When I travel, I love seeing if there's a Mod pizza around since it's consistent. I love making my own creations and getting vegan cheese with mine to reduce my dairy intake. The subway of Pizza is the best way I can describe the atmosphere. It's the philosophy of the place that takes it to another level. Attitude with Gratitude. Employee's that care. You walk up they have three sizes. Personal, Mega, and Mini. Then choose sauce and Cheese. Then choose from like 10 meats and 20 veggies. You can add as much as you want, the price stays the same. After it cooks you can then add other sauces. It cooks FAST. it took like 5 minutes. The person I was with got a mini with pre thought out toppings, Can't remember the name. I did build my own. Love that they have so many toppings and the price is the same no matter what!! We both ordered the MOD size which was great for lunch while there and dinner later. You watch them as they create your pizza and can add as much as you like just consider cooking time. Their new spicy marinara was a nice addition and the chicken sausage is always a favorite. I love that you can add sauces including marinara at the end for dipping. They service was good as always and your wait is dependent on how busy it is at the time. You can easily sit and enjoy there since they have plenty of seating or take it home. Really nice quick thin crust pizza that you can customize. read more

Loved my trip here as the method of ordering pizza and quality of ingredients was above what I was expecting. Ordered a custom pizza along with cheese sticks and let's just say I didn't realize how much food that was going to be! Ordering process is smooth and there is lots of seating area. Staff was nice in guiding you on what goes along with what and any recommendations. The pizza was a thin crust and crispy which gave it a nice contrast to the heavy cheese topping. I'd recommend getting at minimum 4 or 5 other toppings to change up the taste. If you're just a cheese lover, the cheese sticks felt as if they had double cheese on it and was bigger than my actual pizza. For drinks, they had some unique tea options along with shakes... Have never seen this combination at pizza places but it works. read more

I love a good make your own pizza! This place does well! They have a lot of options for topping and know proper protocol for allergies. I said no pizza when I came in and they automatically checked if it was an allergy! The different sizes work great for families. The crust is super thin and tastes just right! We arrived on a Wednesday during the lunch hour and Mod Pizza was already super packed with a line. However, we moved very quickly through the line and didn't have much of a wait to order. The staff effortlessly moved customers through the a line without overtly rushing anyone on their orders. First impressions in terms of atmosphere were very positive. There wasn't a ton of seating considering how busy it was, but there was outdoor seating available. The decor of the shop gave off a fun retro pizza parlor to me. As for the pizzas themselves, we had no complaints! We tried a make your own and one of their originals, the Caspian, and both were great. We split 2 pizzas between 3 people and everyone had plenty to eat and it was a relatively affordable meal. I will for sure be returning many times! read more

Brand new pizza place on alpine, they try to be cool, hip, modern, but it comes off a little fake to me. The bottom line is it's fast pizza. It's just like Blaze, Herb Fire, etc. fresh ingredients, pizza and salad. I like it. The sauce is a bit bland and watery. Had I known ahead of time I would have definitely added basil, oregano, red pepper, anything to give it some punch. Got a salad as well, which was good, but nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly but clearly still training. My visit I'd rate a 3, but I feel like the potential for 4 stars is there if you order properly. Also, the lemonade is damn good. read more

Showed up today for the grand opening with a friend and got free pizzas, both of which were super good. They have some pizzas and salads like The Fred or The Maddy that have pre-determined toppings or you can build you own - all are the same price regardless and the price is really reasonable (7.95 for 11"). Despite the crowd and it being opening day, things were running smoothly while we were there. The nice thing about build your own is that it can be allergen friendly-ish, but make sure you look into sauces before you go as my friend is allergic to peppers and they have peppers in their red sauce, which is not apparent anywhere. Thankfully someone else mentioned it to us, so they ended up getting pesto and didn't have a wasted pizza or allergic reaction. Shakes were really good too! read more

This is my new favorite pizza place on the west side of Grand Rapids. The pizza is thin crust and made to order. It comes out of the oven piping hot. I add a little pesto to top it off. So good! I have really enjoyed my visits to MOD Pizza! I've gone a handful of times now, when I don't want to cook and get a craving for pizza that's not $5 and been sitting in a heated box for lord knows how long. It's extremely fresh, quick, and the best part is the personalization aspect. It tend to prefer eating vegetarian, but my s/o is a 'meat lovers' kind of guy. Our compromise is usually plain ole' pepperoni if we go elsewhere and get a big pizza to share -- but we both get what we want when we go to MOD. Been to this location a few times and it's always hit and miss. For the price of the food, it's not worth the food poisoning we got. Visited the restaurant yesterday and it was filthy. Tables weren't cleaned, trash over flowing, bathrooms were disgusting. There were two employees working and the place was slow, so why isn't anyone cleaning? The food area was just as bad. What a beautiful sight! After moving across the country from Seattle this is one place my kids (and I) really have missed. We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving and happened upon the glowing sign which instantly warmed (everyone screamed with joy) our hearts (and soon thereafter our bellies). Rewind 7 years. MOD was the first lunch I had when a friend invited me to tag along and check out a spot he really liked. For $5.88 you could get a pizza with anything and everything you wanted on it. They used to remake your entire pizza and/or hand you a free pizza card if they messed up your order. The prices have risen a few bucks and the free cards are gone but the unwavering attention to detail and interactive and attentive service have remained. The pizza is just AMAZING and hands down beats any of the look a-likes that have popped up around the country. This location is a long ways from home but carries the same vibe as Seattle locations. The store manager is passionate about the store, the mission, and yes, the PIZZA! MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Restrooms were the most disgusting I've seen in a long time. The toppings for the pizzas were way above the full line in the containers making it not food safe because it can't be kept cold all day. Quality pizza. I come about 3 times a week! Can be pricey especially if you get a salad. Other than staff not being on top of online ordering and pick up orders (I've always had to wait even when Ordering ahead and they didn't even have it prepped yet), it's a great place. If you have allergies like myself but still want to indulge in a pizza for quick satisfaction look no further! MOD pizza is too good. The cauliflower crust can get pretty crispy but, only where there are no pizza ingredients. For example, I usually eat everything of the pizza- not the type to stay away from the crust, if you know what I mean- but when it comes to the cauliflower crust, I probably will skip it because it gets too crunchy after cooked. It's not a big deal because the ingredients are so fresh and it's open flame baked right there in front of you... Good price, very tasty, love item selection. "Gluten-friendly" crust option is actually very decent. Ordering online for a scheduled pickup worked perfectly. Would only wish for more options for larger size, and a little more quantity of item coverage on the pizza or choice of 2x for selected item. Otherwise, a home run for us. read more
