3 stars. Mod Beauté Studios is a super cute location, and I really like the overall vibe, especially with it being in a historic building. I had my makeup done here and absolutely loved it. The artist did a great job, and I was very happy with the results. However, my experience with hair was not the same. For the price, I was not blown away with the outcome. I also noticed that the upstairs area, where hair services were done, felt a bit dirty and not very well maintained. I understand it is an older building, but cleanliness should still be a priority, and some areas felt a little grimy. Downstairs seemed much better kept, so the experience definitely felt inconsistent depending on the service. Overall, I would return for makeup, but I would not come back for hair services. read more

One of the main components that I love about MOD Beaute Studio is the staff members, from the welcome at the door to check out. They are accommodating in getting me an appointment that would work with my schedule. The stylists truly are skilled, friendly and care about me, not just as a customer, but as a person. You can tell that they care about not just satisfying, but delighting their clients. I feel as if I am among friends throughout my visit. The atmosphere is very pleasant from the decor made comfortable and appealing to the warm friendly vibe of the staff who never disappoint, regardless of the services performed. I needed to find a new salon and stylist. A co worker recommend this salon and Leslie to me. MOD Beaute Studio is located in beautiful downtown Summerville. Private parking is available, as we all know how hard parking can be in the area. So already several stars for that! I had called last week to get a appointment with Leslie for a color consultation and trim. MOD Beaute Studio is located in a cute house (actually 2 houses). Next door is also a part of the salon but more a boutique called "FLY"....offering trendy clothes, jewelry, purses. They have a couple salon chairs off to the rear of the boutique (this is where I first met Leslie) this area is very private but also offers a great view of the boutique and the goings on in this busy adorable boutique! This place is so chic and classy! Loved the "loft" feel and the open beamed ceiling with exposed duct work and brick. Clothes and jewelry everywhere, oh my!! The owner was extremely friendly as well. I was asked if I had appointment and I said yes, with Leslie. I was taken next door to another adorable house/shop to meet Leslie. Upon entering I was once again greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome. Great, we are off to a incredible start! If this is any idea on how good the stylists are, I'm going to come out a new lady!! Leslie was so friendly and very knowledgeable. She asked me what I wanted and I showed her some pics online etc. What I really liked about Leslie is that she asked me really important questions about what I didn't like about my current hair and made " suggestions" based on my needs. Leslie was also very honest about what would and would not work with my skin tone, natural hair color and the condition of my hair etc, a TRUE consult!! We decided on the colors together and she proceeded to do my color and highlights. Leslie told me everything she was doing to my hair step by step. I asked lots of questions and she didn't seem to mind, even those "stupid" questions we might ask. Lol. The process was flawless, and my hair was just what I imagined it would be. MOD Beauté Studio is an amazing salon with great stylists and staff. This has been my regular place for years and years and would recommend them to anyone looking for a new salon. I always see Margie, the owner and master stylist and trust her completely. I've had the following services done at the salon: MOD Shape = $38-$68, MOD Color = $48-$78, MOD Wave = $88-$118, MOD Brow Wax = $18, MOD Mini Mani = $20...all professionally done and I so recommend. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful and get you through the check-in/check-out quickly. Only the finest products (Oribe, Moroccan Oil, R+Co, V-76, Smith & Cult Nail Lacquer and their own MOD makeup line). The hubby also gets his hair cut here and loves his look, $28-$38. I loved my daughter's hair stylist Katie. The only problem that I encounter last week was that my appointments were canceled and in was left a message letting me know about it the reason of the cancelation was because I had pass my cancelation appointments I had no idea that they had a cancelation policy I was never told about it. This appointment was so important for my daughter since her graduation is next week. I try to talk to the owner but she did not want to work anything out with me even when I explained her the reason why I had to canceled my previous appointment. I have been trying to get in touch with Katie but for some reason they don't let me talk to her. She is loosing her clients and money. read more

The salon itself is super cute. Very relaxed, calming atmosphere. The people who work there are super sweet too. The manicure itself though...eh. The tech was very nice, the color options weren't overwhelming (not the typical rainbow wall with the 6 different shades of pink that all look the same but are juuuust slightly different - you know what I'm talking about), and the salon definitely looked clean. But when I pay $30 for a manicure, I don't expect it to start looking like I did it myself within a week, fading from the tips and chipping ever so slightly. I wanted to treat myself after a rough week at work, which is why I went to a salon. Could've done this myself honestly and saved myself some money. But it was a nice environment. read more

Been to a lot of different salons in the Summerville area and this is the only one who consistently hires talented stylists. Shelly fixed a super bad cut I had received at a different salon. Now she cuts mine and my daughters hair and she is friendly, listens to what you want and looks at pictures and can replicate what you ask her to. In addition, the Barber area works well for my son, who has a hard time getting his haircut. Nikki is patient and efficient with him. Highly Recommend!!! read more

I took my daughter here for a color correction. Around March, her hair was double bleached and over the last few months, she took advantage of that and put funky colors in. Her hair was SO damaged! I took her in for a consult with Jillian. They decided they could get her close to the color she wanted which was a red with more brown toward the roots. Because of the previous damage, it initially didn't hold as well as we liked although we LOVED the color. They let her come in and put another bit of red on and it looks amazing! They went above and beyond for her to be happy and were dealing with a mess to begin with. We are so happy to have found them and will be back! read more

Everyone who works there will listen to exactly what you want and help you meet that goal. If something may not work the way we may think it will (fiancé has curly hair, so a specific short cut he wanted wouldn't have worked with his hair type), the stylists at Mod do an excellent job of matching what would work best for you while still actually listening to what you want.
