good seafood in Nashville, go to Uncle Bud's in Donelson. read more

Love this place! The atmosphere the lake view and the food!! The clam chowder when it's creamy, is a miss hit sometimes.

I've been to Dicky's a handful of times now, and all-in-all I really enjoy it. The ambiance is a combo of sports bar and local seafood shack like you'll find up & down the east coast. There is also a patio overlooking the lake, complete with a small stage area, cornhole boards, etc. It tends to be a little noisy even when they aren't busy (again, its a sports bar atmosphere) and there's not a separate area for the bar - I've never seen it get rowdy or even remotely "inappropriate", just don't go here expecting a quiet dinner Overall the food is good, freshly prepared, and served at a good temperature. The menu has a good variety for it's size, though it leans a little further towards fried preparation than I'd like in a perfect world. The sides that I've tried so far have been typical food service items, which isn't to say they are bad, but rather just nothing particularly special either. The main dishes we've had are all good and some have a unique flair here & there (example: buffalo drumsticks instead of wings - I prefer dark meat chicken, so this is awesome for me!). Service has always pleasant and efficient, even out on the patio where you can sometimes feel forgotten at other restaurants. The only significant negative is a severe lack of parking capacity - during anything close to peak hours, cars are everywhere - on the curbs, in the grass, and at the building next door. Consequently, there have been several times that we would have eaten there, but couldn't find a place to park. I'd suggest trying them out at a non-peak time, but even if you have to struggle to park, in my opinion Dicky's is worth that small hassle read more

Sitting on the patio looking at the lake and enjoying the summer breeze. I had grilled grouper and hush puppies. Just what I wanted. I'm always up for seafood, but it's hard to find in Middle Tennessee. That's why Moby Dicky's was such a pleasant surprise. I went with my wife and daughter, and we each got something different, and passed it around. We started with the fried calamari and a cup of clam chowder, and both were good. My daughter got a shrimp hoagie and liked it a lot. My wife got the tuna taco and thought it was OK. I liked both, but if I'm in a restaurant that specializes in seafood, I probably want something other than tuna or shrimp. We all agreed that my Moby Dicky (blackened grouper sandwich) was outstanding. Moby Dicky's is definitely a divey lakefront joint, and we thought it was a lot of fun. They had massive garage doors open to their outdoor dining area. However, we were seated by the kitchen, and it was uncomfortably hot. And it was very, very noisy, since people wee having to shout over the loud music. Our waitress and server were delightful, and we really enjoyed talking to them. We will definitely go back, but we'll probably wait until the weather is cooler. read more

Place is small with a few booths and bar height tables and chairs. The bar is long and has several tvs. Ordered grouper fingers for appetizer. It came with a few hush puppies which were good. The grouper were hot but bland corn meal type breading is too thick. The grouper was thin and all you taste is pretty much the breading. The fish tacos are normally tuna but I got the sea bass special. Fish to everything else ratio was poor. Asked for no tomato but they were still there. The best part of the meal was the housemade potato chips...warm and crispy. Sweet tea was too sweet! read more

We came here on a weekday, which was apparently a sports-ball day. They have big TVs despite the tint indoor eating area. The folks at the bar were being kind of loud, which was annoying. I didn't expect this to be a place that has loud sports. I loved the patio area, though we didn't eat outside due to the heat! The patio is gorgeous and overlooks the lake. It's really pretty. And I bet not as loud out there. As for the food, I ordered the catfish which is touted as being super spicy. I couldn't taste a single hint of Spice whatsoever. It was so mild. It didn't taste bad, but it was definitely not what I was expecting it to be. I wasn't all that impressed with this place, though there wasn't anything terribly wrong with it. I was disappointed . If you lower your expectations and just keep in mind it's a local bar with food and not the other way around, you'll be fine. I wasn't expecting fine dining but I was disappointed. The Caesar salad, it's nothing more than bagged, chopped lettuce with bland, mass produced croutons with a bit of cheese shards on top the salad dressing served in the obligatory side cup. I'd like it if the salad was freshly torn and tossed in an authentic Caesar's dressing. The lobster tail appetizer was tiny, the $5 Kroger variety. I ordered the crab legs which weren't over cooked which was nice, however they were almost unbearably salty. The outdoor seating is the obvious draw but even going early, (4:30 on Saturday) it was full and required a wait. I thought this place was worth trying out, decent reviews, local business etc but other than the attentive waitress, there's no reason for going back. read more

I have been to Moby Dickey's about 5 times. Three of those times were with a group of four or less, and if you can sit at the bar, that seems to be your best bet. When we arrived this last time, the manager/ owner said, "We don't do big parties," but if we had 8-10 people, that was ok, and we could get two tables together. We got drinks at the back bar and waited for 1 hour and 25 mins. During that time, I noticed the time it took the hosts to clean and turn tables over was anywhere from 8-15 mins. There were multiple empty tables all over the restaurant. No manager was helping the young hostess logistically with the tables. We were told multiple times that we were coming up next. However, people who have arrived after us were being sat, I assume due improper training or maybe that is just how this restaurant opperates. I asked the hostest, since our table was coming up, if we could sit at that line of tables by the bar. They said that should be ok, so when they said our table was ready, we walked to sit down. They then made us get back up to move outside instead. At this point, we were done being lied to, moved around, and disregarded. Intentional or not, it was a horrible experience, and the indecisiveness of the hostest and lack of help from the manager was apparent. We tried to explain why it was important for us to sit together prior to this. We had driven from the other side of Nashville to attend a memorial for a patient who was from Hendersonville. Our group had spent 9 months with in the ICU trying to save this patient, and most of us spent more time with them than our own family. An entire ICU team who was mourning and just wanted to sit together, talk about his life, and help each other cope, ESPECIALLY after the pandemic. When I told the manager this, she assumed I was trying to pretentious and told me, "She didn't care who we were." I have been in the service industry for 15 years, and I have never had an experience like that, and none of us will be going back. They were not accommodating, and if they disliked groups like that, just tell us to leave and saved our time. It 100% made a bad day worse. If you can sit down their food is pretty good, a little pricey and some of the item prices don't make sense but overall the food is fairly good. read more

Nestled by the creek, this is not a chain restaurant! Yet tv screens line the place if you're wanting to keep up with the local games. A very casual place with great taste! Fried or grilled these guys do it perfectly. Go early for a great seat for dinner. You have to really look for the place, there's no big sign. Good stuff. For us, it's near the house, on a lake. Nice setting. Small, like a little haven you can always trust to make you comfortable. The food is pretty good. A little hit or miss - the main entrees are terrific so far. I've had the salmon and the tuna tacos. The appetizers are a bit less successful. Eating in is great. Carry out not so. The bowl of clam chowder to go is not a bowl but about four tablespoons, not even a cup for the cost of $5.95. The Great Caesar Salad at $6.95 was the size of a side salad. Disappointed with the carry out, but I will continue to visit the establishment for great food and great service. read more

We drove from Mt. Juliet to try this place out, based on reviews and pictures alone....and boy did they not disappoint! Moby Dicky's is the epitome of a seafood restaurant in Tennessee. A small, quaint beach hut-like setting with a great patio; sets a great first impression for dinner. The peel and eat shrimp were BIG and cold, did not disappoint or feel like some small shrimp cocktail you get other places. The oysters, by gawd, we're so big they fell off my crackers! And that was just the appetizers!!! I then, after all those monstrous servings, had the Snow Crab. I eat ALOT of snow crab, and have my entire life. This crab was not only fresh, but came out whole once you cracked them and were so tender, you could slap your mama! Read the reviews and my only reservation was about where to park and that wasn't an issue. Sat at the bar and Melissa could not have been nicer. We really enjoyed this place by the river, so laid back and soothing after a long day in downtown Nashville doin the Honky-Tonk tour. Moby Dicky's is a must visit place. Hendersonville is the land of chain restaurants and boring dining experiences. Not this place! The patio overlooking the lake is shaded and lovely. The interior is a great little lakeside bar feel. The service is fast and friendly. But what surprised me most was the quality of the food. I'll be dreaming about the tuna tacos for weeks. It is excellent seafood, prepared with care. The sauces are flavorful. And the prices are reasonable, especially given the quality. I will definitely make this a regular stopping place. read more
