Been coming to Donut King off and on for the past 11 years I've lived in Orlando. Fancy donut places come and go, but Donut King is forever. Consistent in quality like a blue chip stock that you hold onto for 35 years. Ambiance is great. Storefront is in a dingy strip mall, but inside is a wall of donuts that looks like the Great Wall of China in donut form. A formidable display of deliciousness that will make your day better from the very start. Service is equally as formidable. There are always a ton of people in line, but they serve their way through them very quickly and efficiently. Very nice folks, and they always seem to have everything in stock. The donuts themselves are the best part. Soft, airy, topped with the perfect amount of toppings, filled with the perfect amount of fillings, and there are a few truly unique offerings that are very intriguing. You just can't go wrong. 10/10 donut king is the absolute best. I bought a house just down the road a few years ago and their donuts fueled my renovation. Every weekend when we came up to do work we had to stop in and get a dozen and it definitely was the right way to start the weekends! They have so many options for all types of donuts, they are all good, but for me you can't go wrong with a classic Boston crème! I will say the maple bacon was a little odd for my taste. The employees are always so helpful in picking the assortment we want, while there is almost always a line (because they are so delish!) they work through it quickly and you're never waiting to long! Came back again after some time and still super happy with this place! I do wish they had a location closer to me but honestly just glad I can find a place with the classic donuts I grew up with! Let's be honest from now on when I am in the winter park area as I mentioned before I always stop at donut King. Sadly today they were out of Boston cream so I was able to get a Bavarian cream- I also got a double chocolate doughnut, a twisty doughnut, A sandwich cream pie large triangle donut with a cherry on top - I honestly have no idea what it is it just looked really good. I also got A brown sugar and cinnamon fried square shaped donut, and I got a chocolate with chocolate Oreo on top doughnut. I honestly can't wait to try a couple of these and I did get one for a friend. My fiancé is going to love the rest of the donuts. The lady at the counter was super nice. They almost always have all of their donuts. The ambience of donut king is a small I'm gonna say locally owned donut shop I know they have one in Winter Park one in Claremont and one I believe in the Tampa area. This area of FL is a homemade donut waste Land. If you think Dunkin (they are everywhere) has good donuts then don't go here as you obviously do not appreciate homemade donuts. I travel a lot to areas that have plenty of mom and pop donut shops (think Austin or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Rhode Island, CT) and this place is in the top 5. It's in a weird location in terms of not near anything that would catch your eye but it is worth searching it out. The donuts are fresh (3 times the size of dunkin) and at $13 a dozen it's a bargain. I have a real love-hate relationship with this place. When it's good, it's so good -- the donuts are fresh, fluffy, and easily a 10/10. But when it's bad, it's really disappointing. Out of about five visits, two or three times the donuts tasted over-fried or even burnt. It feels hit or miss depending on the day. If you're a donut aficionado in the O-town area, you probably have already heard of or even tried Donut King. I've purchased donuts here several times and really appreciate the variety, the taste, the friendly help and the affordability. Donut King is strategically situated in what I'd term a "donut desert." No "true" donut offerings exist in this area. Only Publix and Dunkin' are close by. Yes, some might argue about my observation, but Donut King is the only place dedicated to donuts first. I've even heard friends and co-workers exclaim "I didn't know this place existed!" even though they've driven by the store. Both raised and cake donuts are offered. My daughter wanted to try this place.. a lot of her friends from school always talk about it. So today after her basketball game we decided to go and get some. I was expecting it to be busy but to my surprise we were the only ones. A young man came from the back and greeted us. His name is Leo. Very nice! Very helpful! And was super patient as we picked out our flavors. He was a great first impression! And you dont find too many like Leo.. especially nowadays. And then on top of that.... The donuts were delicious! We stopped by last night on the way home from dinner to pickup a dozen donuts. Walked in, no one was there, a woman walked out from the back and inquired what we wanted. . . we picked our donuts, paid, she turned around and walked back through the kitchen door and that was it. Donuts are great, as always, but while the service usually is consistently 'ok' to decent, this long-haired blond woman (if i remember right) was NOT a bit happy to be working/providing services. Always wanted to visit this spot and needed to make my way downtown to winter park area to try it out. Finally got to stop in. Upon arrival , felt like they had a great variety and choices to choose from their donut selections. Great little area located in a plaza , but a little quiet and seemed empty. We ordered a six pack with strawberry, almond crunch , fruity pebbles, Twix, Oreo , and a Bavarian cream. All tasted great, but I did feel they were all a bit cold and hard. Other than that , service was great and she recommend all the good flavors because they still have me the best sugary and sweet satisfaction. Bavarian cream had about 1 tablespoon of filling. Flavors were not there at all and the rest of the donuts aren't even worth mentioning by name. My son asked for a grasshopper and the woman behind the counter suggested that he try one of the donuts that kids normally enjoy.
