The manager Jesse Corpus , is a snake who doesn't care about customer service. He over charged for extra hours because his movers could not move everything in 4 hours. They purposely send only two guys so they can say " oh well its gonna take more than 4 hours, we are gonna charge you more hours". I contracted this business to help me move. They sent one less worker and one who didn't know how to pack or move items to the truck. I have antiques and was told by the owner that they would WRAP and SECURELY MOVE my property. That turned out to NOT BE TRUE. Pack your own items. I found the workers to be unresponsive, careless, rushed (didn't wrap items or even help pack boxes as I WAS TOLD when setting up the order). They quit before everything was packed and moved. They stole some of my valuables which I didn't realize for weeks because the boxes were pushed and stacked against the walls. I must have looked like a convenient target. Terrible- they use a 3rd part dispatcher to communicate and obtain your quote. I clearly explained I needed a very large dresser hoisted down one floor and up one floor at our new house. His movers couldn't do the job, never requested or asked to bring anybody out to solidify the quote was correct, brought incorrect equipment, and accused me putting his moving crew in danger because they brought a hoist that only went up halfway to the second floor?? They still charged my credit card immediately upon leaving our house for full labor and hoisting charges while the job isn't done. They don't know what they are doing. It's the second time we've used Mod Movers. This one was a big one...430 miles in California. Manuel and Javier arrived exactly on time and loaded our entire house in just about 2 hours. (We "packed" ourselves.) Absolutely professional , courteous, and careful with our belongings. They unloaded everything the next morning at 7:15 am, finishing by about 9am. It's been a year since our move which had me reflecting on this experience. I was pushed very hard to write the review immediately but I wish I had waited since we found a couple broken items and a very significant scratch in the floor. We did contact them about the scratch and they refunded one hundred dollars. Helpful but not enough to cover repairs. All this to say, I'd likely use them again but would not review immediately and would inspect floors and walls before them leaving. read more

Requested a quote for a move. They asked for a list of items to move which we provided. They gave us a lower quote than others we received, without coming by in person. Their quote also indicated a bunch of different add-ons like fuel and a fee for a second stop. I might have entertained their quote, but I was barraged by calls, emails, and texts shortly after I received the quote, and then for a week while I was getting the other quotes. It was way too much. And then after I contacted them to let them know I had chosen another mover, they indicated they could lower the price, which rubbed me the wrong way. read more

Marleen is the owner of this business and for that exact reason I would NEVER recommend Mod Movers to anyone. Her employers gave my tenant incorrect information which caused confusion on the day of the move. In an effort to resolve the issue I called and was talked to in the most inappropriate manner. I put Marleen on speaker so that others could hear the yelling. After several minutes I simply hung up the phone. Upset by my refusal to further the conversation she started bullying, threatening, and harassing my tenant. My tenant signed a new contract for an updated amount that reflected the work that needed to be done. Because I am paying for the move Marleen demanded that I sign the contract, an arrangement that was not required when I submitted the deposit. I refused and in anger Marleen threatened to charge us for the original higher amount, she told the movers to stop working, and then tried to charge my card before the work was done. Luckily my debit card will not approve unknown charges more than 5000 dollars, which is a bank policy and not insufficient funds. Not only were her actions unprofessional but also ILLEGAL. After a quick call to my lawyer, I called Marleen and reminded her of what the contract stated. She began lying about the reasons she charged our card early and said she would try again when the move was complete "if that's what I wanted to do". She also said that she would immediately send us to collections if the transaction declined. A professional company might first call the customer and resolve the manner in a normal way- maybe suggest using another card or breaking up the payments or asking the bank to approve this specific transaction. This experience was so over the top awful. By none responsive she means I did not call or text her back after I hung up on her for screaming at me. In a matter a seconds she increases the price and responds in all caps. Marleen is not okay! read more

I have a Rav 4 and planned to haul a 6x12 trailer with large furniture items and store small items in a rented storage unit. The move was going to take two trips over the next few months. But forget about that! Izzy, concerned about to cost and travel time offered to disabled furniture and pack the trailer for one trip and no additional storage fees!! What the what. I hired this company recently to move two large pieces of furniture upstairs. Before I say anything about their pricing I will first give them credit that the movers showed up on time and did a good job. I picked Mod Movers in part based on their lower advertised hourly rates. I was quoted $120/hr for a minimum of two hours. I knew my move would take a lot less than two hours but I understand that companies have to have minimums to justify coming to your house. $240 seemed like a reasonable price for what I needed done so I booked them. My first concern was when they tacked on a $40 fuel surcharge to the quote even though the move was completely inside my house. Even with that charge $280 still seemed reasonable so I agreed. After the move (which took 30 minutes) I got another surprise. I was charged and additional half our at $120/hr for the movers driving time. So even though the move was completed using only 30 minutes of the two hours I paid for, I was charged for an additional half hour. Meaning this company actually has a 2.5 hour minimum. And to top it off they charge a 5% fee to pay with credit card. The final tally was $340 for 30 minutes of moving furniture. As I said before they showed up on time and did a good job, and these extra fees probably wouldn't make much of a difference in a larger move. They just came as a surprise to me and soured what would have been a five star experience. read more

These guys used some strange form of intimidation and bullying to charge far more without my authorization. A police report needed to be filed, a cease and desist, and a final call from police was given to the owner and her hired men to stop contact. I wonder if they have used reputation management services to get their reviews up on google, because the yelp reviews (which are very few) seem very different then the google reviews. read more

Fantastic movers. I called MM to get an estimate. While on the phone detailing what was being moved Marlene Corpus emailed the estimate. I had spoken with over half-dozen moving companies, all appeared disinterested in working, Marlene was the first to not only respond but explain their policy. At 6:25 am moving day, Luis called to say they would be at my house shortly. At 6:50 am Luis and crew arrived. These guys loaded the truck in an orderly manner, were polite and courteous the entire time. The same applied on the 2.5 hour drive to deliver my furnishings. These guys were amazing. The crew of Andrew, JJ, and Louis were extremely professional, friendly, articulate, and cared about every detail of the process. I had just used another mover (with 4+ stars on Yelp) about a month ago, and it was NIGHT AND DAY how much better MOD Movers was. Some highlights that really stood out: - The estimation process, communication beforehand - was extremely helpful & clear. You can tell this is a top notch organization, with some good technology behind the scenes to keep everything in order. - Andrew and team were GREAT! Towards the end of the move, they even took special care of a very important painting, and made a special second trip to ensure it wasn't damaged when the truck was getting full. - They helped us move a dresser out of the garage in our new house to an upstairs bedroom that wasn't even a part of the move! And through all this, I was fully expecting the charges to come in many hundreds of dollars above what the original estimate was (I even added some items I forgot to tell them about until the morning of the move). And GUESS WHAT? The charge was 20% *UNDER* what I was estimated - even with the second truck run! INCREDIBLE. Will only use MOD Movers in the future again. Top notch organization. read more
