The Cardinale Team arrived at the appointed times to pack and move me, worked efficiently, and came in under budget. They communicated clearly, integrated me into the team on both the packing and moving jobs to ensure we were in synch on all the details, and never missed a beat. There were a few significant challenges on the move-in side to my 2nd story rental unit. Two 90" sofas were innovatively hoisted from the truck, up and over my balcony, through french doors, and into the living room...done and done. My dining room table includes two acrylic pedestals and a very heavy (and breakable) glass top. Crated and uncrated carefully, the crew took extra time and care to place the rug and assembled table precisely centered under the existing chandalier. As it would be difficult for me to make adjustments later, they far exceeded my expectation on this important (to me) task. I appreciated that my beds were set up, including bedding, all clothes in wardrobes were hung in the closets, and then those large boxes taken away. I was happy (and relieved) that my final cost came in slightly under estimate. I sensed that Leo and the team were carefully working on my behalf to reach this goal. In our move last week, the team of Cardinale was beyond a 10-star rating...pre-moving assistance; on time; within/below estimate; white glove performance (without the gloves); easy paperwork; not a scratch to the house or the furniture; securing sensitive/breakable items; BUT, most importantly, the 3-person team that literally did the heavy lifting (Sammy, Art and Leo P.) were the most courteous, friendly and thoughtful people that quietly went about their business and tasks. So sad! Monterey is my home town..so I chose this local company. It was the worst moving experience of my life. The 2 movers were aggressive, they argued with each other from the moment they arrived. I had to yell to them to "stop it!" This was my childhood home, it was stressful enough...There was no follow up..phone call..email.nothing from them after they pulled out. I had the delivery date, but no one contacted me as to what time or to confirm.. I did not feel taken care of, at all! I left a message with Melchor, who I've known since high school, and I never received a call back. I finally called the owner and shared my experience. We were referred by family to use Cardinale Moving Co. because they were known for friendly customer service and professional work. A company that we could trust... We have received the complete opposite. They have given the worst customer service that I have received to date. It is as if they have no clue what they are doing. More communication breakdowns than one needs during an interstate transition. Being in customer service myself, I know there are a couple of rules that you must follow. 1. Deliver on your service promise- they have failed twice to deliver on the date promised. Causing me the customer to bear the costs of their miscommunication and unprofessionalism. We cut our trip short and were forced to spend more money than anticipated so that we would be ready for delivery. 2. Always take responsibility for your actions- time and time again they have explained that it is not their fault and that it is "out of their hands". Now if you are a customer and you haven given a company $3,000+ dollars with the expectation that they will deliver your stuff (life) in a timely manner and they fall short. Should the burden be placed on you (the customer)? No, of course not!!! What company would you want to do business with knowing if they can't deliver on their promise, the costs get placed on you? On a side note, Mel and Sue have been very friendly; but they have fallen short on professionalism and don't expect them to reach out to you. Probably the best moving experience I could have. They packed everything carefully and were friendly and respectful to me. They were on time and communication before my move out day was excellent. I used a different carrier to move my stuff long distance and he was stuck in traffic. So the Cardinale guys decided to move everything downstairs for him to make things move quickly for me. They did this completely unprompted. They said, "We movers look out for each other." Cardinale's representatives come in and tell how great they are and how they will take good care of your possessions They tout their years of experience and its a family operation. Then when valuable items are missing and damaged they announce to you that that is not their responsibility when all along they led you to believe that the great experienced Cardinale family was with you all the way. NO THAT's NOT THE CASE. They now tell you that you must file your claim with a claims department of United Van lines even though it was Cardinale employees that created the problems. The United Van Line claims department is like dealing with a government agency. We moved in Nov 2021, we have receipts of missing items and photos of damaged items and copies of forged signatures by Cardinale employees on exit documents. It is now May 2022 and still no resolution from Cardinale or the United claims dept. on over $10,000 of missing or damaged items. DON"T TRUST THEIR FAMILY BUSINESS STORY. 7/15/16 Our family was moving 2 hours away. Vince Cardinale took inventory of everything that would be loaded onto their truck. He asked questions and gave sensible explanations. He also responded very quickly to my email (the competition didn't return a call or email for 3 days). This was our first time EVER using professional movers and we've moved many times. Marc, Angel and Mario arrived at 8 a.m. (July 14) ready to work and were top notch professionals. They made us relax through this process. They were careful, efficient, timely, friendly and hilarious (sense of humor calmed my nerves). I was grateful for their attention to details. The Friday set-up crew, lead by Marc, was also efficient and accommodating, as they set-up furniture in the rooms and asked questions. We have used Cardinale on three separate occasions. The first was when we sold our second home in Carmel. We put some of the furniture from that home into storage, and had some taken to our primary home. They delivered the furniture to our primary home and then took some furniture from our primary home back to their storage location. Now 2+ years later we decided to have some of the furniture in storage sold at auction. They helped us go through the storage units, sort the furniture and boxes and then load it up. There was absolutely no damage to anything that was moved and everything came out of storage in the same state that it entered storage. On all three occasions we couldn't have been happier with their people and the services they provided. Their people our courteous, professional and willing to help you in whatever manner you need or is required. They really make you feel good about doing business with them. Truly a genuine good soul, very professional, friendly, took a look around at what we had and explained what we needed to do to prepare. We did as advised and had a moving day scheduled. At the last minute, we had to change our plans due to circumstances beyond our control. We called Cardinale to advise them of our situation and they were totally cool about it, rescheduled us for the next convenient day. Moving day 2.0 came around and the moving crew was punctual, professional, friendly and motivated. They moved our stuff out by lunchtime and had us moved into our new house by dinnertime, and we had A LOT of stuff! Nothing was damaged, they were friendly all the way to the end of a very long day. I used Cardinale for a cross country move (acting as an agent for United Van Lines). Mel was the guy who sold it with his warm personality and expertise, including tips on how to pack things to reduce the amount of boxes and save money as a result. I had them pack my dishware and everything arrived in perfect shape. During loading, I had forgotten a few boxes in a closet and despite having driven off already 30 minutes previously, the driver came back to add the extra items into the shipment. Beware of this company unless you don't care about your money and your belongings. What an awful experience. My brother started the process to move my deceased parents' belongings from California to Colorado. I guess that part went ok however when the truck showed up, Angel Balderas, the driver, just threw heavy boxes up on top of fragile antique tables. I have ridiculous photos from the storage where the driver uploaded. No common sense - oh my god. Tiny, 3 legged tables with heavy boxes of dishes on top - most of the 100+ year old antiques were badly damaged and may as well be firewood. My parents too such good care of their things and now most everything is worthless because of the careless driver/unloader. ALSO, we had 4 big boxes of packed garbage that we paid to have them pack, ship and unload from 4 states away. Breadbag twists, wrappers, coffee grounds and packing paper actually wrapped up and packed! I wonder how much we paid per huge box of wrapped up garbage?? Is this how you made more money off of us, Cardinale? The condition of items was almost unbearable to see. Things my family has had for years, all destroyed by a driver that they must have hired real cheap!!!!! Terrible business, you destroyed our family heirlooms!!!!!!!! We moved from Pacific Grove, CA to Lantana, TX in February and March 2018. Cardinale Moving and Storage of Castroville, CA and United Van Lines did our move. It was one of our worse moves when compared to the countless others we experienced during our many years in the military. Stolen or lost boxes, a missing large leather easy chair (the ottoman for the chair was delivered), and damage/destruction of some of our household goods left us less than impressed with United and Cardinale Moving and Storage. Then came the challenge of coming up with receipts for the missing and damaged goods we purchased 30-40 years ago. We ended up having to settle for less than 30% of the value of the stolen/lost/damaged items. Another issue of concern to us was the "Straight Talk Price Assurance Total" of $15,817.85 charged to our AMEX credit card which included $5,553.86 for two months of storage we estimated to be required with this move. We needed only one month of storage, so imagine our surprise when we received the final notice of settlement that had a credit refund of $1,367.79 instead of $2,776.93, half of the $5,553.86 pre-paid for two months storage. The "Detail of Actual Charges" sent with the final bill showed additional charges of $2,371.85 for drayage and additional charges for storage. Simply put, this was not a good experience, and based on this move, we would not recommend Cardinale and United Van Lines. Instead, use PODS. Our daughter's family moved to a home across the street from our new home in TX a month before our move and paid less than half of the cost by using PODS. Rent PODS, pack yourself or hire professional packers, then hire a couple of day laborers to load and unload your move. No theft, no loss, no damage from unloading to put in storage, and you don't get hammered by costs not clearly explained by a slick estimator. read more

Great customer service. We called at the last minute to move household goods from CA to NV, and Gustavo went out of his way to make sure every detail was thought of and carried out. Leo was a great driver and took extra care to make sure everything was loaded and protected and placed where we wanted on the unloading. Maybe the good reviews are coming from short moves but if you store your items with Cardinale, and move across country- you will not get all your things upon delivery. Unless you insure everything for extra money....You will never see the things they lost and it appears they make NO EFFORT to help you find them. Putting tags on each box-worthless. The records they keep are useless. They do not check off each box as they remove it from the truck but if something is lost and it is not on their list, they won't do a thing. As far as they are concern-it was never on their truck. Antique sewing machine; lost which was my Mother in Laws and it meant a lot to me but they don't care. read more

Moving is one of those sour apples that life throws your way from time to time. Unfortunately when I hired Cardinale for my recent move from PG to Kansas, I had most of the entire rotten tree thrown at me. Let me start by saying that I think the people that work for the company are nice people. But they have terrible customer service. The man (Mel) that came to do my estimate did just that; and then I never heard from him again. I did most of my corresponding with Sue, who was nice, but seems to be working for a bad company. No one ever called me first; I always had to call to find out when to expect people/containers to arrive. Apparently, United decided that my move would be done using one of the Sam containers. I paid for a full service move, so I had movers show up on my move day to load the container for me. Other than a little miscommunication about whether I owed them money for the materials they used to wrap my belongings, they were fine. The problems came when I arrived at my destination. It took nearly three weeks for my container to be delivered, and when it did arrive, I was not contacted ahead of time to meet the driver or plan for the arrival of the movers. That's fine, I was home anyway. The driver dropped the container off, and I waited for the movers to arrive to unload my belongings. All day. I finally called the local United office (Fry-Wagner) to find out when my movers would arrive, and was told that they were not even aware that my container was supposed to be coming to them, or that I paid for a full-service move. I was told that no one would be available until two days later (after my estimated last date of delivery). In the mean time, I had the pleasant experience of having a local police officer knock on my door to inform me that the container was in violation, and needed to be moved. After calling various people with United in both Castroville and Kansas City, it was decided that the driver would come the next day to remove the container, take it back to Kansas City, and redeliver it the following day when the movers were available. United, I realize that $3500 is not a lot of money to you. But as a student, it is a huge amount of money to have to deal with police officers, local neighbors who are upset with the container, poor communication with the movers, and generally poor customer service. If you are considering a move with Cardinale and United unfortunately, you don't have many other options. I just write this with the hopes that you are prepared for almost anything. They know your choices for a successful move are few and bad, so they can get away with treating you poorly. read more

No other way to say it - these guys are the best. And I have experience with another local mover who had top stars and told us "Not to exceed" and did not do a great job packing and broke things. Vince is a professional. He even researched the street we were moving to and made better plans for how to use vehicles! Our movers Art, Gus and Jeff were awesome. They were professional and fast and made a tough day super great. They will even come by and pick up all of the moving boxes when you are ready - a great convenience when dealing with unpacking! They did not give the cheapest quote, but they held true to their fees and we we were 100% satisfied. We went with the cheapest before and would never recommend that company. In fact, I have a 2-star review for the other company in my drafts. I could not recommend this moving company more. You are in good hands with Cardinale. read more

Cannot recommend Cardinale's enough. They were an incredible moving company to use, and all of the staff I encountered - from Vince, the owner, through the pick-up/drop-off driver, Marc, were great. Over the summer, I moved from the Peninsula to LA. I had originally booked a POD because I've had AWFUL experiences with movers and didn't want to deal with incompetent, uncaring, money-focused movers. I didn't want to have to do a U-Haul down the 5 or 101, and given prior mover experiences, I didn't even look into hiring movers. But then, my new community doesn't allow PODs parked overnight or on the street, and without a driveway, I needed a different option. I had called a few places to inquire about costs, and they were either dismissive or unresponsive. Cardinale's, from the get go, was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Vince did a walk through for inventory and quote, and it was actually LESS than PODs. Who knew? Marc and his crew were on-time for the pick-up (and patiently waited b/c I was 10 minutes late getting from the hotel) and were honestly the most efficient, friendly, and focused crew I've ever encountered. They packed up the house in less than 2 hours, and everything was wrapped really well and secure. I had packed and labeled everything (Marc said I probably didn't need to box some of the things I did, but better safe than sorry!?!). They took care of the few loose items I had (a coat rack that wouldn't come apart, yard items). They even took my bike apart, packed it and wrapped it in blankets to keep it from getting scratched or ruined. (And they put it back together in LA!) I was a Nervous Nellie about a few items; I have a few things from my late aunt and grandmother that aren't fancy or expensive but have sentimental value. They were understanding and empathetic. And they were done in far less time I had planned, which meant I could get on the road early. Always nice. Marc delivered my goods with a new crew on schedule, as planned. (This was a relief; previous movers had repeatedly delayed delivery for three weeks before I had to get the DOT involved, and they wanted to charge me more than agreed to by contract.) Marc had a local crew, and once again they were incredibly focused, professional, and efficient. They had everything unloaded to my new third floor apartment - meaning, they had to deal with the elevator! - in less than two hours. Nothing was broke. Nothing was missing. Nothing was ruined. This was a first! (One box had had to be retaped; it had come open, but it was an extra heavy box of books that I had packed, so that's on me.) My only complaint is not knowing how to much to tip movers and probably under tipped the delivery crew b/c their stellar service was a first. Cardinale's is a great moving company, and though I plan to stay in LA for years to come, I'd used them again in a heartbeat. If you've had bad experiences with movers in the past, Cardinale's will definitely be a nice change. They are exemplars in their field and should serve as a model for other moving businesses. read more

I used Cardinale in July of 2011 to move from Salinas to the Peninsula. It was a long, long arduous day. None-the-less, the workers were professional, friendly and efficient in performance of their duties. I was particularly iimpressed with the care they took in handling my belongings and to not damage the new hardword floors, paint and rails in my new home. Due to the long day, the estimate turned out to be significantly low (I have, it turns out, a lot of "stuff") but they honored the original quote...thoughI chose to pay somewhat more. I am currently planning another move, and Cardinale was my first and only call... the only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I just can't bring myself to be excited enough about moving or anything to do with moving to give it a 100 rating!! read more

Terrible experience from start to finish. We hired them for a long distance move to another state. They both packed and moved us. We didn't haggle them down on price or anything but everything they did was characterized by lack of care and corner cutting. They started out by not hiring enough guys to pack us. The guys they hired were shocked when they showed up the first day and saw all they had to move. They were in a huge rush all day long and some things were just thrown into boxes (especially later in the day as they were feeling rushed and tired) with little rhyme or reason (which we didn't realize until we unpacked). They stacked boxes to the roof in the moving truck with little care about which boxes should go on top or bottom. Hence, we had many things broken (for which we opened a claim), and many fasteners were missing for furniture they had dismantled. They didn't put together some of the furniture that they had dismantled to fit on the truck. And some of the furniture that was put together was done haphazardly (loose and missing screws). On the delivery end, the truck driver they contracted to (Mayflower) was just interested in getting the job done as cheaply as possible. He didn't hire movers to unpack the truck. They were just 2 guys from craigslist (who worked hard, and I tipped them $120), but the level of professionalism and care that we were promised was just not there... Moreover, I had to threaten a stop payment on my credit card when they overcharged us for a second moving truck that they never used. They did not return calls or emails until I took it to that level. I don't write many negative reviews but this was a terrible moving experience. read more
