Fresh, delicious donuts a short drive away from me is a very dangerous thing (lol). This morning, I was up and at it early and decided to treat myself to a lemon-filled from King's Donuts here in Mt. Dora. So very good! Friendly staff on-site to help you pick your new favorite. Remember when other donut shops had variety? Well, King's does and I will return for an apple or raspberry-filled or both. And they have kolaches available! Score! I'd seen other comments about the price of each donut - mine today was about $3. Now, I get if you think that's a bit much for a donut. HOWEVER, mine was the freshest donut I'd had in recent memory, it was HUGE (the size of my hand), and the filling was fresh and plentiful. Dunkin donuts who?? This place is phenomenal! Everything you would expect from a small family owned donut shop and more. The donuts are delicious and the staff are so friendly. My husband and I have to make a conscious effort not to come here multiple times a week (can't say we're always successful in that). The apple fritter was the best Ive ever had! Not greasy at all and had the perfect crunch to soft ratio. I went back and bought a second bc it was that good. Donuts are fresh, light and fluffy. If we hadn't eaten them so quickly there would be pictures. I have tried every local donut since moving to Central FL 4 years ago and gave up hope that I would ever find a donut to rival my beloved Donut Queen in Vacaville, CA. I WAS WRONG!! King's Donut is everything I love about donuts. Not overthought, light, pillowy, yeasty amazing donut with rich, flavorful chocolate (chocolate twist). Slightly crispy exterior, tender inside, just the right amount of glaze (blueberry cake). And OMG... the apple fritter... holy cow, every bite was crispy, glazed, apple perfection. Even if you can't go early enough to get them warm (but so worth getting up early for), the freshness and flavor hold up through the day. If you want a donut above, run don't walk!!! read more

Pretty expensive donuts. There is up charge for donuts with filling and toppings. Menu said half dozen for $8 and total came out to be $15 with the up charge. For this price going to the local specialty in Mt Dora is a better quality for your money. read more

Most eateries in Mount Dora are mediocre at best. King's is out of this world. Who would ever go to Dunkin' Donuts when you have this place?! I had two glazed donuts that were fluffy, light, moist, and BIG. My husband had a sour cream and a red velvet donut and he said they were fresh and tasty. The staff is super nice.
