My quest for quality at a fair price led me to Mockingbird Paperie... I even price matched with a larger well-known stationary supplier here in California and Mockingbird Paperie offered better prices so I knew I was going to get a good deal. What I wasn't expecting was to interact with such kind and generous individuals. My experience with this shop has been nothing but stellar. Their selection is wonderful and the website was easy to navigate. The staff was friendly and helpful when I called with some questions. My items arrived all the way to California packaged with care, everything in perfect order. I will definitely be back, and my only regret is that this isn't my local shop. But it's definitely one I have added to my list of places to visit. read more

By and far my favorite shop on the Ithaca Commons. Though I don't often have the paper to splurge on fancy stationary (pun intended,) I enjoy browsing all the beautiful and interesting things they have in store. Pretty letterhead, handmade greeting cards, and wrapping paper that could double as art are all staples in this shop, but they also carry a shifting stock of boutique gift items like (amazing smelling) perfume and candles, jewelry, books. Really cute store, really mean staff!! The sleeve on a notebook my fourteen-year-old sister was looking at accidentally slipped off (something completely fixable, completely accidental, and in no way damaging to the product) and the woman working here was so rude and snarky! My sister apologetically tried to put the sleeve back on the notebook and the woman huffed, "Just leave it. I might as well just do it myself." We quickly left. Such a shame the woman was so sarcastic and miserable because the store was beautiful. read more

Google hours said 10 am. Got there at 10:45 but door said 11:00. Came back at 11:15, still closed. Another person was waiting at the door saying that she tried to come once before but found the hours weren't correct. No sign on door, no heads up on Instagram. Understand that things come up but please post accurate hours and be mindful of people paying for parking. read more

Having lived in and near cities where French spelling is used more to impress - no where I was raised, of course - I told myself not to have any expectations while googling the directions to Mockingbird Paperie. As I approached the store front and peered through the windows before going in, I was almost instantly relieved. I saw nothing but paper and the dark wood upon and from which a select but varied range of products were placed or hung. Finally, a US-based small business that knows how to use foreign vernacular (Hyperbolic? It's debatable.). I wanted special wrapping paper for a birthday gift and was politely shown several stands of quality sheets, hanging so heavy that you could see the thickness without needing to feel it for proof. The ones which caught my eye had hues that could've been from Norman Rockwell's palette (Can a color be rich but muted at the same time?) and patterns that you might've chosen to wallpaper a room from the 1940s. So pretty. I ended up getting a cute little gift bag and white tissue paper. There wasn't a wide selection to choose from, but when you're able to find something "just right" you're in a store with a buyer who knows what's hot, what's not, and what's classic. But true to the name, and as I was reminded, Mockingbird Paperie puts paper first, so there was a reason why I was able to find the best gift bag for my needs among a small inventory. Warning to green shoppers with cloth bags: You will be tested. I went in with my raggedy Trader Joe's tote but couldn't resist walking out with the paper shopping bag, a painted floral print of blended blues, purples, and neutrals. I'm glad this store is so close. I was pressed for time, so I couldn't browse today, but it's a shop I'd where I'd love to spend a bit of free time to get a good look at everything. read more

This place is just exquisite! It's actually difficult to believe that Ithacards, which was a run-of-the-mill local card shop, has metamorphosed into this! What a sea change! I've been shopping at/visiting Mockingbird Paperie for more than 4 years, and have always felt fortunate for the experience. Mockingbird Paperie is truly something special, and, even if one doesn't go there with a specific purpose or end up buying anything, it's truly a pleasure to just be in there. I love to just hang out and explore. The best! I'm the sort of person who cleaves to books and paper, fountain pens, leather-bound journals, etc, so they kind of had me at "stylo," but this place is like a friggin' playground, not only for people who like cards and stationery and cool pens, but for people who NEED to have contact with beautiful things of all sorts. You sort of can't go wrong because they've done such a great job of sourcing unbelievably cool stuff. They have these amazing Voluspa candles--to which I'm now addicted--hand cream, necklaces, earrings, ornaments, etc. I also have to say that I've been to stationers all over the world, and this place consistently has the best--most beautiful, funniest, most well made--card selection I've ever seen. I just stand there and laugh like an idiot at some of these hilariously clever and bawdy cards. Of course, when it came to have invitations printed for my wedding, I was thrilled to be able to work with the owner, Suzanne, who is a goddess, knows her business backwards and forwards, and TURNED IT OUT, producing the most beautiful letterpress invitations, which they then mailed for us. This store is just a joy all the way around, and I actually feel lucky to be able to shop there. This place just raises the bar for the whole Commons and probably Ithaca in general. read more

I work in customer service and let me tell you i have had my fair share of horrible experiences. I left a message at the store looking for a tokyo milk perfume which i have not been able to find at ANY stores in ithaca.The owner text me and said they were closed for the holidays ( it was Christmas time!) but that they would check for it and get back to me.They did, the owner stayed in contact with me this whole time! today is Feb 13!! My busy schedule and crazy life didn't allow me to get there any sooner unfortunately .I am going there today to pick up 3 bottles of the perfume and i couldn't be happier with my experience. I Love the store , the owner and the awesome genuine customer service! Please visit the store , they are a great local business that i want to be around forever!!! read more
