The food and service is always outstanding!! Today 3/12/26 was incredibly outstanding!! Jeremy Webster (I ask him his name) went above and beyond with my $70.00 order. His sincere kindness, helpfulness and accuracy was spot on!! Did little extras with communication to make sure my order was as I needed. Just after finishing my order I Believe manager was needing to fill shift for possibly a call in. Jeremy raised his hand to comply. This was at 10:40am and shift needed was until 9pm closing. He told them no problem he'd stay and help. His parents should be proud of the way they raised him because he is is one heck of a guy. You are lucky to have him on your team. I go here once a month or so. I like the food. Inside is pretty plain- not real nice. Small too- can't always find a table but usually it works out. One suggestion I have- if you are making a beef and bean burrito- instead of putting a scoop of meat and a scoop of beans on and rolling it up- maybe roll it the other way or spread things out a little first. Right now, what you end up with is one half is all bean and the other half is all beef. I think most people would prefer to have both ingredients together. read more

I've tired Taco Boy a couple of times. The service is always very quick and it has very small quaint, retro vibe. I love wet burritos; like they're a comfort food; however these were "okay." Been eating here for decades, and sadly it's gone downhill. The "homemade" hot sauce just doesn't have the same taste anymore; you use 3 times as much to get any flavor. $3.50 for a "side" of rice for which the container was less than half full, probably only a quarter cup of rice. The few tables are so rickety and squeaky that it's probably not even safe. Filthy floor. We saw the cashier taking change out of the "penny" cup and putting it in the prominently displayed "tip" box when she thought no one was looking (does that camera on the wall work?). We drove through Grand Rapids around 8 pm on a Saturday night. With the cop car in the driveway, we KNEW Taco Boy had to be good! It was FANTASTIC! I had the combination plate (ask for extra enchilada sauce to put on your tostada). Hubby had the green all meat dry burrito. He said it was really good. Next time you drive past a Taco Boy, STOP! I have not been to the Taco Boy for years, but it was mentioned in a mystery book set in Michigan and I remembered how I loved their food. Unfortunately, when I stopped to pick up lunch today, I realized there was no way I could get up the 2 steps to the door of the Plainfield NE restaurant in Grand Rapids. There was absolutely nothing to use as a railing, not even a trash can. I am elderly and realize that I should probably carry a cane to use in these circumstances, but then again, I can get into most every business that I frequent without one. If I somehow missed the handicapped ramp entrance or the drive up window, I'm sorry for this review. If not, I can't be the only elderly person in GR who would appreciate a better way to get into your business. read more

So I'm standing inside right now waiting for my order with 8 other people. I called from my car and asked to place a phone order. They said they're not taking phone orders. Ok, so I go inside to order and now I'm waiting and the place is pretty packed. While I'm waiting, a guy walks in and says he has a phone order. His food is waiting at the counter, he gets it, pays, and leaves. I ask why when I called I was told they weren't doing phone orders. Some guy making tacos turns around and snaps "we're busy now". Now how is my ordering over the phone different than ordering inside? I have been a life long Taco Boy fan! Literally decades of weekly visits. However more recently the service has been terrible. The training around actual customer service is lacking. A few weeks ago I was there at dinner rush, waited in line forever but that's what we do, I ordered extra packets of mild sauce understanding that there is a charge. When I got my order there no extra packets as the person taking my $30+ order did not add them. So instead of giving me 4 extra packs (which cost TB pennies) I was instructed to go back to the end of the 20 minute line to order my 4 packs of hot sauce. The cashier didn't even chime in or support my request. This is poor customer service. read more

We ordered a super wet burrito with meat and beans, the super combination and chips with queso. We didn't get the chips. The portions are huge, but the flavor though is seriously lackluster. The ground meat had no seasoning other than some salt. The sauce on the burrito was pretty decent. The gal taking orders was very nice and the service was very quick. If I could give Taco Boy more stars, I would!!! I grew up eating Taco Boy and it is by far my favorite fast food restaurant! I have my go-to meals... 3 hard shell tacos with tomatoes and 9 mile sauces or a mini wet meat and bean burrito (no onion) with extra lettuce and tomato on the inside and out... with 10 mild sauces and 1 sour cream. Man!!! It hits the spot every time. Not once has Taco Boy ever disappointed me. In the winter, I take my food to go, summer I sit outside on he picnic tables. There is limited seating inside. Hands-down, this is my favorite place for simple, "Mexican-American" fare. The ambience is that of a greasy spoon or dive. I think there are about 4 booths inside and a couple of picnic-type tables outside. I would definitely not judge this book by its cover, however. The food is made to order and very good. Once you factor in the price, it's amazing. The wet burrito is a half pound of beefy goodness. The enchiladas are simple, but very flavorful. The tacos are my favorite, though. They are also simple, but are always fantastic! I'm not sure what they put in them to make me want eat until I blow up, but I hope they keep doing it. I recently took my kids here for their first time and they both declared it their new favorite place. Since it's so relatively inexpensive, I don't mind at all. read more
