Mochinut offers a spin to the typical Japanese mochi donuts with an assortment of flavors and toppings. I seen a lot of reviews comparing these to your typical Dunkin' Donuts or any other American style donuts. If that is what you are after, this is not it. These are typically made out of glutinous rice flour or tapioca flour. So the chew is different. If you don't feel comfortable branching away from your typical American cuisine and exploring desserts from other countries then maybe this is not for you. I got the strawberry funnel donut and the potato original corn dog. The service was quick and the workers were kind and did a great job explaining all the different sauces to the side that you can add to your corn dog. Decided to try this place for a work treat for my coworkers. The workers or the owners are extremely nice and patient with you. Myself along with another lady came in for the first time. We both were educated separately about the items without feeling rushed. I ordered a dozen of mochinuts in a variety of flavors. Price was $30 bucks without tax. The taste however wasn't my favorite - I guess I'm too used to regular donuts for me to get on this wagon HOWEVER the other lady enjoyed hers and continued to order more along with drinks while she called on her friends to meet her to enjoy on her new found gem of treats. (Yes, I was being nosey but it's for a good cause, lol) Inside definitely looked clean and I used to frequent the previous restaurant that was there before so I actually notice they did a nice job with slight updates. 1-Star Review for Mochinut - Apopka, FL I had a truly disappointing experience at this location. I arrived at 7:30 PM (they close at 9), only to find they were completely out of donuts. When I asked the young lady at the counter if more would be made, she simply said, "No." I decided to order two Korean corn dogs instead--specifically the original mozzarella cheese ones, as listed on the sign. I clearly said "original cheese," and she repeated it back. I asked how long it would take and was told five minutes. I waited in my car a bit longer than that, went back in, picked up the order, and drove 30+ minutes home. When I got home, I handed one of the corn dogs to my daughter--only to discover both corn dogs contained meat. My daughter is a vegetarian and doesn't eat meat, so the entire order was ruined. I called the store immediately. A young woman answered, and I explained what happened. She located the order but casually said, "Oh, she probably didn't hear you say cheese." I paid in cash and wasn't even given a receipt. When I asked what could be done, I was told, "There's nothing we can do. Sorry. She makes mistakes sometimes." Seriously? That's the response? No offer to fix the order, no apology for the inconvenience, and no sense of customer care. I drove out of my way, paid money for something I didn't receive, and all I got was a brush-off. It's frustrating and honestly insulting to be treated like my business doesn't matter. I've been to the Sand Lake location many times and never had an issue. They get it right and treat their customers with respect. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the Apopka location. This was my first time--and it will be my last time visiting this location. This was a solid find. I went twice and ordered a couple different items. My favorite would be the Korean dogs with the cheese inside. My young daughter had to try the hot Cheetos cheese. Stopped by here for a quick treat and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was! They have quite a few different items to try - donuts, corn dogs, drinks, soft serve, and coffee - so there's something to satisfy every craving. We tried the donuts and corn dogs. There were still lots of flavors to choose from even when we came later in the evening at around 7pm. The donuts were pretty tasty as well. However, despite their focus being donuts I think the true stars of the show were the corn dogs. PLEASE do yourself a favor and try the sweet potato corn dog - it was absolutely delicious!! My only regret is not getting a second one so I didn't have to share haha. They have quite a few sauces available to add even more flavor as well!! Service was also nice and prompt. We waited for them to open and it was worth the wait! We had time this weekend to go and it did not disappoint. The location is cute and has a little bit of seating. The staff were excited for us to visit and very welcoming. All of the Korean corndogs are made to order, so it takes a few minutes but well worth it. It's delicious and the cheese pulls are epic. Came today on opening day and it was crowded to be expected for their first day and I got the strawberry and I'm guessing peanut butter donut it's weird when I asked the girl who worked there what that was she has no idea and there's no sign but also the other frustrating part was that she was not doing drinks in order so other people that ordered after me got their drinks before me but when I finally got everything I took it home to try it since to was too crowded inside and both the donuts and my brown sugar boba was good. It was good! I've had better Korean corn dogs. That being said I did not try their crazy flavors like hot Cheetos or Takis Koran corn dog. I also think they messed up my Ube milk tea... The food quality and taste is good but not amazing. I think the ingredients could be fresher or better quality for sure for the full 5 stars. The ambience inside the restaurant is really cute, the music is poppy, the lights and decorations are for sure popping and cute. I probably wouldnt take a first date here but it's fun to stop in. They have a great menu option! They have donuts, boba, and those fried mozzarella and hotdogs with super fun toppings. The service was good, he wasn't the friendliest dude but when we left he made sure to wish us goodbye which was sweet. Mochinut is amazing! The first time I went in, a female was super helpful in recommending stuff that I would like based on my preferences. The donuts taste great and they even have the Dubai chocolate bars! I was so happy with my first visit, I reached out to the manager about holding a meeting for my travel group there and he was so welcoming! (Thank you!!) They said there's possibly a problem with the app. And literally just walked away and said there was nothing they could do. So I got in my car at 8:30 at night and drove out here for nothing. Everything you'd expect out of a mochi donut. Super cute, and tasty. Love the texture & LOVED that they are so easy to pull apart to share, brought a bunch over to share with family. The only one I didn't like, was the fruity pebble looking one. It tastes like a candle. Don't do it. Also snagged a regular milk tea with boba, the best I've had in a long time and didn't water down super easily. I must say i fell in-love the first time i came. The boba was good and the donuts were great. However when i came to try to korean takis covered dog it was extremely disappointing. You would think they would be fresh considering how long it took to make. There was no crunch. Completely soggy and drenched in oil, the cheese didnt even pull. I have gone twice since then. Both times the boba was absolutely disgusting. They are not training these people on how to make it. The first time the boba was very expanded and didnt fit through the straw plus the taste was off. The second time I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and got a boba drink again HUGEEE mistake. My boba was a mix of hard bobas and the weird over sized bobas, my boyfriends drink which was in the same order was horrible as well. Not one single boba fit through his straw. This place has potential for sure but it seems like they just let it go down the drain once the grand opening was over with. The only reason i gave one star is cause to mochi donuts are the only thing saving them!!!!! Also yelp didnt allow me to.
