Quaint little place with a great story. Ask the owner mike. They roast their own coffee so I went for an americano. Loved it. Also had a burrito with a tortilla the size of Texas. My wife had a drip coffee with bis quits and gravy on the side. What a great little place. read more

We ran across this fun little shop on our way from Santa Fe. It was a delicious reprieve from gas station food. The food was good. The service was amazing, and in house roasted coffee tasted smooth and exactly as I had hoped from a local coffee shop. They were very accommodating for our young kids, even when they made a mess. As a local and often customer, it's a great little family owned and ran business. They have their off days as anyone does. But 99% of the time they are perfect. As a family they do have to close the doors for special events for their kids at the schools. If you're in Clayton, I highly recommend stopping by and trying their fraps and smoothies. Had some days to kill here while Pops was working. Stopped by here three times and got my jug refilled. Perfect Americano every time. Great stop for lunch with a lot close by to park the travel trailer! We had a tasty freshly made southwestern chicken salad and a club sandwich (it was HUGE!) Latte was smooth and hot. Eat here and avoid the fluorescent lit boxes. read more

Mocks is a classic american tasty coffee and food stop. Its a must through Clayton. If you're not looking for it you will miss it. Its tucked away on a corner a block from main. Rustic and polite. The owners favorite croissant sandwich is with sausage. And rightly so. I agree. Their espresso is smooth and subtle. There is NOT a strong pungent shocking bitter flavor. Its a light body and sweet aroma. I reckon a latte with a raw sugar would suffice and be a perfect balance of taste and caffeine. read more

We have stopped here twice while on vacation and have been extra pleased at finding such a great coffee shop on our route. The lady running it is friendly and helpful, but most importantly the coffee was terrific. We stayed in Clayton on a trip across country, went looking for a good cup of coffee in the morning. Found Mock's and we're very impressed! Good coffee, great fresh pastries, and real nice folks. Took a pound of their Cowboy whole bean coffee (they roast it there) home, and now wish I'd bought more! Not a lot going on in Clayton, but this place is worth finding. read more

Super friendly staff. Amazing coffee!!! Got a vanilla latte and caramel macchiato which were delicious and hot! Also ordered biscuits in gravy which had a nice flaky biscuit and yummy sausage gravy. The current owners (Mocks) have really turned things around since taking ownership of the cafe earlier this year. The drinks are always made perfectly and the food is great! I've had some of their breakfast as well as their lunch offerings, and never have been disappointed. Very nice place for a morning/early afternoon coffee and/or meal. We spent the night in Clayton and stopped for a fix on our way out of town the next morning. We sat down to a breve and dark roast with the owners and retired postmaster. Enjoyed hearing about the local businesses and their coffees. Gotta love a roaster in a small town. Took a bag of Cowboy roast with us. Highly recommend. read more

Great espresso. Full flavor, thick, creamy, not bitter. They also smoke their own meats, one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had, smoky, tender meat. Homemade biscuits at breakfast.
