I went here for an old school rap concert around Halloween time. I remember this place as a different name (Rose Garden, I think?) when I visited Portland years ago but I guess it's the Moda Center now. This is in a very convenient location just steps from a max station so next time I visit I will be utilizing that. Traffic leading to this place was terrible but definitely not worse than my experience going to concerts in LA or Vegas. The parking structure/elevator to get to the right event room was really confusing. There was our concert and a disney on ice show going on there at the same time, so there were 2 very different groups of people-- girls dressed for the club and a bunch of kids in costumes, soccer moms and bored looking dads going up and down in the elevators trying to find the correct level and nobody was in the area that worked there to help us. If I were a lone female I would have been nervous walking around a big dark parking structure so long. Once you get out on the correct level though finding your way in is easy. The staff was friendly but not very helpful. FYI: Guys have their own line to be patted down by a male and the females have their purses checked by a female so don't waste your time standing in the wrong long line because nobody tells you until you're to the front then you have to switch lines-- and the guys line is definitely faster. Convenience stands were open and sold the usual fair type foods at the usual ridiculous event type prices. I would eat at home and sneak my drink in if it was that serious. The arena was smaller than what I'm use to but it was pretty empty anyways. The arena was very basic. Maybe it was the concert we went to but it left a lot to the imagination. We had floor seats and nobody was sitting next to us which was a bonus. I purposely bought my seats leaving one open to ensure we had space and thank goodness I did because the seats are closer together than the airplane. They are those annoying little fold down chairs from elementary school that link together on the sides so you can't even attempt to scooch an inch away from your neighbor.The first performer was Sir Mix A lot singing "Baby got back" well, baby, if you got back you need two seats! I think it's retarded that there's no way down to the floor seats other than coming from the very top-- up and down the stairs to the bathroom or to get anything to eat or drink. And every single time you have to show your ticket regardless of whats in your hands or how many times you've passed the same security guard. Security did a good job keeping the aisles clear but were no match for the blunt passing that was only egged on when one of the artists on staged passed a blunt down into the crowd. Pretty sure we got contact high! But this is to be expected at a concert of this caliber and it's okay cuz weed is legal in OR now! There's a lot of security roaming around but that didn't keep people from constantly taking other peoples seats and causing fights when people complained. Keep it classy Portland! Sound was pretty good but I'm accustomed to a nicer venue... there are absolutely no monitors/TV screens on the walls so unless you're in the front row you can't see anything in detail. Everyone stands up throughout the show so unless so unless you're 6'8" you won't see what made people hoot and holler. On the plus side although there are 2 lots one saying $10 and the other saying $15... when we drove in they didn't have us pay. We expected to pay to get out and I thought they were dumb, should have collected before people got drunk and spent their money... but they ended up not having the booths open at all so we didn't have to pay. Perhaps this is because we left 15 minutes early to avoid the crowd. Nonetheless... score! Overall, I would go here again if a good concert was going on. Performer has to put on a really good show to make this place seem better than it is. Otherwise it's jus meh. read more

This arena is a great place to catch a game as the Trailblazers' fans know how to cheer on their home team. We were rooting for the visitors (Phoenix Suns) and were treated with class by the hometown. Definitely take the MAX when visiting the center, it will drop you off a few hundred feet from the entrance. They have the typical overpriced beer like most venues so be sure to get your fill at one of the many great restaurants/pubs/bars in the downtown area beforehand. Being from out of town we were referred to use the App Cocktail Compass that proved to be very helpful. read more

Went here for the Trail Blazers game, it's clean and has a good variety of food stands and beer options. Typical prices for an arena ($9-10 for a plate of nachos with beans and pulled pork). The bathrooms are kept clean. There's available parking walking distance and a large parking garage too. There's a bar and restaurant right in front of the entrance which has pretty good drinks that are expectantly overpriced. Didn't try their food though, not a cramped spot to bring a group of friends or family. read more

Great arena, I used to live in the Northwest and have seen several Trail Blazers games and a few Winterhawks games, great arena, never a bad experience. Easily accessible from the Max light rail, great food, great team store, they once went to the warehouse under the Coliseum to get a hat in my size, everything is well done there, I look forward to my return there. Saw Toruk Cirque du Soleil, which was a terrible production. They don't let you bring any food or even WATER in,and their food prices are exhorbitant. As far as I can tell there is only one womens bathroom on each floor level, with only 20 stalls. On the positive side, the workers are very good about chasing people away who move from the cheap seats to the front rows. And the workers are very good about searching your bag for food, BAH HUMBUG. read more

Security checkpoint is a joke. Was told my 150 dollar dakine backpack was too large to hold all my kids ear muffs for the monster truck show and that I didn't pass the security screening and would need manual checking with the wand. They gave me complicated instructions to go to another building to check it in which meant getting out of a lengthy line and hoping the building was open after the show. I surrendered this bag and then they didn't even finish the security screening process!!!! So they certainly prevented my empty backpack from going in but didn't verify hat I wasn't a security risk! Imagine my surprise to get inside the building to see tons of other parents wearing backpacks!!!! . I attempted to find my backpack in the trash cans but wasn't able to, I suspect moda center security has a sweet new dakine backpack ;-). What a joke. read more

How can they be out of root beer when the concert hasn't even started?! The sprit i got instead was very flat and old. They put way to much sour in my lemon drop drink. My popcorn was also old and hard. For 25$ i expect better quality food and drinks . But on the bright side the bathroom was very clean and stocked. read more

Most uncomfortable venue. Seat are crammed so close together knees hit seats in front of you and you have to get personal with those next to you bumping arms and bodies. If you need to go to the rest room or heaven forbid a fire you are trapped in your seats unless you have an isle. read more

I came to the Moda Center to see Louis C.K. On a Saturday night. I was very pleased that parking was only 13$ and very easily accessible from the I-5! We drove right in and parked in the structure before heading to Jack's for a drink. The actual Moda Center is attached to the garage and has a nice plaza for hanging out in before a show or game. When it's cold you can head over to Jack's for food and drinks and when it's warm you can hang out by the fountain on one of their benches. When the doors opened we had our tickets scanned and went through the metal detector without a problem. We grabbed some large but expensive beer which we expected. They have Pyramid brewery serving beer as well as Sizzle Pie and Killer Burger inside for food options. The center is huge but there always seems to be a line in the bathrooms so plan accordingly! The stadium itself is nice with good lighting but man the seating is tight! If you have long legs you should plan to have your knees up against the chair in front of you and don't even think of leaning your head back or it'll end up in someone lap! The arm rests don't go up unless you are in an aisle seat so I would recommend that people who are larger in size sit in the aisle seats. The floor seating definitely has more room because they use folding chairs lined up in rows. If you come in with a large jacket or purse be prepared to either put it on the floor or clutch onto it the whole time because there really isn't any room with a sold out show! Overall, besides the cramped seats I had a great time and appreciated how laid back the experience was. The acoustics sounded nice as well! read more

Food is expensive but true arena style. Went to see Strikeforce MMA and expected a difficult time seeing the event in this venue. I was surprisingly surprised. :-) Had an awesome view and an awesome time. The company I work for, Stan The Hot Water Man, has had season tickets 3 out of the last 4 years. Every year, the company gets season tickets in the 200 club level. This worked out perfect because you could get as much food, drinks, candy, and dessert as you want. Although it seems "free", I understand that the owner has graciously paid in advance so that we all don't have to worry about money and we can enjoy the game, completely free of charge. It was extremely exciting to bring your friends and family and tell them that they can literally get as much as they want. The food selection was good during the previous 2 season ticket cycles as well. You could go to the buffet and see the meal of the night, which was high quality food compared to the other vendors. If you decided to pass, you could travel to each other vendor loading up on things like pizza, nachos, hotdogs, popcorn, pretzels and a wide variety of candy and ice cream. You could continue to go back and get more of these items all the way up to the end of the 3rd quarter. All you had to do was show them your wrist band. This year, things have changed completely. The company was notified that they would be renovating everything, including the purchasing system. Now, each card (ticket) comes with $30 on it. With the $30, you can buy anything and at any vendor in the stadium. This includes alcohol and merchandise. Before, you could only buy food items on the club level floor, but you still could go buy merchandise anywhere. This change was exciting to hear as an employee. I thought it would be great to go down to the main floor and be able to choose from Sizzle Pie Pizza and other vendors. Because the owner is so generous, I was privileged to go to a pre-season game against the Clippers this year. I traveled to all the vendors in the stadium so that I could pick out exactly what I wanted. After traveling everywhere, I found my way back in the club level. I decided to pick out something from this level. I was disappointed to find out that there was no longer a buffet. Along with that, I was extremely disappointed at the prices of the food. Every vendor had outrageous prices, such as $8 dollars for 2-3 slices of a tiny quesadilla. $11 dollars for a turkey sandwich. Also, I believe it was $8 for two scoops of ice cream. This limited the amount of food I could get and it was upsetting. On top of that, when I did decide on some food, the card scanner did not even work. They had to manually write down the number on the card. This took longer than expected and I had to mentally keep up with how much I was spending. Also, I later found out that season ticket holders get a 15% discount on all items, except for alcohol. None of the employees at any of the vendors gave me the discount or even bothered to ask. I should have known this to begin with, so I am a little at fault. However, one of the nice things was that the new vendors in the club level were local businesses. For example, the ice cream place was Salt & Straw. Also, the sandwich shop was Bunk Sandwiches. This at least told me that the quality was better. I don't think the quality was at a high enough level to be able to charge those kind of amounts. I understand that this was a sporting event and it seems to be a custom to charge a crazy amount. Every sporting event I have been to does this. However, the Moda Centers past ways were a lot better. There was nothing to complain about in the past, but now there is. Hopefully the Moda Center figures out a few things and makes the appropriate adjustments. I will always be a loyal blazer fan and I will continue to go to the games, especially while I work for such a great company that lets their employees go. Go Blazers!! read more

I will NEVER attend an event there again. Once, a few years ago was enough. Way too steep for me. Felt uncomfortably elevated, even in the second tier, and "leg room" was uncomfortable. View of the stage required opera glasses, and I am not visually impaired. For the ticket price, a waste, IMO. The Moda Center sucks. At least for hockey games it sucks. Any other arena in the WHL, the food and beer are priced to draw people in - even Seattle has a "two for Tuesday's" deal. Not the Moda. They charge the same ridiculous prices you see at Blazer games. The security at the Moda Center (and the equally ineptly-run Memorial Coliseum next door, also under the auspices of "Rose Center Entertainment Ventures" or whatever those idiots call themselves) is appallingly bad. The lines to get into games are so long that the majority of fans miss the the first 10-20 minutes of the game. Not to mention the lack of parking. God forbid a Blazer game (or a Justin Bieber concert ) is going on. If so, Hawks fans should plan on parking up around MLK and Broadway and hoofing it in. Lastly, the Moda Center ushers and security are unabashedly sexist. If you are a loud, passionate, female (*gasp*) hockey fan, you earn a "reputation". (I'm not kidding - an old man usher once sneered at me and told me "I had a reputation" in an effort to shame me like we were in high school in the 1950s.) Most recently, I was singled out by security for cursing when there were 10+ men in the same section cursing way worse than me. In short, the Moda Center utterly sucks for hockey games and I will never set foot in it again. read more

Went to Pink Concert, which was great by the way. We arrived an hour before beginning of show. Went to the restroom to discover no seat covers, no toilet paper and no paper towels! Not a good way to start the evening. For the price we paid for those tickets, Moda needs to step up their game and provide some bathroom supplies. In addition, the seats are very uncomfortable. My knees hit the seat in front of me and I'm only 5'7". What I did like was the orderly fashion of leaving the center after the concert. Granted this has nothing to do with the Moda Center staff and everything to do with polite Oregonians and Washingtonians. The aisles were evacuated row by row, which was a way better way to do it, not like in Los Angeles where everyone crowds into the aisle at once creating gridlock! read more

I love going to the Moda Center for any event! The sound system is excellent and makes me feel whatever I'm watching, whether it's a Basketball Game or a Rock Concert! I thought I'd get lost inside if I went to the bathroom or to any of the vendors the first time I went there. It's set up so simply, I had no problem finding my way back to my seat. read more

I have been to many blazer games here in my life but my recent venture into the club level was a total disappointment. I sat in club level last year and the free buffet and concessions made the price of the tickets totally worth it. This year I bought my wife and I club level tickets again ready to show her the buffet that I so excitedly told her about. But when I got there I found out that they did away with the free buffet. What a bunch of crap that was. Yes I will always root for and want to watch my blazers but I will not be paying for club level seats just to pay the extra 50 for a decent meal. The club level has completely lost all appeal and the rose garden...or "moda center" has lost my business. I wouldn't have paid the extra money to sit in club level if I knew I'd be paying that same price in food. Such BS. Foul play moda center. read more

Club level season ticket holders for 5 years, what a horrendous disservice to us loyal fans with the "remodel"! We pay $20 to receive $30 in merchandise credit so were getting $10, a bottled water is $4.50...really? Thank you Trailblazers for once again showing us just how much ripping off the fans means to the bottom line of the Trailblazer's organization. I guess that new TV deal bringing in the owners, a huge windfall, wasn't enough. This will be my last year of supporting this organization. Couldn't be more disgusted with the new "upgrade", it looks like a hospital cafeteria. No ambiance and no draw, just really enjoy missing most of the game to try find a decent food choice somewhere on some level, and oh not to mention, the card redemption system doesn't work yet so just a little more time taken while we fill out paperwork. I'm writing this review solely to express my disappointment in their ushers. All of them were very rude to the guests at the recent Barbershop Harmony Society International convention. Not once did I see them smile, and in fact they yelled at guests. In my experience, this is not a good way to represent any company, especially one that deals with guest services. Direct quote from one of their rude staff: "Well, you were all -supposed- to be out half an hour ago." The event had ended only 15 minutes prior, and he interrupted a group that was singing. Talk about bad, selfish service. Security was also a joke, with no bag checks despite posted signs. This is hands down the worst venue I have encountered at any convention I have been to. read more

The facility itself is great- modern design, lots of space and lots of amenities. The signage (for seating, bathrooms, etc) is very clear and helpful. Seats are comfortable. I've seen Blazer games and Winterhawks games here, and I prefer it to VMC. Parking is ok- slightly awkward and people always over-park in their spaces, which is frustrating. My biggest complaint is the exceptionally- truly exceptionally- RUDE parking attendants and flaggers. I paused tonight on my way into the garage to ask the flagger to repeat what he'd said because I couldn't understand him (he was shouting directions at cars as they tried to enter the garage). He swore at me, told me I was "stupid" and to "get the hell out of his way." Wow. I was speechless. read more

Concessions are overpriced. Parking is overpriced if you can get a spot. They book the Moda Center and Memorial for the same time slot so there is hardly enough parking. $10.50 for a cup of beer. Always short poured. Food is marked up so high it's ridiculous. Eat before you go and forget about drinking. Merchandise is better purchased online. If you plan to drive buy a pass because there isn't enough parking, but public transportation or uber would be a cheaper choice. Winterhawks aren't NHL, but the tickets prices are. Blazers are the only pro team here and the ticket prices reflect it. Although most go to see the other team or a player on the other team.Sadly the cirque du soleil has resorted to using this bank account depleting joke of a venue. If only some investors would build a competing venue. Probably to much corruption blocking them. read more

this place basically ignores every aspect of customer satisfaction & service you would expect from a major venue. security is a joke when it comes to making sure that people are actually sitting in the seats they have tickets for and god forbid security ever told people to stay the hell out of an aisle so that patrons actually paying for premium seating could see the show. i'm just gonna drive up to the Tacoma Dome from now on. Portland seems to have a tough time getting promoters to book major country artists anyways... read more

We recently bought tickets for Cirque du Soleil at the Moda Center through their TicketOffices.com and were surprised (and not too happy) that for a $75 ticket we had a $25.50 service fee PER TICKET. When you're expecting to pay $150. and end up paying $201.00 it can be a bit of a shock. read more
