BEWARE - The owner, Marcus, is incredibly unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. We had a second appointment for a pickup, and he arrives demanding the check from the first pickup a couple weeks prior. I informed him that we mailed the check to his office the week prior. He said, while wearing glasses indoors, avoiding eye contact, and speaking sternly, and "I ain't picking up anything until I get payment from the first time." I said, "Are you sure you haven't received it, or can you check to see? We always mail them directly to vendors." He said "I wouldn't be asking if I did." If that was the case, he could have mentioned that he hasn't received payment and can't schedule a pickup until he does. Easy fix. Instead, he wasted both our time. Do yourself a favor - look up another company to call. P.S. I found out that he was in communication with our office a couple days prior to this interaction - where he admitted to moving their office address! So the address they provided (for mailing the check), was wrong! If he knew of this predicament - I'm even more confused why he came in so upset/rude. read more

They've moved my business twice (split move to 2 different locations), my entire home of furniture once (in the rain), and now 3 rooms of furniture from Carmel to Napa Valley. Marcus and his team are fantastic. They are always on time. They text and call with updates. THEY STOOD ME UP! I guess providing the address and setting a pickup time window isn't enough for these movers. You have to be at the wrong phone number to deserve their services. HE HUNG UP ON ME! He called the wrong number and cancelled my move because I didn't answer. I called at the end of the pickup time window to see what their eta was and he told me NEVER because I didn't answer my phone. I guess sitting patiently at the pickup address waiting for them to finish their morning move wasn't good enough. Too bad because I had just withdrawn $100 to tip him for taking my appointment the prior day. This was an easy local move of furniture only. They would have been paid 2 hours work for maybe 1 hour tops. A new name for this moving service is A FINAL END. read more

I received a quote from Marcus, and he told me that he would need some additional information to schedule me. I called and left a voicemail at 3 pm because I had a couple of questions about what the price included. I didn't hear back so I called again the next day at 1ish and left another voicemail. I didn't hear back and called a few hours later. I then sent him a message on yelp and got a rude and dismissive response (picture included). We used this company 5 months ago. I have not had time to write this review but every time I see my scratched wall I am upset and finally decided to write this review. We had moved from the Bay Area and had used a great moving company when we had packed our things up. When we got here my husband booked New Beginnings to help us unpack. First off- they did not come on the scheduled time- when I phoned 15min after they had not pitched up yet, I asked if they where still coming. The man on the phone told me they will, but one of their movers did not show up for work and they are behind on their scheduled times because of that. They will be there within the next 2-3 hours. (I get that people get sick and it throws things off- but why did they not phone me to let me know that they will be late?!) When they movers finally showed up they moved fast enough and got everything where it needs to be and it was fine. Then, when they where gone- I noticed that they had scratched up our wall and light switch cover and our couch when they had moved the couch in! I phoned the company again and they guy said he will send some one to come fix it later that week. It is 5 months later and no one ever came or contacted us again! I even tried to phone them again in that week but no one answered, so guess we have to fix the wall ourselves... If we need to move again I will try some one else and recommend the same to everyone else. read more

So beyond pleased with this company! Unfortunately I don't remember the names of the 2 guys who unloaded my apartment and loaded up my uhaul, but wow that were amazing. Right on time, eager to get to work. I was nervous all of my furniture and boxes wouldn't fit, but once they finished, there was extra room on the uhaul! Amazing! Read the responses from the owner of some of the negative reviews and it'll tell you all you need to know about this company. Argumentative, delusional, disrespectful, and lack of ownership are the key words you should take away from any of these reviews. You pay good money building a home and everything that furnishes it, you should invest your money in a company who appreciates the responsibility you are hiring them to do when they get a job opportunity. And that's exactly what it is...an OPPORTUNITY...lots of competitors out there, make sure the company you choose understands and appreciates that FACT!!! I searched Yelp to find a moving company with good reviews, and this company came up. I called and scheduled a move date and they had great availability. They called to follow up a few days before the move and everything seemed to be going great. One hour before the scheduled move, they called to say they could no longer move me, and had no alternative to offer. When you are moving you make plans and many of them are dependent on when you can actually move. They really put me in a difficult position, with not much time to make alternate plans. I'm sure the reason they had to cancel was valid, but when it happens to you the reason is not so important. read more

***WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER*** We hired this moving company to move my grandmother from her home of over 30 years to a retirement home. Rosie sounded awesome on the phone and after reading great YELP reviews, I picked them. I am an active duty service member who has done 6 moves in the last 6 years, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. These are all the things that went wrong: -Movers arrived late -Movers had barely any supplies; no pens, one roll of tape, no scissors, barely any packing material. -They set a blanket filled with glass shelves on the new stove in the new place and it caught on fire. They then proceeded to lay the smoking blankets on my grandma's Persian rug. I had to yell at them to take it outside and not catch more things on fire. This was a brand new stove in her new retirement home, never been used. When we showed Marcus the damaged stove top pictures, he called us liars and said it was from using the stove top. Yet, we had just moved into this home. -One of the movers was facetiming his wife and crying baby during the move. -They went two hours over the estimated moving hours. -They continued to put the weight of heavy dressers through the legs, bending them and almost snapping them off. On the buffet, they broke off one of the legs when they should have screwed it off. -My grandmother had lladro's that were supposed to be packed, there was no way we trusted them to pack them. -They packed up china from the kitchen with no packing material. -They damaged multiple pieces of furniture with gouges and scratches. THE WORST PART: I contacted the owner, Marcus about how bad the move was. On the phone he was very kind and said he would make things right. When we sent him the pictures for the claims, he called us liars. He has not returned any of my calls or emails. The worst part is that when I was paying his movers, they forgot to charge us $200 for the piano and I reminded them to charge me for that. I was honest with them, and they have been dishonest and haven't even returned my calls. NO FOLLOW THROUGH. NO COURAGE. Marcus and his worker bee Chaka were magicians. My help had fallen through at the last moment and I went to find new movers. Didn't need a truck but laborers. I called 3 days before our move which was on a SUNDAY. They gave a great quote and came on time. Our rented truck was smaller than anticipated but they got everything in. Our new place 2nd floor but with an elevator. They were professional, kind, followed directions well..asked great questions. From start to finish done in 2 hours as quoted. A dear friend of mine selected this company to help move her grandmother out of the house she had lived in for 30 years. As you could imagine, this was a very emotional day for her grandmother. The house was filled with sentimental belongings that could never be replaced. The manner in which A New Beginning's employees treated the belongings they were hired to move was unfortunate for my friend's family and embarrassing for this company. Irreplaceable objects were scratched, dinged, and damaged past the point of repair. An object was even caught on fire by being carelessly placed on a stove top. The company is not allowing my friend's family to make a claim for the damages. This lack of integrity is disappointing to see from a company that claims to be built on such a positive cause. One little surprise i did not expect was an extra charge for having to carry the furniture to a second floor (stairs) and I was not aware of the charge when I was given an estimate. Originally was going to hire guys from Craigslist, but everyone was really sketchy. I didn't have that much stuff so I didn't want to hire professionals because it was too expensive. Came across this company and I don't know why, but they are SUPER affordable!! The guys were really nice (I fed them egg rolls when they came over. Haha) and very professional. They called when they were on the way and they were prompt. They did an amazing job moving my stuff. This is a great company, and I will definitely use them again. Prices are super reasonable. My wife and I needed to move everything from our rental house to a storage unit. Dexter and Robbie gave us a courtesy call to let us know they would be early. They were friendly, extremely efficient and packed everything with care. I was surprised how easily they were able to fit all our furniture, appliances and boxes into such a small space. They were accommodating enough to come back the next morning to take care of a garage full of empty cardboard boxes and garbage that needed to be dumped prior to the final inspection by our property manager. I didn't use ANBM for moving exactly, more as skilled heavy labor. Dexter and Chas picked up some used furniture I'd bought in Carmel, wrapped and secured it safely, and drove it to my house in Pacific Grove. Then they carefully shuffled half a dozen heavy pieces up and down my 3 story+basement house (I don't know how many flights of stairs they went up and down) so we could get the arrangement we wanted. The even managed to get my ridiculously heavy steel-frame pull-out bed through the tiny door to the basement. Then they delivered the furniture we had left over to some friends in Seaside. Great company! Contacted Marcus about a move that I needed rather quickly. Marcus assured me he and his team could handle the move without issue. They did! I was called prior to their arrival with a show up time...they were two minutes early. They assessed the move, wrapped our furniture and helped with the disconnection of my washer. Moving quickly, proficiently and at all times very professional. The majority of the heavy items were upstairs through a tiny very vertical stairwell. No scratches, no dings and to be honest I anticipated all of the former. We requested they take a break, have a sandwich or at least have a glass of water and breathe. Shaka and Paul arrived and started working right away. These dudes knew what they were doing. They did things fast, neat, and with a smile! We recently moved from Seaside to Carmel in August 2018. The move had to be made quickly as we only had one week to plan everything after our new home was purchased. We called five companies and three of them came to the house to give us a quote. Not only was Marcus Chubb the most pleasant to work with from the get go, his quote was also the most competitive. My husband and I like to think we're pretty good "do it yourselfers" but in moving a rather heavy chest of drawers up a stairway, you probably already guessed we got it stuck and couldn't make the turn at the top of the stairway ok, we need a professional so we consult "yelp" and find "A New Begining" got all 5 stars so we call and get a very reasonable estimate. Marcus and Chaz come and in a couple of minutes the chest was in its rightful place in the bedroom. A couple of very courteous guys who truly are professionals.
