Reasonably priced, great food, friendly staff, right on the highway. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and the Smokey Hamburger.

Wonderful breakfast. Eggs cooked to order, homemade wheat toast. Homemade sausage that was the best sausage I have had in quite awhile! Service was great, coffee was hot! Bathrooms clean! Couldn't have asked for anything else! We will return, maybe next time for lunch! read more

I was not expecting anything that good in such a tiny little town. I think the people running the restaurant might be Amish or a similar religious group? But the food is all home made & over the top good. Very reasonable prices. My husband had a huge piece of peanut butter pie, the special of the day, for $3. We've make it a point to stop here on the way to Dallas/Ftworth. Menu is simple - hamburger and chicken fried steak are great. We got a chance to talk to some of the waitresses over the last few years. They are members of Mennonite families that have farms nearby. Unlike the Amish, the Mennonite are allowed run a business. The men run the farms. Other Mennonite families are spread out in W Texas. The ladies in the restaurant are very friendly. This place deserves 10 stars !! read more

The names says it all. It is a diner where you can get a comforting meal on the road. This is not cuisine. This is road food. The exterior is simple as is the inside. It appears to be run by a friendly husband, wife and daughter. My wife had the chicken fried steak special. I ordered the hamburger all the way with fries because we were greeted with the "hamburgers sizzling on an open grill" smell when we walked in. Her chicken fried steak was very good with delicious white gravy. The accompanying mashed potatoes were fresh, homemade mashed potatoes like I make at home. The burger was very good rivaling my favorite from Salty Dawg back in Tallahassee. I would stop here any time I was passing this way. read more

We stopped there on our way from Pueblo to Houston, the food was very, very reasonably priced. The service slow as far as waiting on tables. You could eat off the bathroom floors so with all the good things we could overlook the speed of service. I failed to mention that the food was very good! read more

Stopped here on our travels across country. Conveniently located in the middle on no where (we were so happy to finally come across somewhere to eat, we were starving) plenty of parking (RV, Trailer parking) which was very convenient for us! It was quaint diner atmosphere with homemade everything!!! The yeast roll was awesome. I got the hamburger steak with mash potatoes and green beans (not out of a can). We loved our breakfast at this restaurant! They provide homemade strawberry jam and it is amazing. There are teeny tiny slices of strawberries in the jam, and it is not too sweet. If you are traveling from Amarillo, wait the 120 miles and eat here at The Front Porch. Very nice staff, clean establishment and the plants add to the "home feel." We were passing through from south Texas and just happened upon this establishment. It was good quality and price. Service was very good.

Way back when, this was a cafe serving the town of Texline, the railroaders, and travelers. My grandmother served as a short order cook while my mom and aunts served as waitresses. Then the railroad stopped stopping and the cafe closed. I was traveling through town when I realized that the cafe has reopened under a new name. A brief visit to the gas station brought the news (gossip) that the cafe was reopened by the Mennonites of the community. The porch is new to the cafe and it's well-built with cheerful hanging baskets of pink flowers. There's space to watch the traffic passing by and a couple of picnic tables to enjoy eating outdoors. Inside the cafe, a few changes have been made. The dark paneling has been painted over. The booths are mostly the same but the tables have tablecloths now. The sweet tea was delicious and freshly made. The waitresses and cooks were all sweet Mennonite ladies. The hamburgers (I had a bacon cheeseburger while my partner had a Southwestern burger) were well-made and not frozen. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was tempted by the fresh buttermilk pie but too full to eat anything more. The price was decent, especially since it's so difficult to get fresh vegetables in Texline. I'll be back! read more

We were really hoping for homemade from scratch food. Maybe that was my mistake not getting a burger (that other had mentioned ) Will try again next time through.
