Lloyd Center is such a great place to skate. I love how inclusive and friendly the skating community is here. My daughter started skating at Lloyd center 2 years ago. She has been skating for about 7 years total. We had heard good things about the program at Lloyd and decided to give it a try even though we live less than 10 minutes from the Sherwood rink. I'm so glad we did! The value you get at Lloyd can't be beat. If you happen to miss a class it's easy to pick up another class as a make up plus you can attend Open skate for free and get a punch card to bring a friend to Open skate a few times each session. Freestyles are also less expensive than other rinks in the areas. If you have done a learn to skate program there are some more advanced classes you can take like Choreo & Moves. The coaching staff is awesome, knowledgeable and patient. They go above and beyond to make students feel welcome, safe and included. (Special shout-out to Lydia!) Lloyd Center is also great for folks just wanting to skate for fun. Much of the day is available as Open skate and there are in and out privileges for the day. That means you can skate, pop off to grab lunch or shop and then skate again. It's a great little outing to do with friends or family. read more

Alright well. Took my nieces skating here. I don't have much to compare it to but the experience was fun for them. Price was a bit spendy but I found a coupon so it worked out well. It included the skates. It was particularly busy that day but manageable. You can rent a locker for $5. It's bigger than it looks..was able to fit 4 pairs of teenager shoes in there, a jacket and a purse. I'd go again. If I wasn't so worried that my nieces would need me for something, I would have just walked the mall but I got stuck taking pics and holding their phones like a chump..haha. good times. read more

Tried the Ice Rink for a winter Christmas experience. Overall, a decent place to try for the first time. Not a very well maintained ice rink. You can rent the gear once you buy the ticket. They have a winter schedule of snowfall during skating. The rink gets a little icy and makes it difficult to enjoy because they maintain it at a slow pace than the amount of visitors. The whole Christmas vibe makes it a little better. read more

This rink is okay - better than nothing. Open skates and the skate classes are chaotic on the weekends but during the week it's a lot more peaceful. My kiddo took a break from ice skating for a few years and is finally back. Didn't get a chance to buy her ice skates before going back for lessons so we thought rental skates would be just fine until we could purchase some later in the week. But nope! Those skates are just terrible. They don't lace up right because the laces are so short. They're also just gross and falling apart. I don't know how it's legal for them to keep renting those out - even if for free! I will say though that I'm grateful they allow makeup lessons for kids if they are unable to make previous ones the same term. read more

This rink has all day public sessions and once you pay you can come and go all day. If you sign up for a class session you can skate free at all public sessions. None of the other rinks in town offer this. It is a welcoming place for skaters of all levels and ages. It is also a lot warmer than any other rink. read more

Wonderful place to skate except....... Beautiful rink with nice atmosphere. Friendly people and great instructor. The one thing they really need to change is the music. I live and work close by so I come everyday. They have an elderly couple that constantly blasts their music forcing everyone without headphones to listen to and tolerate it. Not sure if the couple is donating money to do this but it doesn't seem fair. If I donate money, can I blast my music through the speakers? The music is old and slow and frustrating to listen to. My suggestion is that you allow others the opportunity to play their music loudly or take song requests from other customers. If not, at least provide noise canceling headphones for those of us who don't want to hear it or headphones we can rent or buy for our own music to drown out the slow, sad, dreary stuff. read more

Time for a freeskate, and even though yes this is an mall and there are literally dozens of people are on the ice, it was still a fantastic time to see my wife get to skate which is something that she loves to do and has been doing since she was a teenager. Located in the heart of the Lloyd Center is where the ice rink is. I wish that I could say that the mall itself was a great place to be, but being honest, the only reason I think this place is even still functioning is because of the ice rink. With a quick entry and the rental of skates, you are able to quickly find a spot for your gear in one of the rentable lockers and off to the ice you go. For me it's futility as I wander around the rink holding the outside rail. Just never something I have been able to do. My wife on the other hand takes off like and Olympic Skater and instantly transforms into that magical place we call freedom. Pretty soon the ice is pretty beat up and out comes the ice cleaner (no it's not a Zamboni) but still does the job to prep the ice for another onslaught of fallers and crashes to enjoy and laugh their way to another enjoyable time. read more

I took my two kids (ages 7 & 10) on a Saturday afternoon after Christmas and we had a blast. We got there at 5pm and had a long line for tickets, but once we got in it went quick getting skates and out on the ice. The snow falls every two hours, which was really neat. They also had everyone clear the rink for about 15 minutes to break out the zamboni, which was cool to watch. Kids loved the visit and we'll come back next year. They want to wear helmets and knee pads next time, and it would be good to go at a time when they play Christmas music. read more

The time I grew up was the height of 'fair' when it came to TV showman ship I feel... Back When Boxers went for big knock outs, Pro wrestling was something worth talking about, and people broke peoples legs over figure skating... So when I saw the ice rink, I knew... I had to be the best, at any cost... I brought my lovely wife and my 4 tag alongs... We had 2 7yr olds, 1 5yr old, and a 3yr old... All of us have never Ice Skated (I did back when I was their ages) so really we didn't know what to expect. It isn't the cheapest place to go when you got a lot of people, but we do get to come and go as you please through the whole day... I will say, once you take a break, your feet start to feel the pain! The skates seemed clean and well maintained, the ice was nice and not over crowded, and for 3 bucks for 2 hours you can rent a small locker for your stuff. With all that said we had a blast, every time a person or kid fell a worker would be there to help them up and give them tips and advice on how to skate. Every staff member was super friendly! Tip : Bring gloves if you are learning, and a light jacket, don't dress for ICE!! It gets hot and we all ended up in T shirts in Mid December. The Ice skating was fine, the area is super sketchy, ive lived in Vancouver for 3 years and this was my first time to the Loyd Center. When I returned to my car after ice skating with my daughter my window had been smashed and many thing had been stolen. Never going back to the Loyd center. We had a very bad experience today. The general manager is lack of humanity and sense of community. Our 6 year old daughter has been skating there in the last two years. We had done 6 terms of classes. Today is the last class of our latest term and kids will receive a result report of the term. We had some reschedule and makeup classes and maxed out the number of class we could attend. We found out when we were there. The manage couldn't offer my daughter to attend the class for the final report, or be flexible to charge us average cost per class for the term, but a $6 more expensive rate as a normal drop in. I was with my 2 year old and 6 year old waiting to sort out the situation. We didn't manage to attend the class today as the class has started. Very frustrating experience when you have two kids and get there in the rush hour. There is no any humanity of the management. Very disappointed. read more

*MASKS REQUIRED ON RINK* Dress for a workout and a wintery atmosphere! Initially it'll be chilly, then once you've worn into your skates and found a solid groove, it'll start to get warmer. Except the hands. Bring some gloves for the hands! We're out-of-staters who visited for the holidays during a public skate event. Highly recommend renting a locker through their touch screen machine, it's a pretty simple step by step with instructions. At a great price, you can rent a locker for two hours to stow personal items not limited to shoes, wallets, gloves, etc. The lockers are all the same size, whether you choose bottom, top and middle. If you're unable to rent a locker, other skaters comfortably left their shoes under the benches and their jackets in the corners. Masks are required to be worn properly on the rink at this time! When my husband's mask slipped exposing his nose, it was left like this for a bit, the staff informed everyone through the speakers to wear their mask properly by fully covering their nose. One can still make memories and have fun, just be sure the mask is snug fully covering the nose. I've been to some ice skating rinks and this one's ice was really rough before and after its resurfacing. Once we all cleared off the rink and the 'Zamboni' drove around, the ice was still pretty rough - now with puddles. I was a bit concerned at first. Was their ice resurfacing machine functioning properly or was the ice intentionally left rough so the water could refreeze into the cracks... Not sure! Depending on who you ask it may not matter if the ice is rough and wet. Perhaps most who come to public skating events aren't professional skaters and hockey players, but rather, beginner and intermediate level skaters seeking a good time with family and friends. Me and my husband had a blast skating around the holiday Christmas tree. Additionally, there was fake snowing falling above a small area over the rink! Ice skating here was good and memorable. It's also great way to keep people coming back to the dying Lloyd Mall. There's not a large variety of shopping and food options here; still was nice to walk around after skating and explore the nostalgia, visit some open shops and see what food options were open on the top floor. After skating we treated ourselves to some Braganza Tea (bubble tea) and headed out to find a restaurant to refuel. Good memories can be created here and we look forward to returning! read more

I love that there is an ice skating rink inside of a mall! For $20, my kids were able to skate all day. They let you leave and come back on the same day with your wrist band. We went shopping, skate, ate, shopping again and then skated again. They close at 10:00 p.m on Saturday which is perfect to get some family shopping done and keep the kids busy on the weekend. read more

I had a visitor from out of country and took her to tour in Portland. She thought it's cool to have an ice skate rink in a mall and took one picture of the whole area of the rink and Macy's behind it. Then in all of a sudden one of the private lesson coaches came up to us and told us we are not supposed to take a picture and they don't want to be videotaped if none of our family members are currently skating. We were not recording anything and we were not taking a picture of the coach or her student specifically. It breaks my heart to see the once great Lloyd Center Ice Rink reduced to this. Although it's perfect for kids and those just learning how to skate, there's just no real estate to pick up speed or for figure skaters practicing during public skate. And the ice was pretty rough. I watched the Zamboni driver and he was extremely inconsistent with his lines, which makes a big difference. Absolutely positively 5 stars. My daughter is 6 she had an amazing time skating here for a friends birthday. Such a cool magical place for a birthday party. The kids are 6 and adapted well to being on blades. The offer penguins that can help first timers but we opted not to use one. It wasn't very crowded so I felt comfortable monitoring from the side lines. She is now signed up for classes and can't wait to get... gliding! Eeer skating! read more

Right off the bat I have an issue with the fact that it's so expensive! $20 for all day skating is a bit steep to me especially given the condition of the ice rink. This ice rink is where I spent years of training and now it's just a shameful place. The rink itself has become much smaller which is ok for social outings and casual skating but if you want to train it's not as convenient. Also the condition of the ice hasn't been that great the few times I've been. It's very bumpy with a lot of traction. It seems as though the people who own it just don't care anymore which is such a shame. read more

Bottom line: $20 per person is just stupid expensive for ice skating. I visited the Lloyd Center Ice Rink yesterday for a group outing, and while I had fun (and didn't fall and bust my ass even once!) I doubt I'll return. The price point is the main reason, but there were a couple of other gripes: * For some strange reason their PA system was playing nothing but 90s TV theme songs. This got really old REALLY quick. The kids screaming along to Spongebob Squarepants got old even quicker. Call me a grouch all you want, but screaming kids just isn't my jam. * The ice was a wreck. One of the guys in our group is an avid skater (ie former professional) and said it was the worst he'd ever seen it. Later on he came back and said he talked to the staff and learned that they were letting the ice get particularly bad bc a crew was set to remove the xmas tree that night and they wanted them to have traction. So yeah, only one night but it seems shady to knowingly let things go bad for paying customers with no warning, and still charging them full price. The skates I rented were in great condition, and unlike some others I didn't find the rink to be THAT small. But the annoying tunes and the shady business practices mentioned above are probably enough to convince me to not return. read more

This is a great place to go with the kids where parents can join in and have some fun too! We're lucky to have multiple indoor ice rinks in the area and this is a great one. Clean facilities, frequent enough ice shaving, friendly staff and decent skate rentals. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the price is a little steep. Nothing really wrong with the place... it's an ice rink in a mall. I'm more accustomed to larger and higher-end ice rinks and this one is not that. BUT you have to have realistic expectations, given the location. The ice was pretty choppy and should have been zammed a little more often. The price was a little higher than I'd like to have paid... but I'm not from the area and I can't say it was higher than anywhere else in the area.
