Ours was a local move - we relocated from our 4 bedroom 2600 sf house and Power Moves helped us get it all done over 3 different dates. They showed up on time and worked hard. I had everything prepped and had pre-wrapped some items in plastic wrap but after watching them work, I realized I didn't need to do that. If something is fragile but doesn't fit in a box, they wrap it in a moving blanket & put tape around it. And they wrap furniture with plastic wrap so your stuff doesn't get scuffed. They are careful, and I appreciated it. They even helped install one of our TVs at the new place. The first day they moved 3 bedrooms and the garage, and that filled their 26' truck. The next day they transported the 4th bedroom, all of the furniture and most of the backyard patio furniture and filled the truck again. A few items were leftover, and they offered to come back the following day to help us finish the move. It was a big job! I used Yelp! To help me locate a reputable moving company. The first contact and quote I received was from Julie at Power Moves in Salinas. I moved forward with them electronically. They answered all my questions. I signed a pdf for my appointment, and off we went on the moving adventure. I lived in a shared apartment for almost eight years. And yes, I'm a hoarder of electronics. But the amount of stuff! It took them three hours to round up eight years of junk.I should have felt ashamed but the guys from Power Moves just pushed through. The reconstruction in my new-construction apartment was just as professional. My TVs were hooked up, the majority of stuff was put away for me, and the rest was nicely stacked in my new living room. The night before I fell on slanted concrete right on my lower back. I was in pain that day, and I just mentioned unloaded the chairs so I could sit. Then Johnny, like the moving angel he is, rolled in my computer chair! It was too good to be true. After they left, I noticed my living room TV wasn't working so I called Johnny. He got back to me right away. It turned out the Roku remote module fell off in the TV box. I wasn't looking forward to buying another 65" tv so I was thrilled when Johnny said they could come by and fix it. They actually showed up the next afternoon and reattached the missing module--and it worked! Overall, I was impressed and very pleased. It came out to be a little expensive, but it was A LOT of work. I have used Power Moves for three different moves over the last year and half in the Monterey/Pacific Grove area. They have been great every time. The crew shows up on time. They have the necessary equipment, and they have a great, friendly, and helpful attitude. They work hard to get the job done as quickly as possible and safely too. I also used them to take boxes and furniture from an apartment to a storage unit and then unload the storage unit and move us from one house to another house. We worked together on moving day and i found these two gentlemen to be honest, trustworthy and respectful. Where i wanted the items placed and they protected all my furniture and items with plastic wrap. I moved from an upstairs condo to a first-floor condo in the same building. There were 17 steps to the condo we had to remove the items from. and you would never had known that, watching these two wonderful individuals move all my furniture and items. Untrustworthy, unreliable and greedy. They agreed to a price, did home visit, sent me an invoice and we scheduled the move. Five days before the move, I emailed them to confirm and they added 500 bucks in new costs for "packing services". My quote included 13 hours of labor plus 4 hours of double drive time and packing material - they could not add more hours in a day so they came up with this BS line item. I was happy to pay for materials and hours, but that was apparently not enough. They could not explain the fee, so they said new fee was because I was moving "out of county", for putting TVs in boxes. I even agreed to the added fee and asked them to confirm this 500 will be the last add on and give me a final quote with a fixed price. Then they tried to add on 400 more because I wanted a fixed price. I cancelled and got the move done by another company with none of this BS. Find a more trustworthy company if you want a hassle free moving experience. read more

The movers did a fine job, were on time, etc. However.... I took my time to price compare movers and planned well in advance. This company was deceptive in their pricing. See photo where they gave me a quote to move a short 1/2 mile down the street. The rate was $150 an hour, 3 hr min. At the end of the move they added on a $150 Double time for driving time, despite the face that they drove 2 min down the road. I pointed out that they did not include this fee in their quote and I asked for a refund. The owner was rude and did not suggest that this was a mistake on her part. I take this to mean that they intentionally hide fees from prospective customers and gouge them in the end. I took my complaint to the BBB and did not receive a satisfactory resolution. read more

The guys that showed up knew what they were doing, were prepared and made quick work of moving all of our items from our old apartment to a new house. They will dis-assemble and re-assemble your furniture, including large, drawer-ed beds! I would definitely use Power Moves again in the future. As an added note, there definitely were some paint problems after the move was complete due to the guys trying to get some items in the house, which is to be expected. Power Moves was great because Julie was more efficient and let me know a quote was coming on an agreement if I wanted to book. She based it on the information I provided on the Yelp query (move my stuff into a truck) so it saved some time and back and forth. The guys showed up as promised, on time and finished well within the 3 hour minimum. They plastic wrapped most things and it was helpful for me to have a ton of moving blankets ready. My one regret is that my couch didn't get wrapped with a moving blanket and it was super heavy with the cushions so the arm ended up getting scraped and the fabric is damaged. I will definitely keep the cushions packed separately next time as they are heavy and make the couch very bulky. Really nice, courteous and professional people. Super fast and strong! Two weeks ago, I moved from Salinas California (NorCal) to Corona California (SoCal), approximately 350 miles distance. A month before our move, I requested for price quotes for different movers servicing Salinas California. Power Moves Services has the best price amongst the different movers that I have asked. Julianna (Owner/Operator) replied promptly to my inquiry whether by texts, emails, or calls. She explained clearly the price for moving and the additional prices for additional services like mounting of TV at the destination, etc. She made sure that everything (from their part)will be smooth on the day of moving. Johnny and Oscar were the movers. They are very reliable, hardworking, fast and careful. They came 30 minutes early and wasted no time loading our stuff into their huge truck. They are very careful with my stuff. They wrapped my furnitures, covered with blankets, and boxed my TV. They finished loading everything in less than an hour and a half. Early next day, they delivered and carefully unloaded my stuff to my new place. Everything is in good condition, nothing was broken. They completed unloading (boxes and furnitures) and assembling furnitures (including mounting of TV) in less than an hour and a half. Great moving company, I'm very happy. Their price quote was uncomplicated- $315 for 3 hours (the minimum) and 2 movers from Salinas to a storage unit in Gilroy (approx 25 miles). All of our belongings were in the garage. I paid exactly what I was quoted plus the 2% credit card fee, which I knew about ahead of time. No added surcharges of any kind. Payment was made after the move was completed so the movers could be tipped accordingly. Scheduling was easy and response time was quick. Both office managers were very polite and helpful. I requested a unloading service and they never showed up. The job was 2 hrs with everything boxed and sealed. He told me it was 3 hr minimum, $100 an hour. It's the most expensive I've come across but he said they were available. I was not happy with the price and agreed in no moment did I say no. I was not angry, yell just stressed. I said "ok, it's cool. I just want to get this over with". They never showed up. They also refused to work with me. They also hung up on me. I said hours before confirming let me ask around first and I called them again in the afternoon. I was not overjoyed and my words were "That's cool, whatever I just want to get this move over with." I found movers that were cheaper and with short notice. The "2 hours" were a request not a demand. I cursed at the end when they told me to look elsewhere and didn't show up. Of course I was angry. My discontent on the phone previously was "damn that's hella expensive", I was shocked. I was not pissed off when I stated that. I also shared my details and location previously over the phone asking rates, otherwise how else would I have agreed at 8 a.m. Please confirm with future customers than assuming, and have someone else handle phone calls read more

The pros: They came on time and worked very hard. All of my furniture was very well protected with moving blankets and/or plastic wrap. I have a one bedroom apartment with patio furniture and they loaded everything in 1:15. Unloading was a similar time. They even protected my entryway and front door w/a drop cloth & moving blanket. They also removed the packing materials. All of my belongings arrived without damage. The two guys that came were absolutely great! I wish I remembered their names to give them credit... The cons: It was unclear at the time of booking that the drive time started in Salinas and not at my place. That was an additional $50. Because I was moving ~30mi total, the cost of labor was equal to the cost of transport. It was also a little awkward that the movers took a 30min break for lunch.
